Ah bless. The OP is upset that people like me, on a really good wage, don't want to pre-order a game so he trots out all sorts of reasons for it when in reality its none of his business. The car crash that Destiny was at launch would be a valid reason for not pre-ordering on its own but the fact nothing about Destiny 2 has been released, apart from a story element, is the main one for me. You pay for the things you mentioned because you KNOW what you are getting when you pay someone for a service like a meal in a restaurant. There is a menu, you make a choice and you pay for it AFTER you have had it. What you are doing is handing over money and saying "Just give a game, any game." and then making out people who don't want to are the problem !! .. Head. Wobble. Give. .. then look in the mirror for why games like Destiny and others are sold far from completed .. *whispers* .. its because they already have your money genius. If you want to pay upfront for Destiny 2 then go right ahead, its your money. But coming out with drivel like saying that if we don't pre-order we wont have games as they wont go to launch just shows the naivety of the zombie like pre-order enthusiasts like you that companies like Bungie exploit. Based on your logic you are happy to sit down in a restaurant, hand over a handful of cash and get a meal, any meal. I really hope Bungie never come to a sudden halt as fanboys like you are going to go shoulder deep in their lower colon. The competition for space would be funny though.

  • I've never gone to a fast food restaurant that gave me my food first, so I think your analogy has a few holes in it.

Firstly you pay AFTER you eat in a restaurant, I never mentioned fast food place but No one gets anything without paying for it. The point is pre ordering D2 is like walking in to a fast food place and handing over money for a meal without knowing if it's a burger, a pizza or a curry. Right now no one knows anything about the game !!

  • Or you could just wait until you see some of the finished product in May and decide then. I bought a new car last month, I didn't rock up and hand over my money when I heard this model was coming out. I waited to see what it looked like, had a test drive and then, having liked what I saw .. I bought it. If people want to hand over money to Bungie with no idea of what they are getting then hey, its not my money. I don't really care. But, in my view, pre ordering a game blind and handing developers money for something that they wont tell you anything about yet is idiotic. Just a point of view, thats all. My issue was with the OP lecturing people, talking drivel like saying that if we don't hand over our money blind we wont have any games developed, and generally acting like a Bungie suck up. Look at what happened with Destiny 1 .. that alone should be a solid reason to see what you're getting.

I can understand your point, and for some it's certaintly a valid reason not too, but in my case I think I owe it to myself to at least try any new release by them. I've loved every single Bungie game I've played, so I know I'd be more dissapointed if I took someone else's word that it was bad than I'd be if I spent money to find out for myself. Concerning OP's point though, you are both wrong and right. Will a protest against pre-ordering wouldn't kill off the big AAA games, it'd undoubtedly have long-lasting effects in the industry for a while. Even if the funding from pre-orderig isn't crucial to each game's budget, it is definitely their best means to measuring interest in it...so, by taking that way fron them, there'll probably be a lot of games that get cancelled until the industry could sort itself out and establish another method. While I won't try to say pre-ordering is a perfect practice, I can't agree that its benefits are iutweighed by the drawbacks. While it has the potential to contribute in the practice of releasing unfinished games, this is not at all something that is the fault of pre-orders alone, and I personally believe the inprecedented amohnt of user involvment pre-ordering beings is worth the risk of all the "maybe"'s. Simply put, I know there's no real "good" reason to spend money ahead of time. But to me, all the pre-order incentives, community involvements, closed beta-acess, and general feelings of hype amongst fans make the risk ABSOLUTELY worth it to me... I'm not a car guy at all, but I like to imagine there would be quite a few people who would "pre-order" a car if they were offered the ability to drive it before anybody else, and get special doors or something that were unique for them. In the end, we buy games for our happiness, so the joy of pre-ordering in and of itself should be justification enough, no? EDIT: Made this at like 3am so expects typos... I'll fix it up in the morning after sleep lol

  • Yet he isn't complaining about people that don't want to preorder, he's complaining about all the people that try and get everyone else to not preorder
