Fury "There is just enough Christ in me To make me feel almost guilty" -Van Halen, "Humans Being" Washington, D.C. Alternate Earth, One Year Ago Dean Garrison stood looking out the windows of his office, ten stories up, overlooking parts of the city that had been rebuilt in the wake of Venom Incorporated's invasion and occupation. He remembered when he first arrived after all of it, seeing the smoke and fire from the air, the corpses, the burnt-out hulks of armored vehicles and civilian automobiles. In the time that had passed, the city had cleaned up and rebuilt itself effectively, now back onto its normal schedule and bustling yet again with busy people and tourists. Turning away from his observation of the D.C. night lights, Garrison walked to the cabinet he kept in the office, full of mementos of his service. A photograph of himself and some friends in combat gear with some special forces guys from Delta in California, another of them in Dubai. Above those, a picture of himself and his family, his wife and daughter standing beside him happily. On the lower shelf, a bottle of Maker's Mark and four shot glasses, a treat for special occasions. As he looked back up to the picture of his family, he saw something that made the hair on his neck stand up. A reflection appeared, that of a mask, half-black, half white, the eyes glowing an eerie blue. A cold and metallic voice pierced the air, and Garrison nearly jumped out of his skin. "Where's Caine?" it asked. Garrison was silent. "Where's Caine?" The voice said again, more harshly. "You.... you were killed...." Garrison sputtered. "And yet here I am. Where's Caine?" "I... I don't know..." Garrison gasped. The masked and armored figure grabbed him by the back of the head and smashed his face into the cabinet, shattering glass, wood, and breaking Garrison's nose. Pulling the bloodied and dazed man back, he spoke again. "Don't lie to me, Garrison. You know where he is." "I... swear.... to Christ.... I have no idea where he is... he doesn't just give out his whereabouts to us..." "Bullshit." The masked man said, a clear edge to his voice. He slammed Garrison's head into the wall again, harder, leaving shards of broken glass in the man's face. "I swear... please... I have a family..." The man threw Garrison to the ground, and disengaged his mask's locking mechanism, taking it off, and tossing it to the ground. Garrison rolled over onto his back, and the color drained from his face as the man grabbed him by the throat. "So did I." Jackson Wolfe stared the man down, his blue eyes cold, expression hard, a near-spitting image of his father, except for his blonde hair. Dragging the man up, he slammed his head into the wall again, and again, and again, and again, dropping the corpse after he had completely caved in the side of Garrison's head, blood splattered across his armor and the wall. Reaching for Garrison's pocket, he withdrew a cellphone, and scrolled through the contacts, finding the one he was looking for. Picking up his father's mask, he waited as the phone rang, and a voice answered. "Dean why the hell are you calling me at 12:30 in the God damned morning?" "Wash you hands as you wish, Pilate, your fate's been sealed." Wolfe crushed the phone afterwards in his hand, dropping it to the ground as he slid on his mask, disappearing into the darkened hallways.
Closed. Open for comments.
