*Crossbow, hearing of these phenomena, decides to investigates, and takes a large ship to the location, looking around for anything odd*

[i]the seas in this area extremely rough and choppy. But as he travels through them there's a unmistakably feeling that he being watched by something. But what would live in water this cold?. As bitter as the water you would have to be pretty tough to survive out here. [/i]

*Cross looks around, not seeing much. So he leans up against the side of the boat, looking into the water to try and see anything*

[i]when he does he sees a shadow of something huge swim under the boat. Something was hunting the ship. Then on the opposite a small shriek of a woman's voice but it broken English as the water instantly churns to life as whatever is the water seems to have grabbed something. But in the process almost capsized the boat. [/i]

*Cross, on instinct, instantly grabs his crossbow and jumps in the water, since he has no nerves or lungs he is not restricted by the cold water as a normal person is. His lack of meat smell makes it hard to find him and he fires multiple rounds at the large thing*

[i]the creature stretches its some of it tentacles towards the direction shots came from. It could not sense him but wrapped up tightly in one of its tentacles was a mermaid who was struggling to get free.[/i]

*Cross opens a portal before the tentacle reaches him, freezing the tentacle in place. He then swims over to the mermaid and starts cutting at the tentacle with an arrow*

[i]the tentacle that's wrapped around reacts by squeezing the poor mermaid even tighter than before causing the mermaid to cry out in pain. Its wrapped tightly around her lower body and she was still struggling to get away from it but is way to strong. Several tentacles comes towards him as he tries to free her. Then unmistakable popping crunch of bone is heard while it squeezes her and she screams in pain. The creatures dark blood starts seeping into the water as he cuts into its tentacle thats slowly crushing her.[/i]

*He reacts by firing an arrow into it's eye, then, with one slash, severs the tentacle with his bayonet. He grabs the mermaid and opens a portal, teleporting him and her about two miles away*

[i]the creature shrieks in pain as its eye gets it retreats for the moments under the water. The however mermaid was in bad shape as she clearly was in pain as she wimpered as he held her. The mermaid was covered in very angry looking suckers marks from the creatures attack. She speaks very quietly in broken English as best that she can. [/i] "T-thank..you... but..body..hurts.. tail..broken..."she says

*Crossbow nods as he puts his finger to his mouth, as if to say to keep quiet as a shadowy portal opens in front of him. He grabs her carefully and swims her through it, landing them both on an island. He gently lays her down and starts hacking down a branch with a machete on his side* We should be safe for now. Right now I'm making you a splint for your tail. if you can tell me where you came from and if you are still able to sort of swim without your tail I can bring you back home.

[i]the mermaid started to cry and shook her head. She had nothing to go back too.[/i] "No..there's..n-n-nothing..left..all.. dead..it..killed..them.."she says [i]she seemed to be pretty broken up about the whole thing as she wiped tears. She had suffered a great deal. [/i] "I..too..painful..to..go..back..."she says

*Cross looks back at her a moment* Well I'm sorry to hear that

"..i'll..be..fine..in..time"she says [i]she wipes more tears from her eyes.[/i]

*He continues making the splint for her* You know, if I bring you to the Dojo I can help you heal faster.

"Does...it..have..water..nearby..can.. only..last..couple..days..without..it.. "she says [i]she watches him make the splint for her tail as she sat there.[/i]

Yes, it has a nice lake, and there are some more mer people there too that can help you adjust

"Oh...okay..then..it...sounds..nice" says the mermaid

*He sits down next to her, getting ready to put it on her, lifting her tail slightly* If I may ask, how were you able to survive in that water in the first place? Given the Latitude there it must be pretty cold

"I...can survive there...it..not..bother me"she says

*Cross nods as he works with putting the splint on her* Right. does this feel too tight on you?

"No its not too tight"she says [i]she watches him put the splint on her tail. She holds completely still when he does.[/i]

Hmm. Good. *He takes a moment to adjust it, then backs up* How does that feel?

"It feels fine "she says
