The lance would go into the hollow hole that is the eye of the beast, but wouldn't even come close to penetrating. All it did was infuriate the creature as its sword vanished and it instead grabbed yet another wing with its now second open hand. While that was happening, the beast swung its legs so its clawed feet now clung and dug into the hind legs of the griffon.
