I think a great idea for a raid @bungie is like around half way through or something create a long tunnel or some way to load in everyone and have fireteams face off against each other to move forward. The winning team moves onward and the losing team has to fight another fireteam. If they lose three times create a boss fight, or a wave instanced for them to get passed. If there are not enough players at a point to do that function create a fireteam battle with the normal enemies of that raid like normal or with another mechanic that would work along those lines. @bungie this would not only be amazing for the first time teams play the raid but add a level of reputability and a new style of raid that has yet to be done.
