A small figure was leaning against the wall of a building as he saw the man walking by. He was about 5'7 himself, a height far from impressive but he did not seem to care. He wore a thick motorcycle jacket with a ragged scarf wrapped around his angular helmet, with three cylinders of some kind of metal hanging from his neck via a cord. Deciding that this newcomer looked promising enough in his all white armour, the figure got up from his position and began to follow the man. Such an act would normally be considered suspicious by anyone... Because it was. But in all honesty, the stranger was deliberately following him as a test.

He noticed him immediately, but acted as if he didn't notice. Traversing the crowd and admiring the architecture. He seemed to ponder more than anything. Until finally, he decided to sit on a bench. That is when he decided to see what the man following him would do.

  • He walked. And walked. And walked. Strange how the man was just wandering, but who was Al to judge - he was technically stalking a man just because he was bored. For good measure he quickened his pace and ended up a few feet behind the man, always trailing him but not engaging him.

  • He stands from the bench, and approaches the man. "Can I help you with something?" His voice was deep and metallic, and surprisingly, he didn't seem to be armed. From what Al could tell, at least.

  • "You know, I read in a psychology book once that the fear of possibility can sometimes overcome rational fear: being afraid of what's actually in front of you. Most of these folk are pretty jumpy, so I'm glad to see you're not." His voice was young, perhaps only early twenties? Maybe even younger. He spoke in a friendly tone as if he already knew the man. Slumping his shoulders, he realized he was speaking to a complete stranger. "Sorry, force of habit. Name's Aloysious, who are you?"

  • He seemed surprised by the man's actions, but openly replied to him. "My name's Rhys. Nice to meet you Al- is it okay if I call you that?"

  • "Sure thing," he said. "Sorry again. It's just that there's not really much to do here. You come around, everyone's pretty edgy and omnipotent it's almost like you're not even talking to people any more. Even more boring to fight against to - you expect the same cliche stuff, you feel?" Ah, my mistake. You're a newcomer here, aren't you? Do you know what this place is?"

  • "I get what you're saying... but no, I have no clue what this place is. I just arrived here a few hours ago. I'm technically not even supposed to be here."

  • "This here?" he says as he gestured around him. "This is the Dojo. A crossroads of sorts for training, fighting and the like. A glorified arena in my opinion, but hey it's fun. I came here looking for... A friend, you could say. But there's a lot to do. Almost anyone's up for a fight. And you look just about ready as well in all that gear."

  • "I could use some practice. Just don't know where and when to do it. Or who to do it with." He says looking around them.

  • "Normally you'd have a Sensei come and test you. Let me see if I can find -" He stops mid-sentence, as if cut off by someone else speaking. He nods his head in agreement to a voice that Rhys can't hear and speaks to it as well. "Could it be? You keep some tight records with that voice in your head. Oh shut it, boss. Yeah I'll do it." He looks back up at Rhys and smiles beneath his helmet. "Well good friend old pal 'o mine, how about we have a spar? Somewhere a little less populated, of course," he says as he nocks his head towards a nearby forest.

  • "Hm. Why not? We can spar. Though, if you don't mind me asking, who were you just speaking to?" He looks down at one of the datapads on his wrist.

  • "Oh, no one. Just an wanderer and an Old Bird. You'll see soon," he says nonchalantly. ~~~ The two arrive at the forest clearing, with Al subtly looking at each tree from beneath his helmet. "So, you get into any fights with that armour of yours before or is it just for show?"

"I've had my experiences in battle. It would be upsetting if this armor was just for show." He slides his finger across the datapad.

  • "Oh yeah, that would be a bummer. No offence to anyone but a fight too weak is just as boring as a fight too powerful. You ready?" Aloysious crosses his arms awaiting Rhys.

  • "I'm ready." Rhys says as he takes two cylinders off of his waist, blades extending from their peaks.

  • "Good," he says, just standing there. "Uhhh... Nice blades you got there. Retractables are pretty good for CQC and infiltration, try not to block a full-on attack from anything too heavy. Might screw up your internals, and those are bitches to clean up. You gonna have at me or...?" He continued to stand there, talking non-stop. His arms remained folded with his fingers tapping restlessly against his own arms in an almost rhythmic pattern.

