Christina would look to her left, then her right, then back at the man, shifting herself a bit away from him as he approached–simply a precaution. "This really isn't the best place to talk about that," She murmured, her soft voice barely audible above the pouring rain and howling gale.

"Then how about we go somewhere more private. You've intrigued me." He said this very casually, there was a warmth in his tone and body language.

  • "Right. Follow me." Christina turned away from Locke, beginning to walk down the streets in the same direction she was before. After a while, they'd arrive at an old, seemingly abandoned 7-11. Its walls were dilapidated and moss covered, the once clean walls cracked and old. Many windows were broken in, revealing the dull, flickering light inside the old store. Christina would enter this 7-11, setting herself down at the counter. "Well, this is my place," She said flatly. "To answer your question then... I guess I had started doing whatever I could do for money when I left home. People who... disagreed with my family's religion raided our house, end... well, you can probably guess what happened after that."

  • He nods, carefully examining the room. He looks at her, a serious look on his face. "I can imagine. When I was younger, my parents were murdered by a demon. I was so angry at the world, I had to let it all out somehow. So I threw myself into my studies. I became the greatest wizard the town had ever seen, and defeated every opponent that rose to oppose me. They loved me." He pauses, looking away from her. "And then they stabbed me in the back. When the demon attacked the town, I was the one they blamed. After everything I did for them, they just tossed me aside." He clenches his hands, tears gathering in his eyes.. "They exiled me. The people who had become my family, kicked me out. It showed me that no matter what I do, it will never be enough to bring them back." A single tear falls to the floor. "So I know exactly how you feel."

  • Christina gazed at Locke, her mouthing slightly agape as though she wanted to say something. After a moment of silence, she closed her mouth, sighing and looking down. "Regardless how distant they seem, the gods watch over you," She replied sadly. It sounded like something she told herself a lot, clinging to her religion in world where it did very little for her. She remained silent as she gazed up at the ceiling of the 7-11. "Wizard, huh? What kinda magic do you use?" She asked nonchalantly. "I pray to the gods, and they bless me with power through the talismans you might see on my left hand." The jewelry.

  • "The people in my village have an interesting difference from other humans. We have Arcane Force. It's the same principle as chakra in some popular media. Some of us can use it better than others." A small flame appears in his hand. "It's quite useful."

  • "Arcane Force, huh?" Christina would gaze at the flickering flame in Locke's hand, staring into the sparks and embers as a small plume of smoke rose from it. She admired it–Locke's magic was self-reliant, whereas Christina depending on some distant gods for her power. "Interesting. Wish I had some," She added half-jokingly, laughing a bit.

  • "Well, you do have it. You just can't use it." He stood, taking a very professorial stance. "All humans produce Arcane Force as a byproduct of mitosis and meiosis, however for some reason only the people of the western islands have the necessary biological features to use it. We have something similar to a second set of blood vessels, just for Arcane Force."

  • "... you just got my hopes up, then smashed them immediately," Christina replied with a laugh. "Is it possible to... ah, never mind." She shook her head, knowing how foolish the question was.

  • He furrowed his brow. "Technically yes. The only thing is it would require quite alot of blood and would be quite painful for you. But yes, it is possible."

  • "Oh?" Christina seemed rather interested. "Well, if you could ever find some time to teach me how, I'll try to find some payment."

  • "Payment? No, I do not require payment. The information gained would be payment enough." He sits next to her. "Besides, I would like to believe we have become friends here today. Friendship doesn't ask for payment or reimbursement. It simply gives what it can and takes what it needs. No more, no less. And true friendship is quite rare."

  • She laughed slightly, smiling at Locke. "That's... quite some philosophy," She commented, raising an eyebrow. "But if you do end up teaching me something... well, I'll have something for you."

  • "Well, it won't be easy, but blood magic is very useful." He looks over at her. "And i suppose I'll have to take some payment if you continue to be insistent."

  • Christina smiled at Locke, pulling a dagger from its sheathe at her right side. It was short and curved, and emeralds decorated its guard. "This dagger's... special. It doesn't harm people, rather it phases through their flesh completely. Instead, it heals nearby wounds." She looked from the dagger to Locke. "Don't think of it as payment. It's a token of thanks, for being a friend." She held the dagger out to Locke.

  • He took the dagger. "Thank you, I will treasure it always." He looked at her, smiling.

  • Christina smiled back at Locke, almost sadly. The dagger was a family treasure, an heirloom, and had saved Christina's life as a child. She was sad to see it go, but was glad that it was in the hands of somebody like Locke.

  • "I Will." He looked up to the ceiling, and then down at the floor. The silence soon became quite awkward. "It's been quite nice to meet you Christina, and I am glad we have become friends." He stands up. "But I am afraid I must go, I have demons to hunt." He leaves.
End. Gotta do a plot now. :P
