Things done right: # Improved graphics # Improved mechanics (far fewer, “wtf did I just die from?” moments.) # 4v4 maps are well designed # An approachable and engaging story # New vehicles (tanks we can drive) Things that could be better: # Switching from collection to back to loot. The lack of event (stirke, raid, etc) specific loot ruins replayability. We want to collect things of value, but if items are given away everywhere, it greatly reduces the value, and therefore our desire to play for them. # 6v6 or better completely off the road map. We used to PvP with our crew when not raiding. We can’t do that now. If “friendship” is the true loot, why make us kick friends out of the fireteam, and have to pick and choose amoung friends? # If your grenade doesn’t pulse, it is worthless. I landed an incenarary grenade between someones feet and it didn’t even take their shields all the way down. Amd there are some particularly aggregious examples of worthlessness, like tripmines. I can not believe Shaxx is okay with these design choices. # PvP scoring... I know Bungie wanted to get rid of assists and simplify the game, but they over did it. If you want people to not obsess over assists, give us points based on damage dealt, with bonuses for the final shot (and killing the high score holder, percision shots, etc. Please reward skill and make the scoring interesting again. # Too much focus on team shooting. When was the last time you saw an awesome montage real? D1? Yeah, me too. When was the last time you had fun solo queuing? D1, again. # PvP hoppers and random maps. I do not like Supremacy or Countdown, and it seems like I keep getting those modes over and over, back to back. And even if we stay in the same queue, we will often get the exact same map two-three times in a row. Add to that, we have lost some great modes from D1, like Rift and Rumble. # Netcode and hybrid servers... I was hyped for the new netcode improvements. I hoped we would get less lag and bigger games. Instead, the lag seems just as bad, and the games are smaller. # The lack of a lore tab. The cut scenes are great, but there is still no easy way in game or through the app to go lookup and research the lore. # No private matches. We can not have our own private tournaments, nor can we play against friends. # No PvP rematches. I D1, you would likely stay queued against your last opponent, so you could get a rematch. I greatly miss this. # Machine guns... I miss my Quilums’s Terminus. # Guns have no soul in D2. Most guns just feel generic and if they don’t have high caliber rounds, why bother? In D1, I have guns that have character, and I bonded with, and miss greatly. #Cooldowns... It takes seemingly years to get a throwning knife or a,grenage, but power ammo seems like an unending stream. Please reduce the cooldowns for stuff our characters generate, and (very slightly) increase the cooldown for power ammo. # What is “legendary” bout legendary armor. Just like in D1, legendary armor is anything but legenday. They are just reskinned generic copies of eachother with no interesting perks at all. Bungie could have made more diversity in armor ability, just just opted for cosmetics. Bungie tried to make the game approachable by simplifying the game. They over did it and made the game bland. I deeply hope that with the DLCs, they will add the complexity that gave D1 it’s flavor and texture that we love.
