Why can't they set it up so that these events are automated?
It seems like it'd be pretty easy to do with some simple RNG. Random Number for the Trials map, choosing again if it picks a map that's already appeared in the last few weeks. Another Random Number to decide which bounties to use, and another to decide what IB loot is available.
I get that it's probably a ****-ton more complicated than that...but surely it's doable?
Even though Destiny is at the end of its life cycle, there could still be people who will want to play the game in the future. They could be old fans returning from D2 for nostalgia, or they could be curious individuals who buy the game on sale. I think these events should remain so that these people don't miss out on the experiences that we've enjoyed all this time.
Plus, there's a ton of loot that's ONLY available from these activities, and it'd really suck to have all of them permanently rendered impossible to obtain.
-
Because Bungie thinks forcing people to buy the next game is a good idea.
-
Simple......to get you to throw money at the screen and buy D2.
-
Doable? Sure, but MM times would be outrageous and if you think lag is bad now, you don't want to see it when most of the active players are gone.
-
if they want the destiny experience, they need to play it when it is in its current iteration, not the bargain bin afterthought.
-
How else do they force PVP players to adopt D2?
-
Money & Promote Destiny 2. When D2 releases, D1 support is dropping.
-
Because you need the latest DLC to play them. The newest DLC is D2. Throw more money at the screen or suffer. Remember they did the same in year 1. Then with TTK. And agin with ROI. Completely stupid to turn them off. They are already automated. Bungie is really talking physical effort to disable them.
-
They do this so you have to buy the latest version of Destiny to keep playing the activities you love. Bungie only thinks about dollar signs.
-
Because if they leave them in D1 why would you ever buy D2?
-
Take this as you wish, but anyone who plans on staying in D1 after D2 drops should honestly be happy the servers are still on. lol They are trying to leave this game in the past as best they can.
-
Because PvP is AIDS to this game
-
-
-
Most likely because the servers that run it will eventually be shut down/ not be maintained.... (even though they said you can still enjoy d1 content after d2 releases)
-
Because they only want your money. They don't give a flying -blam!- about you, or your entertainment
-
Seriously...the player base is gonna die when d2 comes out.
-
They're going to bring it back as something new. Don't you know Bungie by now?
-
It used to be that Bungie built games that were so good and had so many options as to ways to play that they were compelling to play in their own right. Now days, with D1 being forced to become mediocre and so many questions arising about D2, it seems that Bungie has now taken the tact of eliminating options to compel players to play their games.
-
To force people on to d2
-
To bottleneck/ force the hand/ reduce options of players so they begin to think and highly consider the purchase of D2 (more money in their pocket). It is the same method they applied with all expansions, this sequel or massive expansion is no different.
-
I wish they would keep putting updates out on D1. Revert match making, give us a little special... Give us something to do with all the crap we collected for the last 3 years. You ever get the feeling that alot of D2 is ideas that they didn't have time to finish up and was planned to be in D1.

Edited by KitsuneSonow: 7/3/2017 1:35:32 AMI am kinda laughing at a bit of irony because when people made the same suggestions for ps3/xbox360 back when it was announced that those versions were no longer getting either activity....EVERY SINGLE FUCKING ONE OF YOU did nothing but turn your noses up to the last gen players and mocked them for "wanting Bungie to waste more time on something outdated" all the while calling them poor kids and making fun of them in any way imaginable. Well, Karma's a bitch ain't it?
-
Trials and banner have always been live events reserved for the latest iterations of the game. They are migrating to d2, that's all there is to it.
-
Yeah, I don't get this. Maybe to save server resources?
