"The greatest bonds are those formed in battle," -Unknown
Friends Again Dojo Woods, 02:07 Vex units were teleporting from nowhere, seemingly. JJ was fighting the Vex, alone. There were at least 100. Give or take 50 more than that. Goblins, Hobgoblins, Harpies, Minotaurs. Hell, even a few Hydras. He was doing a good job. He was using Zen Meteor to take out the Hydras first. After that, it was hand to hand combat. He was punching goblins, while also laying down some fancy footwork. A shoulder charge here and there. JJ tanked 10 Line Rifle shots. They didn't seem to bother him. He noticed some of the Hobgoblins were being picked off. "For once," he said, "I need someone that won't beat the living crap out of me." "Very funny. No, I'm actually here to help. I wish I could say that about the rest of my family," a female voice answered. A familiar female voice. He didn't lose his concentration. He uppercutted a charging Minotaur. And the Warlock kicked it away, pulling out a shotgun and putting multiple blasts into it. "Some fancy footwork you got there, Sarah." She punched a Goblin in it's radiolaria. She shot a harpy down with a shotgun before answering, "Yeah. I've been practicing. I'm sick of losing to my dad in hand to hand combat." She grabbed a minotaur, saying, "Catch," and throwing it towards him. He punched it in half. "Well, Titans kinda know what we're doing when we run out of ammo." "Or you do it for fun. Lunar, Dynamite." Sarah's own Zen Meteor appeared in her hands as she sniped down multiple harpies that were on JJ's tail. "So when you ask for your Zen Meteor, you say dynamite. That's interesting. I say Laser Beam when I call out for mine," he noted. JJ pulled out his Hawksaw and started to mow down goblins. Neither if them were distracted by their own conversations. "So if we were to coordinate team attacks with the Zen Meteors, we'd be saying the Exotic Perk to call it out." "Uh-huh." "Okay, we gotta try that sometime. That sounds like a fun way to DPS." "It's better than Blake screaming Peregrine Greaves at the top of his lungs." She laughed, switching to her Cocytus Sr4. "Minotaur behind you is down," Sarah called out. "Thank you, that torch hammer hurt." "Not as bad as being pummeled by Mason... Is that too soon?" "No. That was pretty good. Yep a few Harpies were behind you. They're dead now." "It's been a while since we fought side-by-side." "Yeah. Remember during King's Fall when Jacob put us on ad-clearing duty during Golgoroth?" "Yeah we wrecked those motherf**kers." "Well, there are a lot of Vex asking for death." "Sure, but I want try something." The Warlock flew into the air with her wings of fire. A fiery sword formed in her right hand, and she rained hellfire onto some minotaurs. Then she floated safely back down, without the sword. "That's so cool. Let me show you what I can do," he said. He summoned his sentinel shield, and used it to kill some harpies, then threw it, killing multiple goblins and hobgoblins. Both guardians continued to fight the Vex, while keeping up a good conversation Within an hour, every last Vex unit was dead. JJ looked to Sarah, "Hey, thanks." "Huh?" "For watching my back." "It's not a problem. I'm used to it. Thank you for the talk and the trip down memory lane. That shield work was very impressive." "I should say the same about you and hurling hellfire with that sword from midair. Takes skill and coordination." "Well fought, old friend." She started to walk away. "Wait... so does this mean... we're friends?" He asked. "Depends. Have you found a way to cope with the fact that I'm in love with someone else?" She asked. "Yeah. I gotta busy schedule these days. I don't need to be brooding over the past. I really shouldn't have in the first place. It was a very stupid idea." "What's on the schedule today?" She asked, jokingly. "Let's see here. It's 4:15 am? I have about 4 hours to rest and refresh until something invades, a monster shows up, or until Blake starts screaming Bloody Murder." "Good luck with that," she told him, "I gotta go." "Alright. Maybe you can watch my back in another horde fight." "Heh. It's your call," she said. She was out of his sight within minutes.
Closed.

That's right. They're friends.

Deal with it, Can.

I better do it now to make his possible perma-death more meaningful.
