Get a job... Happy Easter, kids.

You Children without any liquid income are not the target demographic. The sooner you accept this the happier you will be. For "kids" that think that not preordering the game is going to somehow change the quality at release; you do understand that these games were already made years ago and that your purchase does not change them don't you? ●Good games like we had on NES, Sega, PS1 etc. were only complete games without DLC because the Internet had not yet become a viable media for the average consumer. ●It's not hidden. The whole point of DLC is to substitute for lack of subscription fees. Xbox and Playstation already charge you for using your own internet. Bungie needs income to maintain servers and make a profit. ●If it costs 20 million to make a game that means you need to net 60 million to cover the first game to fund it's servers and the next game to stay in business. ○Now you have a widely availibe online environment thanks in most part to the target demographic of working ages 25 to 40 with liquid income that allows Development to expand games from 25 gigabytes to well over 60 gigabytes. ○We in turn purchase these games and Internet subscriptions for you our children. We buy your PS Network, Xbox Live, and we buy products placed in ads on your home screen that allow you the privilege to call yourself a "Gamer." You act as though there should be some kind of limitation on profit for Bungie, etc. as if there would be any games at all without any profit. ☆ ○Trees will stop being planted when you stop using paper. ○Ask yourself this, "How can I be opposed to preordering while at the same time I buy books, newspapers, or go to the movies?" ●When you don't preorder because you think the game is being cut up like a Pizza you are actually asking for a game that did not have planned expansion and just because you knew some additional content had already been developed you assume that it was cut from the original.
Start at paragraph 3 and stop here.
You whine and moan about pay to win, but you gladly play all the content it funds.
You can get a good look at a T- bone by sticking your head up a bulls a**, but I'd rather take the butchers word for it.
I gladly threw my money at my screen because I am an adult. I pay taxes for my streets. I pay taxes to feed the homeless people who live in my streets. I pay people to pump the crap from my toilets under my house. I pay for the guy who collects my garbage. But heaven forbid the company that adds a bit of enjoyment to my life make any profit on my preorder! Put simply if we all stop pre-ordering games today those games would not go to launch and we would never get to play them at all. GET A JOB! 1500+ Edit Day 3: Are you one of those kids with your hair sticking out from under the front of your crooked "baseball" cap and tight skinny jeans somehow still bunched up in the back? You look like you pooped your pants after a good window licking session. Toejam & Earl edit: people are complaining because I'm editing this post I see this as a live thread. Editing my thread is how I am able to respond to everyone at the same time and borrow other people's good insights in which case I always give them credit inside their original post.

Tl;dr pre orders are important for developers since they need to meet a quota for publishers, a decrease in pre orders is noticed and something to fear. But let me talk down to you, pre orders mean everything to a company, how many pre order they get when announced helps them calculate their profit. Now, let's say 1.5 million pre ordered. That's a good number for a game that has no gameplay trailer, people just blind bought a game based on the original. It's livestream day, the developers show case what they've been working on. Now this is a very important day, because from my point of view they told us we are leaving are stuff behind because of a new game engine, and most likely a huge rework of weapons and armor, etc. If I see barely a smidgen of change, I'm not pre ordering. Say the 1.5 million dropped to 900,000. That's a lot of money lost, that's a consumer base lost. You have less people investing in your game for the next three years, to a smart company, they pay attention, they notice. If a game reveal is bad developers will know it by a decrease in pre orders, when game reveals should increase because they are buyers who want to see the product before they make a purchase. So if you didn't get the hesitant buyers, and lost a sold person? You're messing up already, that's why pre orders matter, a company knows how much money they'll make by the numbers, and some companies have a quota for games, and I doubt Activision expects no less than a million. Because if they notice the games not doing good currently, they most likely won't give it a chance to improve and just cut the funds. Edit: see Activision/Bungie doesn't care if the game lost players in year 3, they've gotten their money. But not getting their money for a brand new title is something else, they need your money. Money is the most powerful thing in the world, use it wisely.

