There are two sides to this, part of me is excited to use it in the moment but there is still this thorn in my side knowing in less than 12 months all the gear and other things collected won't mean a thing. the fact that destiny as you know it and worked towards already has a approximate death time.
the only thing I can think of is, if bungie says there is a reason it is not possible I hope I see no evidence of fallen or reskinned fallen, no old strikes or raids, if this destiny 2 next year and we can't carry over I want no signs of the past gameplay ether

You guys are so -blam!-ing odd You act as if every game allows your progress to move on to the next installment except for Destiny. Rarely if ever do games do that.

World of Warcraft? Anyway.. It's supposed to be a ten year game not renew every 3 years. If it wants us to not get so hung up on our current things then how about stop with the micro transactions, stop the pay walls and stop with nerfs

They NEVER said it'll be a single game over 10years. It's just the franchise. Just like Halo or Diablo, the next installment is a different game with a different story, different classes, items, etc.

12 months is a long time to use all that gear though. As much as I'd like to keep all this gear I have now, if I'm still using Thorn and Ophodian Aspect in Destiny 2, that probably means the designers have failed to make interesting gear D2. Just my opinion.

The leak in September suggested that destiny 1 content might be introduced as free content in D2's lifecycle. Also fallen not appearing in D2 would be like the zombies not appearing in the Last of Us Part II; they are too engrained in the story.
