Kings fall: Love it or hate it?

I just played kings fall for the first time, absolutely loved it. It was super challenging especially sisters. And it's gear is also incredibly Badass looking. So why does a large majority of the community dislike it so much?

  • Kings Fall was an awesome Raid. Perhaps a little heavy on mechanics in some instances the raid felt more like a choreographed dance instead of a battle to slay a God or for survival. I absolutely love raiding, it's the one thing I can almost always guarantee to enjoy doing, however that being said even in a stacked team of veteran players and with no wipes and essentially a perfect run it is still the longest raid. I think the fastest run I've done on Kings fall was roughly an hour flat. This leads me to the other side of the coin, many people don't like raids in general because they can take a good amount of time to complete. Combine that with the difficulty and precise nature of the mechanics some people just can't do it and get frustrated. Also the Elitest scumbags when the raid was relevant don't help the situation, especially for new Raiders it's discouraging for them when they ask for an explanation because they haven't done it before and get met with hostility either by being kicked or some tool bad mouthing them. Also there are plenty of people out there who clearly have never beaten the raid before and perhaps watched a you tube video on the fights and stuff so they can claim to know what they are doing but it's obvious when that's the case because they die alot or cause wipes because they messed up. Which then leads to the experienced players becoming very hostile and merciless. Which as far as I'm concerned is warranted. Don't lie about your experience level because anyone with true experience can see your actual skill level by how you play and do certain things. Anyway sorry for the bit of a tangent, but yes Kings Fall is awesome, not the best but it's great.

  • i think that the Oryx boss fight was the best boss fight in the game because it wasn't "how much damage can you do before the boss enrages" but instead "How well can you complete the mechanics of the fight" He was also the most threatening looking boss in the game. The problem with the whole raid is just how long it would take to beat it on hard mode. Most parts were near impossible for an average team to beat with 5 or less people so unless you had a 6 man team of self-res warlocks, 1 person dying would cause a wipe and sometimes people would just leave making you have to waste more time finding another person on LFG.

  • Lfg was cancer. Nearly everyone sucked (coming from a KF elitist btw)

        Compared to the other raids this one was a decent challenge for a while. Other raids are too easy. Golgoroth is my favourite encounter

        • LOVE. I just dislike people who can't execute the mechanics. If I could play with 5 more of myself I would still do it 3 times per week.

            • VoG and Crota had excellent weapon drops, so they were worth playing. I ran Kings Fall once on normal to get ToM and that was it. 3 manned Crota hard mode a few days ago just for the fun of it. Crux dropped for my friend that didn't have one yet as well.

              • LOVE IT! Great mechanics and the introduction of challenge mode was great. Yes Kings Fall had its moments with glitchy ogres and shade issues, but those were few and far between. I rank the armor 3rd overall for best looking Raid gear. Titans looked Amazing, Warlocks and Hunters not so much. Weapons I would rank it 2nd. VoG by far had the best weapons with this at a very close second. Cocoon was a great perk.

                • I liked it, but it seemed out of reach (skill wise) for a lot of the community to grasp. At that point I was blown away by how many lacked the basic jumping skills needed.

                  • I think that the reason people dislike it is because of LFG groups. In the other raids, if someone unreliable died, you can at least attempt to continue. In King's Fall, that struggle just isn't worth it.

                    • Raid was not fun. Too reliant on mechanics instead of having fun you are focused on being in a certain spot for certain time and repeat. Vault fun crota fun wrath fun. Taken king just not fun. Except the jumping with the bumpers. That is fun to watch your team get shot across screen.

                    • its a great raid indeed! the boss battles are cool and the jumping puzzles are hilarious! the loot is good too, but people are STILL too hung up on elemental primaries, and so they'll sheepishly declare the KF guns poop, despite cocoon being an amazing perk! and functionally, the raid is great because it has less "hero" roles, which means less "open" slots for carrying. see, in VoG, you could have two to four people carrying everybody else through. CE is solo-able so a single person could carry 5 through. but in KF, you have NO leeway at totems (everybody cycles through eveyr role), warpriest might have about 3 easy roles. golgoroth has about 4. but after that it quickly drops to about 2 easy roles at sisters, and barely ONE "easy" role on Oryx (both of which are the "floor" positions. but on oryx its still an important one because you have the responsiility of Ogres). in my opinion, KF>VoG.

                      • It's pretty awesome at first, it's just that once you're in that "grind every week on 3 characters" new raid time frame Kings Fall can become tedious.

                      • In my experience most of it is fun until you reach oryx and somebody will mess it up and cause a wipe, then somebody else, then again, and fast forward to two hours later when you have become enraged, hate everyone on your fireteam, and do not want to do this again for a very very long time.

                          I liked it a lot, probably my favorite. Feels like a proper raid. The other ones have good elements, but I think KF is the best beginning to end. Yes, it is the hardest and the least forgiving. But that's what a raid should be. We don't need dumbed down raids like they did to the NFs.
