A man approached the Dojo gates, a rifle resting against his shoulder, being held by its trigger. It was lever-action, a sight not seen too often in the days of semi-automatic and fully automatic rifles. It's barrel was a gleaming steel, twenty-five inches of unstained metal. It's stock was a deep red mahogany, complimenting the light grey of the barrel nicely, as well as the receiver of the same color. The man flips the gun once, catching it by the barrel, then he flips it back to having his finger on the trigger. In the process, the trigger is pulled, but there isn't a flash, or even a shot. The gun was unloaded.
The man himself definitely had some less than great choices in dressing. He wore a dark grey cloak, ditto the color for the long-sleeved shirt under the cloak. He wore black pants and combat boots, the black really clashing with the grey, it looked more like the clothes he wore he chose in the darkness, like he'd though they were the same color. His face had a neutral expression on it, his dark brown eyes gazing over at the gates of the Dojo. His short, jet black hair was smoothed forwards. He strolled right up to the gate, and knocked on the gates.

Bah..."[/u] [i]A masculine, deep voice sounded after the newcomer had knocked upon the gates leading into the place of combat, before the sound of a pair of footsteps could be heard, as if someone was moving around from within the walls of the Dojo itself...[/i] [i]Mere seconds later, a loud creaking could be heard as the wooden and metal gates that lead into the Dojo slowly opened, clearing the path for the newcomer to enter freely. Except for one, of course, who found it necessary to step in the newcomer's path.[/i] [u]"...Another techie. By the king of Eleum Loyce, do none of you so-called "fighters" know how to swing a blade? Disgraceful."[/u] [i]Standing in Gio's way was, to say the least - an imposing figure. Standing at a almost giant height of six foot eleven, his entire body clad in steel and Ivory armor, the metal burnt and aged as if it was older than its very wearer. A pelt that belonged to a slain animal hung upon the shoulders of the armor, draping over his back and slightly waving within the breeze of the wind. His helmet was shaped into the grotesque yet calm face of a previous king, calm yet soulless, a crown sitting upon the head of the armor.[/i] [i]Within the man's armored right hand was a massive steel and stone greatsword, the blade being thick enough to be considered a blunt weapon. And even then, there was an aura of magic surrounding the weapon - something was clearly different about it, and it's wielder.[/i] [u]"...You seek access, then?"[/u]

"Yeah. And I wouldn't call myself a techie. Lever-action stuff is about as primitive a gun you can get before getting into muzzle-loaders. And I'm not that big of a gun hipster." [b]The man stops dead in his tracks, not trying to press his way around the other man. He wasn't trying to pick a fight.[/b]

"Good to be here." The man's voice was deep, a little gravelly. His voice really fit his look, gruff, yet not completely serious. He waited, almost like he was waiting for the other man to get to him.

[b]The man did indeed approach, extending a hand [/b] "I am Hawkwood. Who might you be, good sir?"

"Call me Gio." Gio shook the other man's hand, a firm handshake, but it wasn't like he was crushing his hand.

"It is a pleasure, and an honor. What has brought you to the Dojo, Sir Gio?

"Heard it was a good place to train. Want to get better with my rifle."

"Ah yes of course. Much like the others. The dojo is an excellent place to train, with some of the finest warriors and the most advanced technologies."

"Hm... Advanced tech? I don't really do advanced much, my rifle should probably tell you that much, but I might make an effort to check some of that stuff out." Now that he'd said more than a sentence or two, he could here a small twang of a Bostonian accent on his voice.

"There are many places to visit. Our very own weapon Smith. Our blacksmith or the emporium! Quite the array."

"I'll have to check out whichever one of them can make my rifle even better. Just bought the scope the other day, I'm warming up to modifying this old girl. Been through a lot, we have."

"It would certainly seem that way. I prefer my weapon." [b]He patted his greatsword [/b] "This technology is to difficult."

"A sword, eh? Low tech isn't always a bad thing. This gun's about as low tech as you can go without dropping down to muzzle-loaders."

"A muzzle loader is when you have to put the projectile down the barrel of the gun. This gun I have I load bullets into the side."

"Oh I see. I once had an ally with this loader."

"Really? Muzzle-loaders are terrible guns. Did he have a musket or a blunderbuss?"

"He had one of those... Hand guns I believe."

"A flintlock? Those guns are utterly terrible. Horrible range, horrible accuracy. They don't even have that much stopping power."

"Yes a flintlock. However, at the time Twas the most effective weapon there was"

"The most effective weapon? He could only fire it once before throwing it away. Flintlocks only fire one bullet before they're ruined."

"Yes I am aware. It opened a new branch of weapons we previously did not have."

"Actually, the flintlock's design was never improved on. They went off a blunderbuss design originally to get the guns we have today. Well, the handguns and shotguns."
