“You’re still not getting what I mean by using your wings more for agility and as a weapon when necessary. You’re being reckless. You’re only using them as shields and blunt objects to whack with and not even attempting to evade with them. They’re strong, but they’re not that strong and you rely on them for power. You lose them you’ve lost the fight, so you gotta let the rest of your body take a few beatings too.”
I sighed and held my face in my hands. I had been helping train the angel looking girl named, Victoria, for hours now in the Dojo Sim rooms. Sadly, the girl’s boxing like street fighting didn’t really fit the powers she seemed to posses...I wished I had those powers instead at the time, thinking I could do better. Honestly, I probably could’ve.
“Yeah yeah! I know!”
“Then do it! You can’t say you know until you actually do.”
The simulation ran again. The sim I programmed into the system was just a few basic human muggers that charged without much thought. They’d randomly have a bat or brass knuckles or even a gun. I thought some randomness was necessary to make sure she didn’t just memorize their movements.
“Again!”
Victoria was surrounded by four muggers that poofed into existence and within seconds she had flipped and punched and kicked them all unconscious. Luckily she used my advice a little more this time and because she actually evaded she managed to not take a single hit. I clapped and grinned before patting her on the back. She breathed heavily, out of breath from the many attempts to get it right.
“You owe me a coke for putting me through this hell for the past few hours.”
“Actually, I think you owe me for helping you better yourself. I was initially going to better myself, but decided to be nice and help you instead.”
“I don’t think training like this will help you. You need to go get some powers or something. Maybe a radioactive spider? Have you tried that?”
“Oh shut up, V.”
We turned around to leave when we noticed someone had already walked in….
Open. If you don't know the characters I can direct you to their intro posts.
A man who fit the description of a fantasy elf had entered. He donned ballistics armour, as he spun a butterfly knife in his hand, the clicking and clacking of it as it spun enough to unsettle anyone. He walked forward, a clear confidence in his stride as he did. He tossed the blade up, if one looked closely they could see tiny runes inscribed all along the knife. He caught it, closing it as he looked towards both of them. "Well, both of you sound a good deal grumpy. You two have a long night?" He said looking at the two with his lead green eyes as a grin crossed his fair skinned face. His short brown hair shone a little in the sun as he looked at the two.
-
I nodded and stopped walking a few feet in front of the elf looking man. I've seen a large amount of knives due to my brother's collection, some simple twirling didn't even come close to startling me. "Grumpy? We're having fun. Isn't that right, V?" "I'll see you tomorrow, Don." The angel girl walked out of the building and flew away.
-
"You two a thing or something? Just a hunch." He said, as he put the knife away. He continued walking into the room. "Also hey, have you seen a human chick, about 5'10", black hair, might be mistaken for a man in the wrong light?"
-
"No! No. We're not a thing." I answered...probably a bit too defensively. "And no. I don't remember someone that fits that extremely vague description that probably fits a few dozen people in the area."
-
T: "Damn. Where in the seven hells is she?" He said, before a voice was heard behind him, distinctly female as Jess walked through the door. She wore her usual apparel of a burgundy too revealing her midriff, black cargo pants and leather boots, and black biker gloves. In the wrong light someone might mistake her for a man, her features being more masculine. A tattoo ran all across her right arm and on the sides of her midriff. J: "Damn this place is big, and I'll tell you we definitely aren't the strange ones here Tal." T: "Yeah well since when have we been?"
-
"So, uhh....Hello, random girl I don't know." I waved at Jess a little with a shrug before turning back to Tal. "Should I leave you two alone? I could leave if you want."
-
T: "I was just gonna help her with some swordsmanship. Feel free to stay and enjoy the show if you'd like. Really couldn't care less." Tal said, quite honest about that J: "Who knows, maybe he can actually give me a challenge." Jess retorted
-
"I'm not a superhuman, so I doubt that. I do however have a lot of experience with real fighting with a sword. It's not the flashy kind of sh*t though. It's not fencing either where you can only use the blade and not the rest of your body." I had confidence in my ability to fight with swords since I've been practicing real fighting since a rather young age. People seem to forget to use their whole body when fighting with weapons. It's kinda sad.
-
T: "Good, seems we're all in the same boat then. Neither of us are super human, I mean I'm what your races would consider an elf, but otherwise I'm the same as you." J: "And we don't do that fancy bullshit. Stabs, jabs, kicks, pommel strikes. You use anything you can in a swordfight."
-
"Alright, I guess there's no reason not to. I'm not very fit, but I should have enough endurance for a small sparring match." I was thinking of the possibility they were here to kill me or scout me or something. I decided it was best to fight casually. If it turned into life or death I needed the energy.
-
J: "Good, someone who's ACTUALLY gonna be a challenge." She says jokingly looking st Tal. T: "Yeah. Cause me winning out last 5 matches doesn't say I'm a challenge."
-
"I doubt I'll be much of a challenge, but thank you." I walked back towards the center of the room, picking up a simple broad sword out of a bin of weapons on the way.
-
She took out the escirma in her hip, spinning it with one hand. As she did, the weapon changed in the blink of an eye, now a four foot long two handed blade J: "This is gonna be fun."
-
I sighed, I really wished I had cool stuff like that. Instead I'm just some completely normal...somewhat normal kid in a world full of magical people that break the laws of physics almost constantly. "Or a slaughter." I joked back with a friendly smile. Gotta play nice or risk having a super soldier being out to kill you just because you looked at them.
-
jess is actually a normal human so you know. She's just got an elvish weapon, so it transforms like that
J: "Don't worry, it's just training. I'll make sure you have all your limbs after this." She said, grabbing the handle with bith hands as she took a stance
-
"That sounds reassuring. Thanks." I got into my own stance with my blade out in front of me. I began to circle Jess slowly, trying to get a feel for her movements.
-
Edited by Lordbakon: 9/2/2017 8:21:04 PMShe began to circle as well, analyzing the man with her eyes. She feigns a cut to his left arm to see what he'll do
-blam!-, sorry, fixed
-
I took a very quick step back, dodging and being a punching bag has always been my strong suite. Sadly, I wasn't ever all that great at hitting or telling an actual attack from a fake one.
-
She decided to push the offensive. She stepped forward with a thrust, watching for any counter he might throw
-
I parried the sword upward as hard as I could right before kicking at her hip with my leg, attempting to knock her off balance.
-
The man that strolled raised his eyebrows slightly at the pair. "You realise there are preprogrammed opponents that are slightly more challenging than those?" The man then started tapping and swiping apparently at thin air, though it seemed unlikely.
-
I shrugged. "That's not as much fun. Also, considering the insanity of some of the stuff here I need to practice every skill and talent I have until I perfect it to even have a fighting chance at living here." Victoria kept on walking, leaving me with the stranger.
-
The man carried on swiping. "Don't start easy. When you start easy, you expect difficult things to be easy. When you start difficult, you expect easy things to be difficult." The man paused. "Hey, I had to think that one up on the fly."
