*A Wild Gringo has appeared*
I just wanted to clear something up. So I keep hearing a lot of Destiny Youtubers saying there will only be 5 game modes at D2 release and 10 maps. I would like to tell you that this is some weird game of telephone. Here is a quote from the official Destiny 2 Webpage
Intense 4v4 competitive multiplayer matches, including over 12 different PVP modes.
source
We do have 5 currently confirmed game modes. Confirmed we have:
Control
Countdown
Survival
Clash
Supremacy
If there are any others or I am wrong hit me up with the source and Ill correct myself accordingly
So someone probably said there would only be 5 game modes and everyone else was too lazy to check.
Hope this was helpful.

There 1 game mode there all clash
-
All D1 game modes, with the only exception being Zone Control, are Clash. All D2 game modes revealed are Clash. So in reality Destiny pvp is just Clash (with the zone control exception)

Edited by RavenousLD3341: 8/7/2017 2:38:33 PMNah... Destiny's only ever had 2 gamemode Rumble Clash, sometimes with special quests, objectives Control Clash with objectives Rift Clash with a ball Trials 3v3 elimination clash Salvage See trials /w objective Skirmish 3v3 clash Supremacy Clash with things to pick up Countdown See Salvage Unfortunately since kills are often directly tied to the victory condition in Destiny... every mode is just Team Deathmatch. Except Zone Control.

Bumping to keep informed, if somebody could give me a reply so I can check back here and gather all the information in a day or so when I have more free time it'd be super appreciated <3
-
I highly doubt there will be 12 different modes It's more likely they meant maps Bungie has "unintentionally" made misconceptions about stuff like this in the past...
-
12 pvp modes? Hmmp, what other game has 12 pvp codes... Starts with C..
-
More game modes than Overwatch at launch.
-
Why do they say over 12 different PvP modes. Is that 13 or 14 or 15? Over 12, lol.
-
Keep in mind that it may also be taking into consideration the 'Mayhem' and 'Inferno' versions of a few game-modes as well. That may represent a portion of that value.
-
and 12 game modes will lead to longer queue times and sweaty and red bars as the player population dwindles away to other, better PvP games. It may have 12 game modes, but the question you should be asking is will they be active at the same time? and even available without buying massive amounts of DLC or map packs?
-
It's still 5 modes too many
-
Not a game of telephone more a game of incomplete content at launch. This is why many organisations are now asking just what IS in the launch game! so far it's 5 confirmed crucible modes with a few like ranked gameplay being mentioned but (if you listen to recent interviews) not even confirmed for near future inclusion. Incidentally there aren't 12 PvP modes in existence so not sure how Destiny would have that many especially as there is no rumble free for all mode even. More likely it's just silly variations on them such as mayhem clash, mayhem countdown etc. etc. Take survival for example (of which there's a video on IGN) it's just elimination with team lives. Which is only slightly different to countdown. A funny fact is that countdown is actually HARSHER than survival because countdown causes a team loss if all members die at the same time but, survival allows players to revive themselves upto the teams life limit amount of times. Countdown allows a total of two revivals per team and those can only be carried out by a surviving player not the dead teammate! There's a lot about D2 crucible that I suspect will be questioned once the game launches and people get a chance to look at it without hype clouded goggles on.

So less maps, modes and players than D1, sounds right.
-
RIP Rumble 😪
-
I dunno. 5 sounds like plenty if it's true. Seems like all I played was Control or occasionally rumble. When Crucible got a weekly thing I played whatever that was, but when it was Supremacy or Rift I always felt like stabbing my fxckin eyeballs out with sporks. I'd honestly rather there be way more to do in PvE, which allegedly there is, so I'm looking forward to that more.
-
People also didn't understand the 'intense 4v4 multiplayer" part either, when expecting quickplay to be casual only, lol
-
It doesn't specify at launch or not. My guess is 5 day one with others coming later. Remember, Bungie has already said they will be drip feeding new content post launch and outside paid DLC.
-
6 game modes split between competitive and casual playlists.
-
Was Supremacy even confirmed?
-
the way I see it is that if the maps are tailor made for game modes, that's better than getting the "shity" map no one likes over and over, you will know what map will be in rotation for what game types. and if there was voting, usually the same map gets voted for over and over anyway in other games. map variety is cool, but quality maps are better, the maps I've seen and or played on so far look good so we will have to see.
-
Who cares about that 5% of the game.
-
Clearly says 5 pvp modes looking at the game on the preorder store
-
I'm pretty sure clash was confirmed not coming back because of the 4v4. I think it was said in a Bungie interview or something.
-
Depends on player base to me. Back in Halo 2 days there were a lot of modes but that game was king. Now there is so much competition sometimes it doesn't work out so well when games have to many modes to play.
-
Clash is apparently not going to be in D2.
-
Well here is a quote from the Official Destiny 2 page on the PSN store:
Intense 4v4 competitive multiplayer matches, including 5 different PVP modes.
So if Bungie's own marketing team is advertising on the PSN and XBL stores that there are 5 (note, it doesn't say "more than") modes, then of course people are speculating that there are only 5 modes.
