Scars Remain...
Somewhere in the dojo, thirty minutes after Kari was....killed.
Mari was hiding behind some crates and a wall, terrified, wrapped in a blanket. She hadn't cried out of fear someone would find her and kill her. That's all anyone ever did to her kind..her family..Regardless where she would go, someone would always seek to kill her and make her a hunting trophy. She had learned this the hard way when she watched her mom get shot right in front of her, her father soon to follow. Kari had taken care of their family since then, up until her little brother and sister were killed in the invasion, along with her grandmother. Kari and Mari had come to the Dojo seeking shelter, and instead Kari was dead, at the hands of some foul being. So she sat there, hiding, shaking, cold, afraid.

English

Awww... You look so pretty! *Sapphire chimes in an uncharacteristically cheerful way.*
-
Mari giggles happily, smiling.
-
*Sapphire motions for Mari to follow her as she sits down on the couch.*
-
Mari sits next to her, leaning on her.
-
So... I was wondering... Why don't you talk very often? Is it that you don't really know how to speak too well? Is it that you don't like to? *She asks, holding out her thumb for the first idea and her pointer finger for the second.*
-
Mari holds up her thumb.

Edited by Skatch142: 1/1/2017 6:44:26 AMHm... I've never heard about a deaf person teaching someone how to speak English... I guess it'll be a first then.
-
She shrugs. There's a first time for everything.
-
I'll start teaching you tomorrow... For now, is there anything else you need?
-
A man--merely a dark silhouette in the night, passed by the crates, but pauses when he hears the crying and whimpering, even though it was faint. He looks over, but doesn't see Mari immediately. "Hello? Is someone there?" He calls out to her, unsure of where the source of the crying is.
-
She tries her. best to quiet herself, sniffling a few times. She was terrified, alone, stricken with grief. She had even thrown up earlier, in a bush of course.
-
Somehow, the man still manages to hear the sniffling, as if his hearing was somehow amplified. This time, he's able to locate the source of the sniffling, and he looks directly at the quivering Mari, huddled in the blanket. He raises his hands in a gesture of friendliness, and slowly begins to walk towards her. "Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you. My name's Michael, and I'm here to help."
-
She backs away, obviously terrified. The last person who promised they wouldnt hurt her was the one who killed her brother.
-
He stops again, recognizing her fear. Instead of taking another step forwards, he folds his crimson jacket beneath him, and sits on the ground a few feet away from her. "I just want to know what happened. Maybe I can help you... So, what's your name?"
-
Well this sucks. She cant speak english. Or any language, but she can understand. She doesn't say anything, but looks as if she wished she could. All the while she was still terrified and fearful.
-
I know that she can't speak, but he doesn't. Don't worry--I'll try to make this as little boring for you as I can.
Unsure of whether or not she could understand him, he decided to change tact. "If you can understand me, then just nod your head."
-
She nodded, still sniffling.
-
"Alright, good. Well, can you speak then?"
-
She shook her head no.
-
"Shit... Hmm, lemme this for a sec. Uh, are you hurt?"
-
She shakes her head no, sniffling again, her eyes watering.
