How do you feel about D2 Set Rolls?

Personally, I think that it is a pretty good idea. It does have its problems though. I feel like set rolls will cause certain weapons to be terrible simply because of bad rolls. At the same time, it takes away some if not most of the grinding. How do you feel about this change?

  • I like it because it stops having to rely on luck for a good role after grinding and wasting time on a weapon

  • I don't like it, people have said it will be ok as long as there are plenty of guns. But thing about it unless there are 200+ guns getting dups is gonna be annoying. Hell I'm already annoyed at the dups in the beta

  • On one hand it's nice that whenever you get X weapon, you get X weapon and your grinding is over. I got about 20 Treads Upon Stars and NONE of them were even remotely decent rolls :( However, there was that gamblers high, so to speak, whenever you got a weapon, checked it out and it turned out to be a god roll weapon. I think many people will miss that. But, with set rolls, we'll see how that turns out. Like many people, can't begin to describe the headache of grinding to get a specific weapon only for it to be a crap roll. With set rolls that'll eliminate that headache but then it'll be an issue of will I ever get X weapon to drop.

  • Now when I get a weapon I know it'll be a dismantle right away rather than opening the perks up

  • Not enough info to really say... My WAG... I like playing the game and having the chance to get some new roll to try. I don't care what the meta is... I like to search for the best weapon for my build, play style. (at the time) If there is a sheznet ton of weapons to pick from it really doesn't matter to me. If there is a kiosk that would also be a huge plus. Otherwise I'm going to be pissed when they nerf the weapon that I like and I deleted the next best thing because the lack of vault space.

  • I think we figure out more with weapon mods as that will be the main diversity point in the weapons

  • I love this change. It gives each gun a lot more personality when you see someone with it and you know exactly what it does. Then again, despite occasionally getting addicted to the grind, I don't find the grind to be the "fun" part of Destiny. I truly just enjoy the gunplay and encounter design. the gear is just an addictive little cherry on top.

Late into the D1 after I had every exotic and I got a drop... Exotic? Sigh. Another duplicate? Dismantle. Legendary? Ooh! Let's take a look and see if it's better than what I'm using now. Drops are going to be less exciting now I think.

It really defeats a lot of the purpose of grinding if it'll be easier to get the particular weapons you want. Less reasons to grind a lot means less reasons to play a lot. I think House of Wolves did it best in D1. There was still grinding for god rolls and the excitement that came with finding an optimal gun, HOWEVER, you could spend resources to re-roll perks to get the setup you want.

      • I think it's overall a good idea. I just am not fond with the "replacement" where we try to chase the gun we want with the "best" intrinsec perk. I'd much rather duplicates of the same gun/armor made our favorite weapon more powerful in interesting ways.

      • I like it, it makes PvE more enjoyable since every weapon can finally do well.
