It was a regular day in dojoville, people from radically different universes and genres were getting along, save for some awkward laws-of-physics disputes, and all was seemingly well, apart from a single, light trail of crimson-red blood, most likely from the jugular, following a trail down a dark, definitely-not-suspicious allyway, seemingly so cliché it had 'deus ex machina' as graffiti on its grey stone walls, which, following the convention set, was, (of course), written in blood.
