An interesting observation about D2 Beta Reviews

So I've read all the reviews and opinions on the D2 Beta so far; I've spotted an interesting trend in the opinions from the ones that are saying it's great and are loving it. All of these Bungie defenders have sub 5000 Grimoire, No "From the beginning" node unlocked on Y3 MoT and have 1000 Hours or less gameplay time. You will say Grimoire doesn't mean shit, but it's an uncanny trend that I've spotted. Any D1 Alpha/Beta Vets with 5500+ Grimoire and 3000 Hours logged have anything good to say about this D2 Beta? I'm curious...

  • Destiny is meant for casuals. Anyone with over 1000 hours is playing it wrong so no wonder they don't like it.

  • So far overall the game is not bad. I'd give it an 8 out of 10.

  • Dude, 1000 hours is still insane. My grimoire is almost maxed and not even I care about that. You can give a pretty good opinion after playing a game for 100 hours, you sound ridiculous lol

    • Wow go ahead and make a hilarious post describing why people don't respect you bud This is all fuel to the fire you started with me saying I am fake If I'm fake why would I have over 3000 hours played in D1 on a account that didn't join destiny until around taken king clearly I've played since beta though I've got more than one account like many people begging for proof doesn't mean we necessarily have to prove it some of us just like to keep stuff in the past which is why I refused to tell you my old account because whilst I did play year one and I did play since beta and day one on that account it has no other stats unlike my current account if you think I'm still fake then please get lost with your hilarious post about how unless you no lifed destiny 1 your opinion doesn't matter There's probably hundreds of thousands of beta players who either gave up before taken king or gave up before launch of destiny 1 if you don't want their opinion your cutting out 50% of the good opinions.

    • Yes, I am from the D1 Alpha, and Beta. And the D2 Beta is good. There s just not a lot there for us to experience, which is understandable. The changes to the supers is a good one. Sentinel changes are good, the abilities for Warlock work well in tandem with Titans shield. From the two exotics I've used, Sweet Business and Sunshot feel like theyre exotic in power. Submachine guns feel underpowered, the new sidearms though. But that's about it. I liked the Nergal pulse rifle I have, the Minuet handcannon. Fusion Rifles and even the Linear Fusion Rifle are better in the heavy slot. Although the Linear Fusion Rifle may need some more power for what's going on there. The Crucible is playing very well. There is no overabundance of supers being abused, no overpowering weapons that are significantly dominating play. No specific ability is too powerful for anyone to handle. So it feels legit. We could stand to have the supers charge maybe a little faster, but not too much. Having a super twice in a match would be nice. Lol. Because right now it's just one time. In D1 it wasn't uncommon for some teams to have supers like 5+ times a match. Which was overkill. It feels better with less, but yet, we should get like 1 more super per match.

Played the game from the Beta, 15 off max grimoire, have over 2000+ hours. ( I'm also not exclusive to one part of Destiny either. I've played a fair amount of both PvE and PvP in D1 and done well in both. ) I'm really looking forward to the beta. I'll tell you my opinions in like 4 hours lol.

      • Played the D1 alpha and girmore doesn't matters .. all it comes to has who has the least life ...hence the most time too play .... thoughts on the beta The class ability of the hunter lacks the same level of utility as the titan(mini shields) and warlock (heals or dmg). The new warlock class basically has the hunter class ability baked in to its super. So to solve this why not have the hunters class ability grant invisibility for the fire team ( think the nightstalker's smoke bomb ) . This solves the problem and will make the hunter far more competitive

      • not a pvp'er by any means but I hold my own...that being said...the guns did feel a little weak and movement seemed sluggish plus the ttk seemed a little long....on the pve side...the mission (homecoming) was awesome...it has its heart pumping moments...best part was during the middle part of the mission when you had to defend with zavala, other guardians spawned in (I had 2 spawn in at that time) we all defended and just as fast they were gone...it was a welcome addition...but lets be real here...we've been playing the same missions for 3 years now so any new content is going to be great...
day 1 player here...top 1% in time wasted on destiny but sadly my grimoire is only 5485...so I missed your requirements by 15...lol
• I like it. It feels like D1 but polished, balanced & fixed. The weapons all feel really well balanced and they ( exotics ) don't feel OP. This is correct for a sequel. But we have People who want bungie to go COD and make all weapons take enemies down with 2 shots from an auto rifle and have outrageous things like wall running and what not. This game is a team players dream. Must coordinate with team mates and come up with some strategy. Run & Gun days are over, and I'm feeling really good about it. The strike is long and the map is huge. We took our sweet time exploring and taking the enemies together. This is how destiny should be played. With a solid team and excellent communication. Some players feel like it's D1 but reskinned. The true Destiny players will tell you that it's not. Bungie, you have done a fantastic job. Don't listen to the bitch boy COD Noobs. See you out there boys.

      • Pve felt ok but pvp hasn't won me over yet. Guns feel weak and team shooting feels cancerous, but I could still blame it on the game mode or the 4v4 aspect. But all that aside yes I'm still gonna play it

          • Not sure if I count, but I have 5380 and from the beginning, also well over 1000+ hrs, and I like it. I mean I'm not a huge fan of the new crucible mode, but I'm not a huge pvp'er so my opinion on that means nothing. The strike was fun, first story mission was fun, I like the new weapon system (although a few improvements could help it along a bit) all in all I'm pretty keen to see what the full game has to offer.

