Read your post. Completely disagree with the conclusion. I was a have not, in your words. I didn't get tally until after xur sold it the second time. I never soloed anything. But I did raid I had fun in nightfalls and I couldn't care less about the stats or perks on the armor as long as the light was high. I was fond of that because things were unique and challenging. Bullet sponges sucked yes and rng still hates me. But in year 1 there was much much much more to do. So much more to collect that you actually wanted. Now the grind isn't worth it because there is so little to do and everything has been nerfed into oblivion. Exotics aren't unique anymore and my subclasses all feel weak AF. It has become a chore now to do anything raid related because it's not fun and unrewarding to deal with the remaining player base. Let's face it year 1 was better. Flawed but so much better than the current state. You made friends at loot cave. You had 2 raids and skolas to do. What now? No loot cave. A short raid we are woefully over leveled to complete.

  • You're actually incorrect in a lot of ways. I'll start with Raids. At any given time in the game there has only ever been 1 relevant raid. 1 at a time that levels you/drops end game gear. So not sure where you're being this two raids from? People quit vault as soon as Crota came out because you got over 30 from the DLC lol. Skolas was not a raid. However it did drop max gear, but more importantly etheric light. That's the only reason anyone did it because they wanted to upgrade vault era gear to max. Ok now, more to do in Y1 you say? Let's go down the list besides the obvious of finishing the story. -vanguard and crucible bounties -you mentioned farming loot cave. I'll give you that. It was a thing before it got patched. But do you remember everyone raging about farming materials like spinmetal? Want to go back to that? -the queen event for a couple weeks...lul -once Dark below came you could run into Blades of Crota and Eris had bounties. They became extinct when the Wolves came -House of Wolves had wolves prowling and a few bounties. Also now an extinct event. -Trials debuted -one raid at a time, then PoE during HoW. -could not chose what you get from faction rank ups -strike playlist was plain. No modifiers. Just pure grind. Currently -there is still only one raid that is relevant. You said year one was better with 2 raids? You can do them all now if you want. And Kings Fall gear gets leveled to max without etheric light grinding. How about that. -PoE is still active and drops max -Nightfall still viable for loot. And you actually get a double drop with the bounty. -crucible weekly bounty drops max -elite weekly bounties, drops max -Skelton keys allowing you to get the loot you want. Oh and they drop at max -trials is still around. Drops max -in the spirit of blades of Crota you can go take on taken corrupting the land which brings me to my next point -3 of coins. You can now literally farm for that exotic you're missing. You use to only get them from nightfall, raids, and crucible...sometimes, and at complete random. That was better though right? -remember when factions took so long to upgrade? Now you have rep boosters and can chase the good roll if you want. -you can still rank up Eris & Petra's faction and now they give you loot! We should go back to being able to buy a class item from them huh. Variks can also be upgraded and drop loot along with his PoE stuff. -there are a multitude of Iron lord bounties every week. Shiro's give huge XP. You can grind out 3 artifacts per week. -Archons forge drops pretty high and a lot of the armor that drops there actually looks great IMO -Kings Fall brought raid challenges for even more loot. -Kings Fall brought hidden exotic weapons quests. We should totally go back to RNG from turning in bounties. But then we'd have to go see him to turn them in again. -treasure box's for many different activities. So much more to do in Y1 huh? 1 raid (at a time), grind mats and engrams, vanilla bounties. You might have liked it more for whatever reason but please all with this mentality, stop spreading opinion as fact.

