How can one love the light and live in darkness?
Put a shirt on, you aren't impressing anyone.
Desmond scowled at the Ka'kari's words in his head, mentally flipping the sentient magical artifact off. He was indeed shirtless, but he was in his own room within the Dojo. Everything in there, was quite literally in black and white. Non-descript and no show of any personality in the room. It was like a hotel room.. He lay on his bed, eyes staring at the blank ceiling with his hands laced behind his head. The Ka'kari wasn't in it's ring form, but took the shape of a chain link silver bracelet on Desmond's left wrist. A peculiar accessory, but Desmond was nothing but.
When do you plan on talking to her? She is literally next door. You're thoughts are mine, and you can stop pretending you aren't lonely.
"Shut up. She doesn't need visitors, and I'm perfectly fine right here."
Liar.
Desmond scowled again and reached into his jeans pocket, pulling out a customary cigarette and lighter, putting it between his lips and lighting it. He wasn't sure if you could smoke in here, but he didn't really care. His armor was on a stand against the wall, and his arsenal of guns and knives were on a long table that was already there in the room. His thoughts wandered as they always did, his fingers brushing the black rose tattoo on his collarbone. He wanted more..the feeling of needle on flesh, making a permanent mark was addicting in it's own way.
Desmond, go talk to her. Before I burst from angst.
"She barely talks as it is, she doesn't need me trying to provoke a conversation out of her. That doesn't work for anyone."
The Ka'kari sighed within his mind but said no more. Desmond was as stubborn as Durzo.

Chesh.
• Chloe didn't often make noise, and when she did... It was quiet like a mouse. If anything she had the personality of a mouse as well... But it suited her. Her gentle nature was something few had, and it made her interesting. Each passing day she was less and less royalty and more and more... Normal. Like a normal young woman. But she hadn't been spending too much time with Desmond, or anyone else really. In fact, she had been keeping to herself, not even coming out at nights. It would have been worrying, but she wasn't a real big socialite despite her friendliness. Every now and then, there would be a light step, the creak of water pipes expanding, and other such... Her room was outfitted very differently than most. It was dark in there, very dark, outfitted with furniture that had strange lines of varying colors running from each corner. But the one thing Chloe had put in her room, was a pool of water. A large, yet shallow circular area near the back of her room in which she would lay. It wasn't her bed, nor her bathtub. Something entirely different, it's water glowed a dazzling blue, almost as if not actual water, but something much more fresh and pure... It's where she had been spending her time, meditating in the warm embrace of the water. She had almost become a stranger... It would have been concerning, but it was Chloe after all... She certainly didn't open up as it was... Besides that, the two lived in an area where the other residents seemed to spend their time outside. Some were anthropomorphic animals, others were not... But most didn't stay in their apartments so it was strange when the heavy steps of feet pattered down the hallway... Moreso, accompanied with three or four hushed voices approaching the rooms.

 • Desmond tensed and was off the bed and on his feet, over to the table in one fluid motion. Heavy steps meant men, and hushed voices implied they had something to hide. A secretive group of men somewhere in a place like this didn't bode well. He grabbed the M45 pistol off the table, gripping its ivory handle, Checking for the Bowie knife on his thigh. That, was a weapon that was always on him. He didn't bother with a shirt, he didn't have time for something so minor. Besides, the Ka'kari would work as armor enough. Desmond walked towards the door of his room, oddly silent on the floor as he gripped the knob, pistol loaded and ready to fire.

 • A hush fell over the voices and the steps stopped right outside Chloe's room, simply quiet. Then, a quiet knock... Something that was sharp and quick, but also deliberately quiet as to not disturb those around. "Think she's in there...?" "Silence..." The hushed voices made no mention to Desmond, and they probably didn't know he was there... But it was hard to tell their motives and what they were... If anything, they could be even friendly. But the second, sharper voice was more commanding and brisk, like a military officer... Not a friendly type.

