The Cold Between Stars: "The noblest fights are always fought in vain." - Cyrano de Bergerac ((This part of the post is backstory. Feel free to ignore it))
Centuries ago, the entity known as Legion rose from the ashes of an Imperial Battlegroup, and set out on a wrathful crusade upon the stars, preparing for the future war it was designed for. It slaughtered the greatest soldiers in the Galaxy indiscriminately, seeking their collective knowledge and exotic gear. However, its presence was greatly eclipsed by the threat of the looming Sol Collective, and it remained a phantom, told in hushed whispers by drunk spacers and conspiracists alike. Everyone had different ideas about it: it was an Imperial superweapon, built to reclaim their stars planet by planet; it was a demon from another dimension, released into our galaxy through a slipspace malfunction; it was a warrior of a long lost civilization, seeking its place on the new Galactic food chain. Eventually, as the attacks began to crescendo, these theories were put aside as a single understanding arose: Legion needed to be stopped. A band of mercenaries arose, funded by some of the largest corporations in the Galaxy, tasked with killing the metal soldier. They were clad in some of the most durable gear ever constructed, and they were given stimulants that could increase their combat performance a thousandfold, at the cost of extreme physical and mental stimulus. They were known as Ragers, and together, they finally caught the attention of Legion. Their fight lasted for days, with neither party able to overcome the other, until finally, the Ragers trapped Legion in slipspace... but only at great cost. Of the hundred that had set out to defeat him, nine remained, the others slaughtered or burned out from the intense chemical backlash their bodies suffered at the hands of the Rager drug.
The Last Rager? Tatakai "Kid, leave me alone. I'm trying to cure cancer here." Eddie Tobias stood at the doorframe of Drake's room, where the Captain sat on the bed, intensely focused. His eyes were tightly shut, and every so often an invective would slip out of his mouth. Tobias, being the naive teenager that he was, asked the annoyed Drake another question. "So, uh, how'd you end up getting cancer anyways?" Drake sighed, and his shoulders tensed. The only reason that he had been obligated to handle the teenager was for a favor that he owed his mentor, Ulysses Sato, who saw something in the boy that he failed to see. "Here's some good advice kid: don't try to fix an Alcubierre drive without some protection on. Hell, just don't be unprotected in general. That's why Sato gave you that bullshit armor, right?" Tobias was wearing an incredibly thin exoskeleton, dubbed the SHRIKE, which was an incredible piece of military hardware. Drake knew what its true purpose was, but the kid was better off ignorant of its history. "So scram. I left some credits for you on the counter. Go off into town, get a bite to eat, go get lucky, I don't care. Just be back here by this time tomorrow." With a casual flick of his hand, Drake telekinetically closes the door in Tobias' face. Unabashed, the teenager grabs the credits, placed his helmet on, and walks towards the Dojo Village.
Open for interactions. He's a new character, so he doesn't know anyone.
