As far as Niles was aware a day ago, he was a dead man fated to fry in the sun with nothing more than a few cans of food and a little water to get him through the sand covered wasteland with a truck running on empty and a single Jerry can that would only get him a few more miles out. He didn't realize how close he was to making his way out of the desert hell he was in.
Before his old rig ultimately ran dry, he started to see traces of green far out into the horizon. There were hints of vegetation at his feet when he opened the door to start pushing the armor rigged pickup sticking a pair of locking pliers on the steering wheel to keep it straight and putting it in neutral.
When he finally took a breather the atmosphere was much different. He sat down under a tree cutting open a can of beans with one of his knives and ate as he figured out his next move. No more water meant he would have to find some before he started hauling his pickup again. Dehydration would only lead to more problems compared to taking a few hours to track down a water source. He saw a mountain not too far out with what looked to be a town in the distance.
He picked up his duffle bag of ammo, sorted out the bullets his revolver took and put them in a different compartment from the rest and slung his grenade launcher on a back holster. Making sure he didn't leave anything too valuable in the truck as he walked out to see what he could get his hands on.
[spoiler]Open. The town he stumbled across is the dojo[/spoiler]

[i]a faint sound of wings can be heard in the distance. It sounded quite large but it was coming from behind. As a large black shadow could be seen looming over the sand as it's large body blocked out the sun as it got closer. The sound of its wings could be heard then a distance voice could be heard it sounds like a young woman.[/i] "Oi you there need a lift?"the woman shouts [i] soon a giant fuchsia and black colored bird lands not off. It dwarfs the already small looking woman thats riding on its back. The woman is wearing desert garb. so what she looks like is a mystery except for her bright green catlike eyes as she hops off the large bird's back petting it large head as it looks at the man. [/i]

He stared for a few seconds trying to figure whether he was hallucinating from his lack of water or if what was in from of him was really happening. He took his hand a brushed some of the dirt off his chest and then twisted the front of his gas mask to open. "Depends, what's in it for you?" Niles didn't seem particularly trustful even with his large brute of a physique he was smart enough to question things before agreeing blindly.

"Well im already heading that direction when i saw you walking below. Im just trying friendly is all"she says [i]she lowered the veil that covered her face and she was a woman who was young still in her late teens with very dark skin. The woman's ears couldn't be seen though. She pulled a canteen off her belt and held out[/i] "You thristy ?"she asks

"Hmph" The large man unfastened his mask. He had a very muscular jaw and a scar on his upper lip and eyebrow. His hair was dark and messy. He took the canteen from her and had a gulp sighing from finally not having water that tasted like plastic. "Where exactly is this anyways?"

"This is the byoki desert im surprised you made it this far on foot though especially in this heat."says akiko [i]her bird was looking around the area as akiko stood in its shadow.[/i] "She is actually strong enough to easily carry two people on her back if your worried about weight"says akiko

"I ain't exactly no angel just so ya know." He walked up the the large bird, not really sure how to get aboard.

[i]the large bird lowers it body so they can both climb on. It had a large saddle strapped to its back between the large gap between its wings and neck. Akiko was holding its harness so he could climb on. She would be climbing on after him because she would the one controling the bird in flight.[/i] "Don't worry you wont fall"says akiko

Niles got aboard the large bird still not sure what he was getting himself into. He didn't seem to really care as long as he was making progress to getting away from the blistering sand covered mess he spent so much time wandering in.

[i]the bird held still as he climbed on to it's back. Akiko climbs on next sitting in front of him. She has hold on the reins as the bird stands back up with them on it's back.[/i] "Hang on tight we are taking off"says akiko [i]she pulls the reins and the bird opens it large wings. With a large flap of its wings it lifts off the ground as flaps its wings going even higher. Its not long before they no longer on the ground but in the air flying over the sunbaled sands.[/i]

It was hard to tell if Niles was acting tough or scared sh_tless as he held on completely quiet as the bird took off. After a few seconds he started talking again. "There's raiders out in those deserts, whole clans of em. All killing for the others stuff. I can't go and call myself innocent but damn, what a man can do to another man..."

"Yeah it's seems like that pretty common though i mean where i from there were a lot like that"says akiko [i]she kept her eye straight ahead as she guided her bird towards the town in the distance making much better progress than of foot.[/i]

"What about this town? Doesn't look as roughed up as the ones in the badlands"

"I will agree with you there but what is the badlands i haven't heard of these before"says akiko [i]they appear to be getting closer to the town as they can see it in the distance now.[/i]

The first thing that Niles began marking in his head was where the gas stations and resturaunts he could see were. Diesel and propane, he knew what that would do in his truck. "Much farther out in the desert are a bunch of bombed out towns and citys. Ain't nothing else out there for a few hundred miles. It's either kill enough to scare everyone else away, join a clan of lunatics and hope there's some food at the bottom of that can being tossed around, or just hide and hope no one tries to kill ya."

"I typically avoid places like that but most dont really bother me here too much cause been here before though."says akiko

"Hmph, it's a good idea to keep a way from those kinds of places." He said thinking back to the place.

"Yeah definitely alright hang on tight now we are landing."says akiko [i]the bird is starting to land nearby in a large spot near the stables. Akiko can see several people down below sheild their eyes from the sand that get kicked up a bit when she lands. Akiko can see several young kids looking up at the bird and point. She waits for the the bird to land when the bird does she disembarks when lowers itself down fully. She grabs her bird's reins as some of locals come up couple of the kids she greets as large man walking over. Which akiko waves to. Akiko looks back at him. [/i]

Niles dropped down and made his way out to one of the gas station he saw on his way when they made touchdown. He didn't really say anything when he left. It was likely he was focused on the task at hand.

[i]akiko didn't really notice as she had her own things to attend too. As she stood there talking to the person that had walked up from before. But she wouldn't leave without him though.[/i]