          • Is 1k hours and 5000+ grimore that important though? Like I know I would have been over 1K hours if SBMM didn't ruin my fun. (never paid attention to grimore though). But then Titanfall 2 came out so I had no reason to waste time with laggy SBMM. The graphics are pretty good. Nothing mind-blowing but they're good and it seems like the story mode will try to be more interesting this time. The new exotic hand cannon is cool. Can't think about positives about game-play pretty much everything feels nerfed, 4v4 is boring, full teams seem to have an even bigger advantage now that the importance of individual skill is pretty much gone . PvE enemies and things are designed really well but fighting them gets boring pretty quickly because of everything being nerfed. Like the Strike boss felt like a mini raid boss but we couldn't really do anything but shoot him with primaries so it was boring. It shouldn't have been boring . I that boss was in D1 it would be fun

Sorry but grimoire doesn't mean shit. I could be 5000+ if icould be bothered to go get the other 100 pointless ghosts. As for time, a thousand hours into one game is not a small amount. just cause somebody had 3x the time to waste doesn't make their opinion more valid. Then again you are wasting your time looking for correlations. Either you like it or don't, end of.

            • I personally think there's a correlation between time spent and review. Now, there are of course exceptions to every rule - or in this case; theory - but it wouldnt surprise me if this was true. D2's biggest problem, IMO, will be that it's too similar to D1 - give or take small tweaks that could have been in any D1 patch for the first game - and that a lot of avid players are worn out. Someone who hasnt played D1 as much will obviously be less worn out and show more excitement.

            • Yes I have the criteria you are looking for. This is what I will say about the beta. Spoilers ahead if you haven't played. May be a long read. For PvE: The enemies seem to have more health and some of the higher tier enemies are more of a threat. This is good. The loadout system is fine, it works. For most of the strike there is no need to use power ammo. However it also does not drop that much, meaning you hardly get any opportunities to use them. Especially at the boss where you do need power ammo. Also for a strike, the super charge rate is too low. I think I only got one or two supers in the whole strike. They don't feel that powerful against some of the enemies, so having the supers at the current recharge rate makes supers feel underwhelming. I enjoyed the strike, it looked good, the boss encounter was very cool and I really like the 3 stage formula. The story mission also was really cool, and quite immersive. I like how engaged the characters are and the story is intriguing. Seeing Shaxx, Cayde, Zavala and Ikora all trying to do their own thing to help as much as they can, it will end up dispersing them and I want to find out what happens to each of them next. The end cutscene with our Guardian protecting our Ghost, I felt that showed our Guardian's personality and character, that he cares about something, and I'd like to see more of those moments in the full game. I thought that first story mission was a good prologue to the game, very excited and intrigued for what comes next in the story. However, the part where Ghaul blocks the Traveler and our Light is taken out, please give that sequence to the Special Effects team that did the Black Garden sequence, it looked underwhelming. This is our Light, the essence of our being, so it should look more dramatic to really drive home that impact. For PvP: The 4v4 setup, combined with faster games is quite intense. The maps are great, not too big, not too small, and they fit their modes well. You only get one super in the match, which is fine because the matches aren't that long. Class abilities recharge at a nice rate. There is a lot of criticism about the power of grenades but I did get a couple of multikills with my Lightning grenade. So what I will say about that is use the grenades to support your gunplay, not to lead fights and not to base your strategy around it. Gunplay is king in PvP. You must land your shots, you must be accurate. You need to think about evading, you need to think about every engagement and how you can come out on top. The supers all come out pretty much at the same time so I didn't see much gunning down supers, though I think it's possible. Super fights are very fun but you need a strategy when fighting an enemy super. Just going in and bashing buttons won't work. I felt like the weapons were balanced against each other, I didn't feel like I was cheated by the enemy when I died. I only used Pulse, Auto, SMG, Grenade Launcher and Shotgun. The primaries are fine but SMG is not good. SMGs need a stability improvement because the shots go all over the place and it's hard to control, even when you really try to control it, it just feels like a worse Auto rifle which is sad because I was excited about using SMGs. Grenade Launchers just didn't work out for me, the damage just isn't there in my opinion. I won't talk much about subclasses because I have not used them all, but I will say that before you go in with them, inspect them and read them first so you become familiar with them. Also do the same with your armour, I really like the new stat system that we have, but if the subclass and stats aren't set up to your preferences you will not be able to fully appreciate the game because of those physical limitations. That's all, thanks for reading.

            • Nope Day Beta player 1400 hours and 5570 grimoire played as sentinel titan and the super took an age to charge, and the shield throw was more like a wet fart. Ran out of ammo several times. Cant decide if enemies have too much health or guns are hilariously underpowered

              • Bungie have missed the boat with weapon potency, once I got over the sparklies last night I was gutted at how bland everything was, and when I think about it now it's probably that I was hoping that D2 at the start was going to be like D1 with very powerful weapons and perks, instead they look like they wreck face and are in fact utter shite...shotguns in the fkn heavy slot?
