"I see.....transferring the line"
The call on the monitor cuts, then rock versions of elevator music plays as you wait a sec for the line to switch. It says at the top "Transferring line to Mercenary Contractor"

Serendipity, having always enjoyed rock music, began humming- or, at least, doing the equivalent of humming- the tune to a few rock songs. Namely "Under Pressure," by [i]Queen[/i]

Eventually, the music goes off, and a shadowy female figure appeared, wearing a hood "Good evening Ma'am. I heard you want to become a freelance for the Builders. This can be....difficult without some sort of past company giving you a recommendation. You could always complete a harder mission, but then, you wouldn't be paid"

"I have a recommendation." Serendipity stated, looking at the shadowed figure. "Check my work with Ravenware Industries. On one of their factory worlds, they were being terrorized by an outside Bandit force. Myself and my crew put a stop to it and they left a stellar review of our work."

"Hmmm...any of you working alone however? We don't normally contract multiple Mercs on one mission" The woman tapped a couple things into her computer, waiting on a response

"Yeah, should be one... Uh... I think it was Clover Media? They had me protect one of their journalists in the middle of some battle. I was alone for that one." She answered, before shrugging her shoulders. "Not sure though. Might have been a different Corp."

"Ah, Clover. Fun group...anything higher priority, however? The missions we have you take require serious experience Ma'am. Not trying to be a hardass, company policy"

"Most of the high priority missions I've done, I've done with my crew. Sorry." She said, sighing slightly.

"Sigh......im looking at the file, you've done some good work, even if it is with a crew.....do you want me to transfer you to division lead?"

"Would that do anything to help me?" Serendipity inquired, looking up at the figure with hope.

"Division Lead....do you not understand the meaning of that? It means you are talking with someone high high high up. Feel lucky, I'll probably get fired"

"I'll do what I can to make sure you don't." Serendipity quickly stated, standing tall once more.

"Uh huh." A quick transfer, and you only see a gray screen with a line. The line moves slightly when you hear a cough, a heavily modified sounding cough

"Hello." Serendipity said simply, bowing her head down in respect of whoever was on the other end.

"Huh....hmm....i see.....so let me guess, employee 4294 transferred you over? Stupid girl...told her never to do this again" You could hear him pressa button on his computer "Duchess, escort 4294 to the firing squad." He then spoke to you in his heavily distorted voice "What do you want?"

"To save employee 4294 first and foremost." Serendipity stated, raising her head up slightly, at eye level with the line.

"Woman, you are at least the 20th person who has tried that, and are 4294's 51st offense. I can't keep giving my daughter slack. Anyway, besides that, what do you want?"

"Then don't give her slack. Is death absolutely necessary for her? There's still plenty of other things she could do." Serendipity quickly argued, trying to save the life of a woman she didn't know. Honorable for the most part.

"Lady, don't question me, you have 10 hitmen aimed at your head. Now, tell me: What are you here for?"

Serendipity sighed for a moment, looking down to the ground before looking back up. "Sorry to have wasted your time. I was looking for work as a freelancer, but I don't think I'll be able to fit with your... Corporation."

It was quiet for a moment, before he spoke again "Freelance work? This is new, 4294 normally sends me any random bloke. Interesting. Duchess, calling you off." You heard a sigh from a radio, then a scream of happiness "Yeah yeah. So, you want to work freelance?"

"Yeah, if possible. I have a crew that I usually work jobs with, as you can see from my background. We tend to do alot of high risk jobs." Serendipity said, taking a sigh of relief at the news. "For example... Trigon Corporation lost blue prints to an Interstellar hyper space capable nuclear warhead. Those blue prints, needless to say, would have tipped the scales of power throughout the galaxy. We got those plans back... And may have handed them over to the authorities." Serendipity said, shrugging her shoulders at the last part.

"Which, if I remember correctly, then made its way into our hands. Well done there, excellent job. Leo Armaments really hated when we blew their main plant on Yarat-7 sky high. Excellent, excellent work" He laughed "The issue here is we normally only contract one freelance at a time. If you worked as a Merc for us full time, that would change, but we normally only handle one Merc at a time for freelance"

"So would I be unable to bring my crew in on these missions then?" Serendipity inquired, smiling at the reminder of an old job.

"Again, this is normally. However, your crew did good work for us without realizing it. I'm not sure if you ever noticed, but you did get an extra billion credits in your payroll that wasn't specified. So based on that, I would say we might be able to work something out"

"Always thought those credits were an accounting glitch... And to think. We gave most of it away to Smart Solutions. Those guys are the real heroes. Their work on Mowedna was unbelievable. Brought the whole damn civilization back from ruin!"
