Trinary Star Rising Chapter 4 Part 3

Sorry this took so long to post, work and school have been my main focus recently. Anyways, enjoy the chapter! “Are the storms really that dangerous?” I asked, walking towards zone A. “Yes. If you are anywhere near the blast radius you and your ghost can easily be killed, and the amount of darkness left behind makes it hard for our ghosts to revive us even if we died from something else.” Felix said with surprising seriousness, which made me start running for the entrance. When I got past the vex doors I slowed down and saw that Sarah was sitting with her back against the center cube while the 2 Dead Orbit guardians and Axton didn’t look to happy about the cap point being locked right before they capped it. Deciding that it would be better not to aggravate them I sat down next to Sarah and we looked out towards where we started the match. A few minutes later a burst of taken energy struck outside, making our ears ring. As I was still recovering I thought I heard a shout and the sound of a gunshot. Looking around the pillar I saw the Titan stabbing Axton with the bayonet of his auto rifle. The gunshot came from the smoking hand cannon that fell from his twitching fingers onto the remains of his ghost. With a shove the Titan pushed Axton off the edge where he fell, soundlessly into the abyss. “Uhh Felix, got an idea on how long the storm’s going to last?” I asked, pulling out my hand cannon. “Dunno, could be 15 minutes. Could be an hour.” Felix replied. “I don’t think Sarah and I have 15 minutes.” I said, loading my hand cannon. “What do you mean by that?” Felix and Sarah said simultaneously. “The other Titan killed Axton and his ghost.” I said. Sarah immediately pulled out her shotgun. “Son of a…” Felix started. “We’ll try to get over there somehow. In the meantime try not to die.” “Easier said then done.” I thought, turning to confront them. “Oh, so you saw what happened?” The Titan taunted. “Well you’re next!” He shouted, tossing a flashbang between us. While I was blinded I felt someone tackle me to the ground. Instinctively I crossed my arms in front of my face and a second later a fist slammed into my arms. The Titan. I thought, knowing that: A. If it was the hunter I would have a knife in me, and B. hunters usually don’t hit like a battering ram. When my eyes cleared I saw the Titan punch me in the chest and immediately followed up with a hit to the head when my guard dropped. Putting his boot on my chest to pin me he looked to my left, following his gaze I saw that Sarah and the Hunter were slowly circling each other looking for an opening. Eventually the Hunter got tired of waiting and swung with the knife. Going under the swing Sarah punched him in the stomach and immediately elbowed him in the back, knocking him to the ground. As Sarah walked towards us the Hunter slashed at the back of her leg and as she fell he did the same to her back. Taking his foot off me the Titan grabbed me by the chest and tossed me next to Sarah who wasn’t moving and was bleeding heavily through the large gash on her back. “Why are you doing this?” I asked, trying to ignore the pain in my chest and head. “Still haven’t figured it out?” The Titan asked with a laugh. “Trinary Star.” I whispered. “Yep, first those recruits, then Axton and now you.” He replied, loading a machine gun. “If you are here to kill us then why haven’t you already done it?” I questioned. “If there weren’t bigger targets here you wouldn’t be alive.” He answered. “Felix…” I said with understanding. “As well as Angel and Will. You see, we put a camera in the hall that told us everything that the Vanguard did, including when they gave them the mission to hunt us down.” During this conversation I noticed that the Hunter didn’t say anything. Either he just didn’t talk or he was nervous about something. “As soon as we kill them you’re next.” He said, laughing, until a sniper round bounced off the rock next to him.” “Why don’t you let them go and we can talk face to face!” Felix shouted above from the central entrance. “Tempting offer, but I’ll pass.” He replied, firing his weapon at Felix, who simply walked backwards to avoid the rounds. “Come out and fight me!” He shouted, reloading. “If you’re just going to hide then fine! Take this!” He yelled, tossing a flashbang up to Felix’s hiding spot. When it exploded Felix cried out and immediately the Titan stuck a lightning grenade to the ceiling, killing Felix with the first burst of Arc energy. “One down, 2 to go! Who’s next?” He shouted to nobody. “Me!” Angel shouted from the entrance to our left, holding a fusion rifle in her right hand while her left hand was wreathed in Solar energy. “Are you going to do something this time?” the Titan asked the Hunter who shrugged and started firing at the entrance. A flash of orange light in the corner of my eye caught my attention. Looking up I was shocked to see Felix covered in the same Solar energy, holding his bow which was a mix of Solar and Void, while the arrow was still pure Void energy. Pulling the arrow back he fired the arrow behind the Hunter and then turned and fired 2 more behind the Titan. When they landed the arrows snared the 2 of them while ignoring Sarah and I. Satisfied that they weren’t threats anymore Felix jumped down while Angel ran in. “How are you alive? I thought we couldn’t be revived due to the darkness after a blast.” I asked, watching the flames die out as he leaned me against the wall. “You’re correct and I would be dead if not for Angel.” Felix stated. “But there was no way for her to revive you and run over to the entrance in that amount of time.” I said, watching Angel inspect Sarah’s wound. “Some guardians use the light in different ways. Angel is able to revive other guardians from a distance with her Solar energy as well as heal their wounds if she focuses.” Felix explained, removing the front of my dented chestplate. “Anything hurt?” “Chest, head and arms.” “Well Jace, you’re his ghost what’re his injuries?” Felix asked Jace who finally appeared.” “Arms are bruised, one of his ribs are cracked and he has a minor concussion.” Jace answered, slowly healing my injuries. “How did you get here? Isn’t dangerous to be out during the storm?” I asked. “Since the Taken storm is somewhat attracted to light yes. But if you have a theoretical magnet made of light then practically everyone would be completely safe.” Angel said, looking up from Sarah. “What do you mean by practically everyone?” I questioned. “Wait, where are Will and Ashley?” I asked. “Will borrowed DarkDrinker and used Ward of Dawn to create enough light to attract most of the Storm while Angel and I were outside. Ashley also helped by slowing the effects of Void Freeze on Will.” Felix replied.
