The two that joined him obviously have a sense of entitlement. And they thought they can force someone to do what they wanted by acting like spoiled brats. I'm sure they get away with it often enough, which is why they kept it up for an hour. Then they thought they could pretend to play along and still try to frustrate OP into quitting. Really it is a form of bullying.
Not everyone has a hour to stand their ground like OP did. And I applaud him for doing so. At least one time out of lord knows how many, those two didn't get away with doing that.
If you want to play a match made activity in some other way than the normal objective, then take a full personal team. Don't be an entitled brat and try to bully someone else into leaving so you can have your way.
