It's a domino effect. And it starts at the top. And it hurts those at the bottom, aka the consumer. It's the largest pyramid scheme in existence. Corporate America. And people defend it, while simultaneously demonizing pyramid schemes. Any attempt to better yourself, is actually just a payment to someone else, who then might give you a permission. It doesn't matter if you're the greatest doctor in the world because you researched on your own, watched doctors, and looked at medical books. If you don't pay for school and pay to get the piece of paper verifying your knowedlge, even first hand experience isn't enough of a verification. Yet with a piece of paper saying you paid, and no first hand verification, you are considered verified more than the knowledgeable doctor with no degree.