  • Stop spreading opinion as fact? Well that's all you are doing. Spreading your opinion that yr3 is better than yr1, which imo, and a lot of other people's opinions, it isn't true. You can argue all you want that yr3 has more activities and more rewards than yr1. That may or may not be true, but at the end of the day, it doesn't matter for 1 simple reason. Doing raids, nightfall, or any other end game content (skolas) has no purpose in yr3. The only reason anyone raids in yr3 is to get 400 quicker, (or help others on their 1 week journey to max,) than for the most part they dont bother with wotm because it's boring and easy, and the raid weapons are complete trash. In yr1 I raided all the time, even after my long journey to max, because the raids were challenging and fun, and there was still stuff I wanted (took me forever to get fatebringer). Now I don't even touch the raids. In fact, I don't even play this game anymore, besides for pvp. Back in yr1, the raids were an actual challenge. You were BELOW the level of the enemies, even at max, and that made raids harder, combined with the fact that the old raids were just hard, period. Their mechanics were much harder to do than the mechanics of kings fall or wotm at their time of relevance, imo. When you got to a higher light, you could feel it in the raid. I remember going from 29 to 30 in a Crota hard raid, and the difference was massive. Besides that, raids actually felt like raids, because you HAD to use certain weapon types at certain points. Raid weapons were gods in their own raid. The yr3 raid, however, is completely different. I could walk into wotm hard at 370, with a hand cannon, shotgun, and legendary sword, and still survive (funny thing is, I did just that, except i had a sniper. You can now beat raids underleveled with vendor weapons, lmao). Raiding now feels like patrol, and it might as well be, because you can throw on whatever you want, and you wont hold the rest of the team back as long as you don't die. Raids in yr1, if you didn't have a certain light, you were dead. Period. Regardless of skill. And that's how it should be. It's a raid, end game content, the hardest thing in the game, (at least at its time) so it should be hard. On top of that, I loved the consequences you got for dying or otherwise messing up. If someone dies anywhere in a raid, it makes it harder, of course. But I loved that in yr1, there were particular punishments at some parts of the raid. Some examples: dying at the templar in vog made thier bubble surround someone else, dying at Crota triggering the oversoul, taking too long to kill either atheon or crota practically making it impossible, etc. It's not just that, however. The main reason yr1 is better than yr3 is rewards. The grind for better gear always kept a purpose in your mind, so when you did get something, you knew you earned it, and it was a pure rush. The fact that to get max light, and to get the best legendary weapons, you needed to raid, was perfect imo. Raids were the hardest content in the game, so they gave the best rewards (the way it should be. Yr3, the so-called raid, wotm, was a cake-walk, and the gear was just fodder to get the real stuff 400. The real stuff, however, was just armor with the stats and perks you wanted, also easy to get, though even that wasnt necessary if you kept your gear from yr2. As for weapons, hit up the vendor and get a pali and sidearm and your golden. That or infuse yr2 gear.) Sidenote: old nightfall is better, because the rewards actually mattered, and it was actually hard. The rto mechanic added real tension to it, and starting over didn't bother many people as much as you people are claiming.(regardless if you got something good or not, it had a chance at mattering. Now, no matter what drops from nf, it's garbage.) Biggest Sidenote: yr1 crucible was the best. Weapons were all extremely powerful, primaries and secondaries. That said, it was balanced extremely well. People used their primaries for the most part, because they had quick ttk, and secondaries were more rarely seen, except when there was the perfect situation. Shotgun rushers didn't exist for the most part, and nobody would try to snipe in areas where primaries were really what they should be using, because they knew there was a good chance doing something that stupid would leave them dead in the water if someone jumped through the door or around the corner with a thorn or tlw or auto. On the topic of weapons, all weapon types were plausible in yr1 (except scouts maybe, excluding a few like mida), and exotics were truly exotic, due to their rarity and power. In yr3, it's just waiting for the next "meta", because apparently the best way to balance weapon usage is to give every weapon type thier "time to shine", nerfing everything into oblivion, and making exotics exactly what their called, exotic, because you never see them, bar a few that are only used because they play to the current, no special ammo meta. Why do you not see them? Because their steaming piles of shìt that practically any legendary can beat out. (Click firing the last word is the way it's supposed to be used? I nearly called 911 when I heard that dev say that, because he must have had a mental breakdown. It's perk in literally fan fire, or full auto. It's perks give it better stability when hip-firing. What part of that says ads and click fire? You would be more successful click firing an actual hand cannon with actual range and no monsterous kick. I won't even get into them taking away tlw's exotic perk.) To sum up my comments, yr3 is a weak, baby version of yr1, where everything is easier, has less, to no, purpose, and is less fun, and crucible sucks. Anyways, that's my view on things, as a veteran player, who has played since yr1, and did lots of crucible and raids in that time.

  • I'm out skiing so I'll get back to you later. But again all opinion. Factual y3 has more to do like it or not.

  • More to do, but none of it has a purpose or a reason for anyone to do it.

  • A lot of the bias toward year 1 is because it was new and no one knew where the game is going. It felt different because it was NEW! Be honest with yourself how many times have you ran the Archon Priest strike? We are lucky we stayed entertained this long. It must of been all that addiction research. The game is dead because it's lived its' lifespan. Overall for what I spent on content for 3 years and 111 days of play time I say I got my money's worth. I would also hope that the bungie development team did research D1 as the beta for D2. I think it will result in a better game.

  • I really hope so. But honestly people will complain endlessly at the changes. Even though it'll be better overall (hopefully) they'll only see what use to be and remember things like you put in your post.
