*AND HIS TEAM So everyone remember Chris? That emo dude with nice shoes from House of Wolves and then Rise of Iron. Well, basically, in my opinion, he was one of the developers that started to make D1 a better game. House of Wolves was (again in my opinion) the start of the turning point for the fundamental changes D1 would go through, for the better. Sir Barrett blesses us once again. All hail the king. New systems and rewards to give our most engaged players additional, optional pursuits. Better incentives for players who complete challenging Prestige activities. Better rewards and replay value for strikes, adventures, and Lost Sectors. Private matches for the competitive community (we are targeting early 2018). Crucible tuning like adjusted Supremacy scoring and better spawning rules. Better incentives for completing Crucible matches (and penalties for quitting competitive games). Continued improvements to Iron Banner and Faction Rallies, including uniqueness of rewards. Changes to make the mod economy more interesting and impactful. Ongoing improvements to Exotics, including adjustments to reduce instances of duplication. New ways to spend surplus currency and materials (looking at you Legendary Shards). An emote interface that allows players to equip Salty, Spicy Ramen, Six Shooter, and Flip Out all at the same time.   There's more we're working on. We'll talk again soon.  -Barrett

  • They did address a majority of the issues that currently plague the game, so that is good news. Now, there’s two problems that exist for them: 1. While they did address them, they were light on the details on [u]how[/u] they will fix them. A lot of things need to have core, fundamental changes and they won’t be easy. Will they shortcut, half-ass, or at least do something that’s acceptable? Time will tell. 2. They are up against the clock. Destiny 2 is still bleeding players, and many of them risk not coming back. A lot of these changes do require a lot of time, and they need every bit they can get. But D2 in its current iteration is undesirable (once you get past a certain point). The main team dropped the ball [i]hard[/i]. I don’t see many of these changes coming until 2018 the earliest, but they’re needed ASAP. Still, as cynical I’ve been lately, there is renewed hope that the game will get back on track. But if the Live Team can fix these issues in a satisfying way...whoo boy...

  • An emote interface that allows players to equip Salty, Spicy Ramen, Six Shooter, and Flip Out all at the same time. Finally, this will save D2. Can't wait. Give the man who came up with this an Oscar!

      • Let’s not jump the gun here people, if this is the next patch he’s talking about then I will gladly bend the knee and call him king 🤴🏻 but if this is the next DLC then your all praising the thief for selling your property back 👺. At the very least destiny 2 should of been a upgrade of rise of iron.

          I’m happy about everything he said but the one thing I didn’t hear was what I really wanted and that was a ranked playlist with some kind of number or symbol to work towards. Still very happy about the other stuff though.

        • Empty promises until something is implemented. Don't get me wrong, I like d2, I like d2 the way it is now. But this is the same "pacification" act bungie pulls. It'll probably take most of 2018 to implement these changes.

          • And it’ll be done when exactly? Early 2018 is too long off to save what they’ve done to the game. My friends list on D2 launch was over 50 playing daily. Yesterday not a single person playing. Not once in D1 did I have an issue finding someone on my friends list to do a NF or run some strikes with, even at its worst times. 6 wks into D2 and it’s painful to watch the game die like this. I myself (nearly 4K hours in D1) am finding it hard to stay interested in D2. They need to fix this shit show now, NOT next year. It’ll be too late by then.

            • I'm guessing we get all this by way of paying through the nose for DLCs. They sell us a sequel "Shell of a game" and then offer to fill the shell with content and quality, we thought we were buying to begin with, at a fee for DLCs. Sounds like the business model for D1. It's all about the money they can squeeze from us. It's obvious their interest in the community is how much can they can get out of us before announcing D3 and start the process all over again. Sadly I'll probably be following along the bait trail with all the other mice.

            • All of this will take months to implement. Don't get your hopes up yet. This won't be one huge patch. Won't be next week either as they pretty much announced those patch notes already. Better rewards for prestige activities will be a given in the first DLC. Unless they lock the power level cap behind prestige nightfall and raid completions, it will be very much the same. Private matches are a good start to pvp improvements. But what about being able to select a game mode? Where is rumble, salvage, mayhem or even rift? Spawn rules can't be changed very much. These maps are so small...you kill a team at one end of any map and run to the opposite end to catch them spawning. How would changing spawn rules affect that play style at all? Why aren't these maps the size of halo's 4v4 maps?

            • At this present moment they need a Gjallarhorn sized miracle to get me to spend any money on DLC, these changes need to come in now not in 8 weeks, in 8 weeks this game will be dead

Why hold back rewards for those who "chose" to do harder content? I enjoy the way I play the game and should get equal rewards to those around me. Once this game becomes another - "Hardcore" vs "Casual" battle people will start to leave. TDLR - Do the harder content because your want the challenge, not because of rewards.

              • I’m hopeful that the fact that he mentions a target timeframe for custom games in early 2018 means that the rest of this will be implemented before that. Otherwise why give us a specific window for that and nothing else? Fingers crossed

              • Best weekly update for some time. A list of positive changes born from the myriad of comments on these forums & farther afield - at last some very clear recognition of community input. I’m still unsure as to why these fundamental benefits were not implemented at release? Years of data should make it abundantly clear people do not like grinding, without sufficiently good rewards! Applying a one solution fits all with the token system was a huge mistep in my opinion. I am glad the live team has taken over now though and am hopeful this will herald an era of positive change - hopefully enough to drag back the despondent once these changes are implemented. Looking forward to one day receiving the destiny 2 we have all been waiting for!

              • Atleast as far as console goes, the game will not survive another six to eight weeks for "Season 2" to start. They need to start going live with some of the changes to the system effective Tuesday. Otherwise all that will be left of their market by "Season 2" will be a pocket full of the most toxic and obsessed players. Fact is rather they like it or not, if they want their game to survive long term they can't just put things off and hope for the best.