 • Desmond sneered and cracked the door ever so slightly, the hinges making no noise because he made sure to oil them every night. Not paranoid..just ridiculously prepared. He called the Ka'kari to his skin, the oily black, liquid substance rising through his skin and covering him like a second skin, ultimately turning him invisible. He slipped out into the hallway, walking silently to Chloe's room and whoever else was there, with pistol in hand.

 • There were five men... Or... Beings... Four wore long cloaks that hid their entire bodies, red lines glowing along the rims and sleeves. The final, tallest one, wore a more military style jacket with a hood. It too was black with red lines, but strange black particles drifted off of the material slowly. He had very pale skin with sharp red eyes and pointed nose, his lips cracked with age, and his face wrinkled with years of scowling. Yet he had a sort of youth to him. Beyond that, strange war paint around his eyes and parts of his chin, making him out to be a sort of on-hands warrior. "It's too quiet..." One of the hooded figures whispered, turning to look down the hall, his face and features covered except for long hands with grey flesh extending past his sleeves. "Then check the hall if you are so inclined." The tall one spoke once more, tapping against Chloe's door once more. No doubt, they were of the same species.

 • Desmond didn't necessarily have any probable cause to hurt any of them. He didn't kill on suspicion, and that's all he was right now. But it didn't make him put the gun away or become visible. For now, he stayed out of their as to not bump into any of them accidentally, and watched the one at the door. If things went awry, at least two were dying from bullets to the back of the head before they even knew what happened.

 • "Hmm..." The robed man eventually began to pace down the corridor, his metal shoes glistening ever so slightly under the bottom of his attire. A golden crest sat around his neck and hung loosely, something depicting a tower or tall building... He passed Desmond, unaware to his presence, stalking down the hall until he rounded a corner and disappeared from sight. Meanwhile, the rest and become restless, and now the tall one seemed... Unappeased. "Enough of this..." He quickly held out his hand, the door suddenly breaking apart into thousands of red squares before disappearing altogether. He quickly stepped in, the other three simply watching... "It's empty..." "Where else could she be? The Sense brought us here..." "It's been wrong before..."

 • Desmond didn't think they were here with good intentions. The symbol around the guy's neck though..it looked familiar in a way. The robed sort of looked like Chloe's species, but it wasn't a good omen they were busting down doors. Chances are they were there to take her back home..whether she liked it or not. Desmond didn't say anything, except creeping into the room past the other three and to the side of the robed man. Blocked by the view of the doorway from the three in the hall, but directly to the left of the robed man. He felt the barrel of the gun pressed to his temple abruptly, Desmond suddenly becoming visible. Without a shirt and a large gun in his hand, Bowie knife strapped to his thigh, he was quite the sight. Especially because his entire chest was coated in a slick, glossy black substance. "Now why are we busting down doors? Didn't someone teach you how to knock?" Desmond said low and menacing, the gun against the man's temple only accentuating his point.

 • The man let out a sigh, the tall one stepping back out from the room, the door reforming behind him, his eyes sweeping over Desmond judgementally. "Why are you pointing a firearm at a stranger's head? If anything... That's the more pressing matter." The man growled, his hand extending forward as Desmond's gun suddenly became... More light. In truth, the tall being had just removed Desmond's bullets, the metal casings suddenly floating around his hand casually. "We knocked..." "What does it even matter to you? We aren't disturbing anyone..."

 • "No, but it sounds like to me you're looking for someone who doesn't want to be found." The black substance stretched down Desmond's arms, covering those from shoulders to fingertips as well.. "And blasting their door down isn't exactly a polite entry." Desmond growls, lowering the pistol. He couldn't shoot it..but he could still smack the shit out of him if need be.

 • "I didn't blast it..." The man remarked, making a sweeping motion with his hand, causing square shaped particles to drift around as if to mimic the ability he had been using. "Now, it'd be best to move out of our way... We are busy people and you are in the way." The tall man folded his arms behind his back, his red stare digging into Desmond in a challenging manner. The robed men said nothing, the fifth one eventually returning, looking between Desmond and his comrades. "I miss something...?"

