The ending of the duel may have given it away: the mage twirled his obsidian black staff like a spear, forcing the knightess back to the corner of the dirt arena, the only thing that stopped her from falling over being a wooden fence that circulated around the entire circle of an arena. As she was cornered, the elf saw this as an opportunity, bursting forwards and flipping his staff to the sharpened end and dropping to one knee, stabbing forwards towards the knightess' unguarded left shoulder.
Utilizing her shield, the knightess would merely have to block, but she took it further than a simple block: she swung the shield to her left, dragging the spear to the side and lodging it into the wooden fence. The mage panicked before the pommel of the knight's straight sword - still oddly familiar, with a dull golden hilt and a completely straight, doublebladed edge for the sword - slammed into his cheek, knocking him back.
"...H-Ha. Well done." The elvish man laughed through his pain, as the knight worryingly dropped her shield and sheathed her sword before helping him up to his feet.
"Does it hurt?" She questioned in such a soft, quiet voice, as the man merely shook his head and laughed calmly. He left the arena, leaving the knight to clean off her sword and shield.