"I've worked out the kinks with these. They'll be fine." He says confidently. "I guess I'll strike first, though I don't usually like to." He takes both of his blades and slides them together in an 'X' formation - orange lightning begins to flow around them. No, not just the swords - but his armor too. He slams one foot on the ground, sliding it forward, releasing a wave of electricity at Al.

  • "Orange lightning? That's interesting." With two simultaneous finger movements, Rhys is suddenly brought down to the ground by... Something wrapping around his legs. At the same time a tree is seemingly cut into two from the base and falls between Al and Rhys, stopping the spread of lightning due to the insulation of the wood. Of course the tree's bark is burnt and blackened after the entire ordeal. Around Rhys' legs are thousands, seemingly millions of dull ivory-white wires attached to his feet. They uncoiled, almost fading out of existence as they weaved themselves out into air. Or that's what it looked like at least. "Only fair to give you a taste of my own abilities. Monofilament SMART wire, an invention of my own making. With that lightning of yours I can't really make any traps out of them otherwise I'd be absolutely boned, so this will have to make due. Though its rather hard to see monomolecular wires when they're not superheated." For a moment Al toggles his superheat feature on his wires, creating dozens of thin white outlines dancing all around him before he shuts it off and they all disappear.

  • "Interesting design. Very different from what I've seen. I like it." Wings form from the back of his armor, lightning covering the vibranium "feathers". His thrusters ignite, lunging him into the air, his wings stabilizing him in order to stay in the air. He tightly grips his swords, awaiting for more wires.

  • "Eyes on the prize, Rhys!" The wires glow white once more, revealing them to be wrapped around a few trees surrounding Rhys. They slice through the bases of the wood, sending several wooden giants down upon Rhys. Lucien always taught Al to gauge the enemy before engaging personally, and so he would follow his late father's friend's advice.

  • As the trees fall, Rhys sends out a large dome of lightning around himself, destroying the trees - turning them into mere splinters. The lightning dome continues to move on throughout the trees, destroying a few around them, clearing out a space to fight.

  • "Well, there goes all my cover." Al extends his hands outwards and lifts one slightly up, creating a mesh-like tsunami of superheated white lifting from the wreckage of the tree splinters, burning through the wooden shrapnel. He sends the wave of wires crashing down atop Rhys as his other hand reaches into his jacket.

  • Rhys taps the pommel on both of his swords, turning them into bladed chains. He then falls to the ground, allowing heat to quickly build up on his armor. He releases it, hoping to rid of some of the wires. Then, as another safety precaution, he boosts forward with his thrusters, slashing horizontally at the wires. He then whips the superheated chains around, slicing at Al's chest.

  • The wires attacking Rhys were dispersed and knocked back, their superheated lines fading a bit. A curved Shotel blade appeared in his hand as he was slashed by one chain, holding the other bladed chain with his other hand which was coated in a thick black gauntlet made up of millions of dark monofilament. With his curved Shotel he hooked the back of Rhys' knee and pulled forward, knocking him to the ground as he kicked him in the chest to send him back. The Shotel remained hooked to the back of his knee as its pommel was anchored to a thick cord that ran its way to Al's hip, where a spool of the entire cord was kept. Behind Rhys a wall of ivory-white formed. It was not glowing, but it seemed solid enough to damage Rhys if he impacted into it.

  • Rhys's shielding took most of the blow to the knee, only allowing a small amount of the Shotel to penetrate his armor - not doing severe damage to his knee. Rhys thrusts backwards away from the wall, towards Al. But before reaching him, he swings the other chain around, wrapping it around Al's chest - then attaching the hilt to his waist. Then, he ignites fire and lightning at the same time around his body and weaponry - causing enough heat for Al to feel beyond the grip of his hand. Then, to bring himself in, he pulls on the chain; activating his power Gauntlets, he sends multiple punches to the side of Al's head, hoping to loosen the grip on his chains in order for him to kick away.
