Destiny: Legend Untold Chptr 8 Pt 2

Chapter 8: Fireteam Part Two Then something odd happened. I heard a yell in the distance, growing closer by the second. Simply just someone shouting with enjoyment, and as it got closer I heard the sound of an engine underneath. Sierra and the Knight turned towards the sound as well, which was now clearly coming from the doorway Sierra and I had entered the area through. After a moment a Sparrow burst out at full speed, barreling towards us with the yelling person on it. The driver went straight for the Knight. The Knight advanced forward slowly, raising its sword for the moment when the Guardian on the Sparrow stopped to get off. But he didn't stop. As the Sparrow got close to the Knight, the Guardian actually accelerated and hopped off moments before contact with the Knight, the Sparrow still shooting forward. Clearly not expecting that either, the Knight took a speeding Sparrow to the gut and was launched backwards a few feet, landing on its back. In a flash of purple mixed with bright colors, the Guardian sailed through the air after the Sparrow, landing on the Knight and bringing his fists down on its chest. The Guardian began pounding down on the Knight's head repeatedly, bellowing out a series of nonsense in a voice almost as familiar to me as the ridiculous colors of his armor. "WAR *thunk* IS *thunk* THE ONLY *thunk* CONSTANT! *thunk thunk thunk*" He shouted in his metallic voice. "Drew?" I asked curiously. The Guardian looked up at me. "Ay! Tower newbie! Didn't think I'd find you out here!" The Knight growled weakly underneath Drew and he gave it one final punch, dissolving it into dust and bone, then he turned back to me and asked, "Did ya also hear the Vanguard's message and come to bash in some Hive skulls?" "Actually, we were here before the Vanguard alerted everyone. We came in just after the Guardian who found the Hive," Sierra told him. I detected an edge in her tone. Drew seemed to notice her harsh voice and studied her for a few moments. Then he started a bit and awkwardly waved his hand in greeting. "Um, hi, you're the girl from the Crucible who wouldn't stop-" Drew began, but was cut short by Sierra. "I told you, my Ghost was playing tricks on me," Sierra said through gritted teeth. "And I've still never heard of any other Ghost doing anything even close to what happened then," Drew countered. John chose that moment to appear by Sierra. "Yeah, you can't go blaming an innocent Ghost for every bad thing you do," he nagged. "Why you-" Sierra swung at John, but he disappeared as quickly as he had come. The atmosphere was so tense and awkward between Drew and Sierra that I was actually glad to hear the shriek of more Thrall. "Well now that we're done saying hello to each other, let's give the Hive a hello," I said, readying my scout rifle for the Hive that were coming. "Definitely!" Drew exclaimed, "Oh it's so awesome to finally have a fireteam!" Then the Hive were rushing out once again, meeting our bullets. In the noise made by our weapons and the Hive, only my Ghost heard me ask, "What's a fireteam?" My Ghost answered me as I fought. "A fireteam is a group of two or three Guardians," he told me, "It can be temporary, just uniting for a couple missions, or it can be a group who's always together and supporting each other." "Sounds like a good system," I commented, then started at the sound of another Knight's roar. I pulled out my shotgun, ready for it this time. I began running up the rubble of the collapsed building and towards the Hive structure. The Knight emerged with a few Acolytes and they began moving towards Drew and Sierra. The Knight wielded a large gun this time, giant blue blasts erupting from it when it was fired. But before it could take more than a few steps away from the structure, I was jumping down on it from the rubble that was piled up around it. The Knight stumbled only a little under the impact of me landing on and latching onto its back, but it stopped advancing and started trying to throw me off. While Sierra and Drew shot down the Acolytes, I planted my shotgun barrel against the Knight's exposed neck. I pulled the trigger and fell as the Knight collapses, landing on my feet in a heap of Hive dust and bone. The other two Guardians finished up and walked up to me, all of us keeping our guns ready. "They should really reconsider leaving so much neck exposed. They have so much armor everywhere else on their bodies," I said, loading a shell into my shotgun to fill the space left in the clip. Drew laughed at that, "Hey, don't go giving them tips on how to fight better Rookie." "Don't worry, I won't," I said with a grin, "And my names not Rookie." "Oh the big bad kinder-Guardian has got himself a name," Drew said jokingly, "Come on then, a fireteam has got to know each other's names." "It's William," I chuckled and gestured to Sierra, "It seems you've all ready met Sierra here." "Yeeaaah," Drew said uncomfortably. "Can we just go back to the Tower?" Sierra asked angrily, eager to leave for the first time since we arrived. "Yes, let's get out of here," I replied, happy that the Hive had finally quit rushing out of their structure. Our Ghosts brought in our ships and within a minute we were transmatted into our respected cockpits. I let my Ghost keep control and we ascended higher up into the atmosphere. It was silent for a moment as we each waited for someone else to say something, but I guess Drew wasn't actually waiting like me and Sierra. His voice broke in loudly over the coms, shouting, "That was awesome! Best! Day! Ever!" Then a much quieter female voice came on the coms, nervous and barely above a whisper, and I realized it was Drew's Ghost. "Drew and I are happy to finally have a team. I'm Sally, I hope we will be compatible with this new team," it said. They seem like polar opposites, I thought, then smiled, I bet they get along well. I heard Drew quietly congratulating Sally for talking to us, clearly trying not to be heard over the coms, which proved my theory. The other four of us greeted Sally, welcoming her to the conversation. "Well fireteam," I asked after the pleasantries were over, "Where to next?" ________________________________________ Link to ToC:https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/212710816/0/0 Link to Chapter 8 Part 1:https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/212773859/0/0 Link to Chapter 9 Part 1:https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/215288936/0/0
