Destiny Fiction Producers Writer's Contest

Art by Cyborg4281 The contest is now closed! Thank you to all that participated! The winner of the first DFP Writer's Contest is Morc35! Everyone did a great job, and it was a difficult decision for the judges, but Morc's story was the one we all agreed on. Once again, great work, everyone! To celebrate the release of the beta early access for Destiny 2, and to keep the interest up, Destiny Fiction Producers is hosting a contest for the community. The challenge is to write a Destiny short-story, down in the comment section below that best portrays your version of "a world without Light". The contest begins today, July 18th, and will end on August 18th. All submissions after that will not be included in the judging. All you have to do is post your story in the comments section, but remember, you have five weeks to write, edit, and post your work. The winner will be announced on August 20th, the following Sunday. The winner will receive a code for a $20 Playstation Store card or a $20 Xbox Store card as the prize. Rules: 1) This is a friendly competition, so keep the comments nice and/or constructive. 2) If you want to edit your story after it is posted, go ahead, just leave #Finished to let the judges know it is ready. 3) Please do not post your story multiple times. The judges will read them all. 4) Be original. If two stories seem identical, and it is difficult to confirm which was the original, then the judges will skip over both and move on to the next. Theme: Just as is the theme of Destiny 2, the theme of this contest is "A world without Light". It is up to you to interpret that. Prize: The winner will be announced on August 20th, and will receive a $20 gift card for Playstation or Xbox. Prize Redemption: I will private message the winner of the contest, and I will send one code for the aforementioned gift card based on personal preference. Keep fighting, Guardians

#Finished A Guardian's Choice: Floating. Drifting. A seemingly vast, yet empty, space. Darkness all around except below me. The raging inferno that exploded inside the tower lit the night sky. The tower. My tower. Our home. My home. The fight has been long for each of us. For me as much as any other. I can see more than should be possible to recollect in any length of time. A war like no other war. My body lay splayed near where Zavala's bubble had been only moments before, when the invasion that sparked this war began. I wasn't dead. But I wasn't long for life, either. It would be so easy to let go. To take my last breath and let others fight this war. I couldn't tell if I was tired or scared. Maybe both. The memory of Aksis flooded my eyes like the storm that cleansed the earth thousands of years ago. The monstrous SIVA infused priest that was fueled by anger and blood. I stormed his iron fortress with guardians held in the highest regards. The battles were fierce, inventive. It was a hard climb to his dead corpse but he deserved his fate. And I was honored to oblige him. Then flashes Oryx. He launched himself and his army into our solar system, hell bent on destroying all that we built. We traversed his vast ship in search of his throne. Battling enemies we'd never seen before. But they were no match for our prowess. Even the taken fell to our weaponry and abilities like rain in a summer shower. It was his last decision to come here. Revenge, he claimed. But all he received was our fury. Another honor. Now I see Skolas. The fallen, self-appointed, leader of a tribe of prisoners. Even calling all manner of enemy to his aid, he was never abreast to our might. We would keep him locked away in his own solitude, whether alive or dead. His cannons were impressive, I'll give him that. Even more so when we snatched them from the fallen hands of our enemies and dispatched the coward with his own tech. That was an honor I'll cherish with a sly grin. Crota's glow lightens my pupils as it encompasses my vision. His sword gleaming like a spark of death itself. Hidden away in his tower with his minions to slow our approach. Had they only known of our wolfpack mentality. They never stood a chance. The prince of darkness made bright by the explosions and fire from our training. We made him kneel. Execution was a befitting honor for such an invader. And now a new enemy threatens us as many have before. This one more powerful, perhaps. Smarter maybe. And with a true agenda. To take the light that guided and fueled our defenses so many times before. So without it, I will empower my offensive. And you will taste your own blood before the sun rises. My eyes slowly open as I wake. I am coming, Gary. You will soon be shown my honor.
