I look at my experience with Destiny like this: 1. Great experience (never played an online multiplayer shooter before even though i beat all the CODs but only played campaign mode solo and I'm 38 years old) 2. Getting adjusted to many different personalities was a challenge on its own and i had to woo saaa many times and tell myself "it's just a game Huseyin, this 15 year old wouldnt dare talk to u like that in real life Huseyin, just take it easy Huseyin" but after the 1st year, i got better at the game and my social skills with talking to people i can't physically see got better. 3. Started to feel like a job instead of a fun video game. 4. Started effecting my physical appearance. Before Destiny i was all muscle and worked out often, but playing Destiny everyday made me gain weight. 5. Problems at home. Shows i would normally watch with my GF together, i would tell her to watch on her own cuz "i HAD to do a raid" or something of those sorts. 6. I have an addictive personality so it was hard for me not to turn the PS4 on and play Destiny. 7. Finally quit 3 months ago or something like that and haven't looked back. So the conclusion is this: If you don't have an addictive personality and can play Destiny casually and still make time to hang out with family and exercise and work and take care of other household responsibilities, then i applaud you and you should continue doing what you're doing. But if you're like most players I've met and can't stay away from the game when there's so much content to clear and guns to get (with the right perks), armor also, then this game and games like this in general aren't healthy for you. Since quitting i got back into working out, looking good, feeling good, the whole nine. It's kind of pointless for me to even post this cuz even though i left destiny, i like to check the forums to see how things are going with the community and from what I've been reading for months now, MANY Destiny players have left the game or have just become casual players. Not a life coach but it doesn't take one to realize that video gaming gor 8 to 10 hours a day isnt healthy for you. If you're doing it to get paid like streamers, then cool i guess. That could be your 8 hour job and then you take care of other responsibilities when you're not playing. But if you play one game for 8 hours a day and years later still feel like you haven't accomplished anything, something is wrong.

  • Kudos for getting back into shape and mending relationships. No sarcasm. Good job. When I first moved in with my wife, she was my fiance then, I had to move 6 hours north and thus had to quit my job. After the move, I'd hop on the computer for maybe an hour to job hunt. The rest of the day, I'd be on Destiny. It was seriously irritating my wife. Eventually, I found a good job, that sounded really promising, and the phone interview, I felt, went well. Back to Destiny. A week went by and I heard back. Apparently the phone interview didn't go so well. I put Destiny down, and got serious about the job hunt. That afternoon, I sent out about 20 resumes. Two days later I had two places asking for phone interviews. One job I knew nothing about, but was right down the street, and the other was similar to a previous job I had that I wanted nothing to do with. But work was work. Smashed both phone interviews. Job B, the one I didn't care for, wanted me to start later that week. Job A, wanted me to come in for an in person interview. Started Job B. Job A wanted me to pee in a cup. Offer from Job A, walked out of Job B. Back to Destiny. I get maybe 2 hours a day with Destiny now, as when I get home from work I hang out with my family. My wife loves reading, so when she goes to read, I hop on the game. My wife has told me that pretty soon if I hadn't found a job, she was going to kick me out and leave me (we were still engaged at the time so it would have been much easier than if we had tied the knot). I too nearly took the path of letting the game rule my life. So, kudos to you for not letting it take you away from those you love and your health. (The story is not to compete with yours, but to establish a common bond).

  • Great story, i would say that many people more than you expect has this issue with Destiny and they dont or cant separate from the game and forget that Destiny is that... just a game. How many games people pick ans play for a couple of hours and dont touch it again, Destiny is a pretty god-damn deal even if you have been playing since the beggining and buying each DLC day 1, Destiny is a 2.5+ years old game and people still play it, tbh we just need to take a chill pill and remember that destiny is a game, not a job or something like that.

  • Our stories and many other people's stories are one of the same just in different examples. I can go on for days about my experiences in Destiny because as I said in my number one reason Destiny was a great experience. I feel like the forums may not be the right place to write all the experiences and it was tough to try to narrow it down two simple words. Congratulations on your marriage and may God bless you and your wife. I wish I could be like you and just play for a couple hours a day but even now it's tough for me to do since I work full time. A couple of friends are really trying to get me back to at least do the vog and crota but I will see what's up. If you're on psn, add HuSeYiN_NYC, MAYBE I'll do an old raid or two n u seem like a cool dude.

  • Thank you. I thank God daily for her. I'm on X-Box currently, but after we get a house, I'll be getting a PS4. I'm going to write down your PSN ID and add you when I get one. BBQ Express is already taken on the PSN, so I'll have to think of a new name. I'll send you a message when it happens. I agree, Destiny is a great experience. It's allowed me to form friendships with folk I'd never have met in the real world, and even keep in contact with a friend who moved across the country (we play in the Crucible at least once a week now). You seem like a cool dude as well. Not to be super creepy, but I'm actually in WNY. My wife took me to NYC for the first time last year. We plan on going again being that we loved it. Honestly, I'd like to go back and experience walking around not in pain (because of the trip I found out that I had AVN and had to go through a full right hip replacement surgery). But I remember Shake Shack being the bees knees.