  • Pre ordering hurts more than it helps. The industry, especially with this garbage title, are under absolutely NO obligation to release any dlc whatsoever its right in the TOS. So they can release whatever pay wall laden snooze fest they'd like and let that be it. Also, here's a few terms bungie seems to have an incorrect working definition of: expansion, MMO, balance, tuning, rewards system, arsenal, legendary, exotic, perk, consumer appreciation, fun.

  •
GET A JOB!
What do you think I've been trying to do for the past 2 years? For us young people, it's hard to find a job right now. I can't hold down a job because either my boss and co-workers are full of crap and never back me up on anything, or ignore the fact that I have a disability and don't treat me fairly.

    • I usually don't preorder unless I'm like a mega fanboy. The GameStop near me is usually quite busy, and I like physical media in general. "Pre-ordering is killing the market." It isn't. It's either the devs or the publishers. Activision has contracted Bungie to make games for them. It could be likely they might make a stand alone expansion to satisfy them. I sense deja vu. I got off topic.

      • Preordering just means you're less forgiving of a games shortcomings and all that yada yada yada. But let's be realistic here who here isn't going to preorder the game after they see gameplay? Who isn't going to buy the game at launch? Most of is will be getting this game anyway so will it really be hurting anything to preorder? And what other major AAA titles will release this fall? Cod *cough reskin cough* cod is deadish destiny 2 will (hopefully) fill the gap in our hearts from destiny 1.

            • cue "old man yells at cloud" meme. Your vapid argument about income and the age/employment status of gamers aside, pre-ordering does hurt games because it encourages developers to cut content from base games to repackage as DLC. This is especially true with digital copies of games that can be harder to return. Go watch totalbiscuit's video on pre-ordering and some of the related ones, might just change your mind.

Such a low quality post, like excrement. Here's the problem with it:
You Children without any liquid income are not the target demographic.
We know that it isn't true because Destiny and Destiny 2 are rated T for teen. The average age of gamers is 31 so you'd think 31 year olds would be the target demographic. If you did then you forgot that selling games to 31 year olds is easy because 31 year olds have a lot more disposable income than kids. Just like with all those PG-13 movies, the kids are the target demographic for games like Destiny.
For kids that think that not preordering the game is going to somehow change the quality at release
Ok, let's analyze this part of the sentence before we move on. There are a lot of people who think pre-ordering games is bad for gamers because buying games sight unseen encourages lower quality games. There are also a lot of people who have been burned by pre-orders. Some of those people are kids. I'm not sure why OP's message is limited to that group of people.
you do understand that these games were already made years ago and that your purchase does not change them don't you?
This is an outright falsehood. If OP's statement is true, then all the delays this generation wouldn't have happened. Games like Assassin's Creed Unity wouldn't have happened. Games are not only in development up to the stamping of the gold master, they are in development through the day one patch, and they often remain in development after release for further patches. There is time for player feedback to affect development of games throughout the pre-order period. It may not be enough time to take a Call of Duty out of space, but it is enough time to change an ending, micro-transaction plans, and weapon balancing. Keep you voices heard.
GET A JOB!
Kids, this message is for you and only you. It may seem nice to have disposable income to buy new consoles and video games. It is nice. But don't let immediate gratification interfere with your long term plans. In the long term, your income will increase with each degree you earn. Your studies should be your number one priority.

                    • Also. DLC also helps cover the cost of games. If there was no DLC you may find buying a game much more expensive from the outset.

                        • preorders were originally to make sure you would get a copy of the game on day one. now that everything is digital, preordering is just a way for company's to make money on hype and exclusive day one weapon skins.

                          • Pre-ordering may not affect the quality at release or the year 1 dlcs but it could affect future dlcs. If enough people don't pre-order then they might decide they aren't going to have high enough sales to produce quality dlcs in year 2 so they might cut the budget for them.
