JJ simply replied with a snarl. He was beyond reach by this point. Only blind anger and bloodlust took his place.
Rage started to flicker and fade. If it went away, it'd lose its influence over JJ, allowing him to regain control. But by then, it may be too late as Zane could feel Despair getting deeper, and deeper. It was close to cutting his spinal cord, now. If that was damaged, all was lost.

Before Zane has to fire the shot, Rage gives out and fade. Despair stops pushing, regressing to a lack of energy. JJ passed out due to exhaustion and his injuries. It was over. Zane was the victor.

He lets out a sigh of relief, falling over next to JJ. A pool of blood dripping from where his arm use to be. He passes out himself, his overcoat and silver hair fading as he returns to normal.
