I think it's part of the plan to make Destiny more E-sport like. If everyone has access to the same equipment, luck is taken out of the equation, just as eliminating specials reduced intelligence and strategy. The trend seems to be about making it a contest of speed and precision.

"More E-Sprts like" Ha! Bungie should just give up on that dream. Destiny will never become an E-Sports like Halo 2 and 3 did. I've seen too many game communities ruined all because publishers and developers desperately want those E-Sports dollars. They'll continue to dumb down their game till it crashes and burns. Bungie has lost their vision of that Destiny was, a PvE game with a strong story, deep and interesting characters, and gameplay that was addictive and had tons of repeatability. Instead all we have is a mediocrity.
