In year one the exotic drop rates we extremely low. The only way to really get one was from xur. It didn't make the exotic better or feel exotic , it just made it scarce.
The suros was in the meta at the time and EVERYONE used it. Crucible was a nightmare of you didn't have it. Trust me when I say that it's good the way it is now.
