Looks like they've done away with the poetic and awe-inspiring themes of the original trailers and ideas for the game, and are going all out with the half-baked humour, generic characters, and the awful dialogue that tries way too hard to be cheeky and cute, that's been present since post vanilla destiny. When I saw the Law of The Jungle trailer it made me think that Destiny would have emotion and care put into the dialogue, story telling, and over all feel of the game. Instead it's just subpar and forgettable. Who reacts like this when their home, and the last bastion of humanity is being actively destroyed? It would of been so much more impactful if we say Cayde, a character who is typically care free and snarky, terrified and distraught as everything he's been fighting for is being burned around him. I'd appreciate this series much more if the writing INGAME had the same poetic and mysterious nature of some the grimoire and pre release trailers.
Borderlands 2 does humor arguably well, while still doing characters and story telling even better. I see no reason why Destiny 2 can't do the same, if not just scrap the annoying humor and just focus on the ideals that were present when they were in the early stages of making this game. Like inducing a 'child-like sense of wonder'.
Not saying I'm not going to buy the game, its just disappointing to see the emotion and care that was put into the grimoire and pre release trailers bleed out of the experience until all that's left is a dry thoughtless husk that's sprinkled with little pieces of 'humor' and 'character' that were found in a garbage bin.
It just seems so... Uninspired. And the theme of the original trailers was just that. Hope and inspiration.

I get your point, although Cayde seems like one of those people who try to cover their fear by comic relief. I won't tell you how to live your life, but don't judge Destiny 2 right away. It may turn out (WORSE) or Better than the original.
-
You seem like one of those people I hate that criticizes and dislikes almost all movies because they think they know so much about story telling
-
woah it's stunning you're able to sum up Destiny 2 by the teaser to the teaser trailer.
-
Thank you
-
They wrote a teaser ........... this guy ☝🏻wrote a novel!
-
What can I say, I must care more about this franchise than the people writing/developing it. Also, quality name.
-
Everyone responsible for what awesomeness remained at launch were gone well beforehand.
-
I agree a little more ominous feeling would go a long way while the humor gets a short lived reaction. I still like Cayde and a lot of what they've done with him but it has gone a bit too far in that direction.
-
It's a teaser
-
Aye you right, that means it represents nothing about the tone of the final game huh?? The teaser has already confirmed that the city is destroyed by the cabal. Pretty hefty stuff in a Lil ol teaser.
-
It's a teaser for the trailer, it is meant to hype you up for the trailer, it doesn't set tone. But yes destiny 2 will definite have a more humorous tone, the dead pan seriousness didn't work out for them last time
-
Dead pan seriousness is not what was in the OG trailers. It was wonder and hope. A little humor goes a long way and is essentially required. Every good story will have comedic breaks. Its just that Cayde is starting to seem one sided, and they're sacrificing believability and authenticity of the characters and world of destiny for cheeky banter and pandering teasers.

You were kinda right, I knew the sequel would be funnier but I didn't think they would lose the awe and mystery
-
i did not want to reply, i am trying to fight it . you just cannot help yourself and suck the joy out of fun teezer that gives clear signs that destiny will be offering a more rounded experience .
-
You obviously didn't fight very hard. And I'll make a new post when the actual trailer drops, that will be equally as poopoo
-
Sound , off-fart-negative-like your girlfriend enjoying the new trailer. Great constructive post spread the love

These guys are so upset by your comment... But it was so accurate. I have mad love for Destiny 1, but would be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed in it's initial release.

All I want is for Bungie to truly care about their own game. Destiny could be even more legendary than their previous work, Halo. All they need is to put some passion into it.

I completely agree. D1 had so much potential, and it was wasted. Hopefully they have learned from their mistakes, and D2 will knock it out of the park. I'm going in with low expectations though.
