Crow "You seem skilled," The sound of the woman's voice came from behind Markus, actually. What he had heard approach was simply a trick caused by the wind and litter. The woman drew her own sword, which was about four feet in length, its blade three feet while its grip was one. She swung it around a bit, warming her muscles up, before holding the blade in front of herself, tip aimed diagonally upwards and forwards. "Shall we duel?" She asked, although it wasn't as much a request as a challenge.

  • Mark nodded, twirling his hand-and-a-half sword. "Would you allow me a drink of water first, stranger?"

  • "Of course." She made no move to relax or back down, merely waited.

Mark walked to the small stream nearby and knelt, taking several sips of water. He then splashed water over his head and stood, walking back. "Shall we begin?" He took a defensive stance, his sword held low with the point sticking out at her menacingly.

  • Crow simply nodded, beginning to circle the man while strafing right, her sword still extended in front of herself with its tip pointing upwards.

  • Mark didn't circle, but merely turned in place. He kept himself facing her.

  • It seemed they were at some sort of an impasse, with both wishing to analyze their opponent's attacks and counter accordingly. Crow decided to make the first move, with an exaggerated lunge to her right–Markus' left–but attacking in a horizontal slash from her left, towards Markus' right. The lunge was meant to be a feint, a distraction.

  • Markus was a veteran swordsman, but the feint was well played. He brought his sword up to block it, attempting to turn when he realized the true blow was approaching from another angle. Their swords met, but due to the angle the very tip of her blade tore a slit in the front of his vest about two inches long.

  • Immediately after their swords had touched, Crow would bring her sword to her right side, aiming another wide, horizontal slash, this time from her right to her left–vice versa for Markus. What Markus probably noticed was that Crow now held the blade with only her right hand. At the same time as she made her horizontal slash very noticeable and quick at the same time, she would throw a punch with her left gauntlet–much less noticeable–towards Markus' gut.

  • Markus stepped back, partying the blow as he stepped into it. As soon as he made contact, he used the force of impact to bounce his blade back and slash at her face. Unfortunately for him, her fist messed him up as the flat of his blade impacted the back of her hand.

  • Crow took the opportunity of her armored left hand being so close to Markus' blade to grab the sword, the gauntlet wrapping around the blade. Crow's grip was tight and her arm was strong, almost immovable. She used the brief immobilization of Markus' sword to aim a quick yet powerful stab with her own blade, aimed at his gut.

  • He used his own glove to grab her blade as well, seeming to take inspiration from her own movement. He rapidly twisted around, leaving his back to face her for a brief second as he wrenched both blades hard, harder than what a human should have been able to do.

  • He would manage to wrench his own blade out, the metal edge sliding through Crow's metal gauntlet, however her hold on the leather grip of her own sword remained. With Markus still clutching her blade yet with his back turned, Crow lifted her leg and kicked out, her foot slamming into Markus' back–as, of course, his back was turned. The impact would normally send any normal person to the ground, but as OP stated, Markus probably wasn't a normal person.

  • He was knocked forward, the impact causing him to yank harder on the sword. He used the momentum to fall forward, releasing Crow's blade and rolling away from her. He landed on his feet and pivoted to face her.

  • Even before the man had completely pivoted, Crow was already following up the brief stagger with a strong, diagonal slash, from her upper right to her bottom left, aimed at Markus' left shoulder.

  • Markus ducked away from it, using the momentum of his pivot to bring his sword in a slash aimed at her stomach.

  • Due to the downward motion of her diagonal slash, it was easy for her to angle her sword vertically with the tip pointing down to block the slash, however the momentum would bend her hold on it so the tip would point more at herself. She quickly stepped back two steps, for continuing to try to fight in that situation would've resulted in quite some danger, she felt. So she essentially reset, raising her sword up in front of her in the same position she had started in, once again circling Markus whilst strafing rightwards slowly.

  • Markus retook his position in the iron gate stance, his sword held low and pointing at her. He circled to keep himself tacing her.

  • Crow would step forward, raising her blade high above her head, and bringing it downwards. During the slash she would suddenly change the blade's direction to go down to her lower right and perform a low, horizontal slash at Markus' legs. The downwards slash was another feint.

  • Thanks to his stance, his sword was already in a good position. He deflected the fient with the tip, arcing the blade to catch the true swing right above the crossguard. He now had leverage, as the base of his blade was against the tip of hers, and used it to shove her blade away.

  • Her blade was indeed shoved aside, the sideways motion allowed Crow to turn her body to slightly and send a kick out, leg aimed slightly below Markus' arms. Crow aimed to stagger him back slightly, giving her time to follow up.

  • He stepped back, allowing the kick to push him out of range. "You're quite impressive with a blade."

  • "And you, as well," The woman would murmur in response. The moment she had kicked the man, she took a couple swift steps forward while he was still slightly off balance, aiming a quick horizontal slash at his torso.