 • "Only you're man here being a bit rude. Trespassing and all that. He gave the robed man a droll stare. "I could truly care less about how busy you are. Now, what do you want with Chloephina?" Desmond said, taking a step towards the man in a challenge, even though he had a few Inches on Desmond. But backing down wasn't something he did. Ever.

 • "Ahhh... I see it now. Lover? Guard? Silent observer? Oh how the tables turn." "Ignore this guy... He's no threat." The tall man nodded, his head raising up to look forward slowly moving forward to bypass Desmond. Whatever intimidation he was trying to use wouldn't work on these men... "So... I missed something... Every time." "No... This cretin is not a something."

 • "This cretin, is about to kill you." Desmond said quietly, stepping sideways and blocking the man's path with a hard shoulder. Even with a knife and the Ka'kari, he had faith he could take these five. He'd done better. "What do you want, with Chloephina?" He asked once again, eyes forward and still in the man's way.

 • "She has abandoned her home in a time of need, if you must know... Her parents are important, and miss her very much." The man looked down at Desmond, his eyes narrowing as he lifted a hand, the floor beneath Desmond suddenly shaking until it disappeared, sending him down into the pipeline. "Do try and keep quiet..." The man continued the others following behind slowly as he moved. But the more the robed men moved, the less they seemed like warriors. Perhaps religious leaders... They seemed to walk like monks, just something in their steps. Peaceful, if not mindless idiots.

 • Desmond scoffed at the attempt. He was Ka'karifer, and he was Talented. That was only because of the Ka'kari but..that was besides the point. He reached out a hand as he fell, a ghostly apparition of a hand extending out from his and latching onto the floor edge. With a pull and a burst of telekinesis, he swung himself up and landed on his feet, Bowie knife in his left hand and M45 in his right. "Ok. We can play like that." A drop of black substance leapt from his hand, molding itself into the shape of a .45 caliber bullet that deposited itself into his pistol. Raising, aiming, and firing in one fluid motion, he shot directly at the man in the back of their little congregation. The Ka'kari had a lot of applications..and making weapons was one.

 • The man's hand swung out, like a jab of lightning on a crisp summer day, catching the bullet before crushing it. Whatever he was, he was not simply strong... He was powerful. "I don't not fight men that have enough cowardice to hide behind the barrel of a gun." The robed monks quickly backed up in fear, moreso of their large leader than Desmond... But they didn't want to be a part of this... "Now... Begone before you make me rethink not killing you immediately."

 • "No problem. A blade works fine." Desmond said, lifting the Bowie knife and launching himself impossibly fast at the man. He swung the large knife in an arc at the man's face, half expecting him to disintegrate his blade..but he was counting on that.

 • That's where Desmond was wrong. This man... Rather... This warrior, merely brought a hand up to block it, the pale white flesh of the fingerless glove connecting with the blade like metal on metal. "A trained fighter can make his very being harder than iron... A trained seeker can make his mind split the air around him... But a trained zealot, they can do all things through the Sense... Dearest Cretin... Lay down your weapons... Last chance..." The man seemed to almost be amused by Desmond, the war paint around his eyes wrinkling as his face contorted into a forced smile.

 • "Pass." Desmond said, as the black substance on his arms swarmed downwards onto the Monk's hand where it had grabbed the knife, the substance burning extremely, like acid had been thrown onto the man's hands. Acid made from the sun.. it was hot.

 • The man made no motion of pain, despite the searing anguish in his hand... He had trained for this... 23 years of his life put into this work... It had aged him quickly... He was young, but looked like an old army officer... "Interesting... You are willing to kill a man who hasn't wronged anyone but the blockade in his way... I guess if I don't stop you here... I die." There was a sort of wisdom to his words, like he knew this was do or die... But he was so calm... So complacent... Then, he moved his hand, letting go slowly as the skin melted and seared from the acid. But he seemed... Unphased. Quickly, he swept his hand across the air, a wall of red lines suddenly passing in front of him. Priorities first... The Commitments came fist. He stepped back, quickly motioning to the four men, slowly following behind them as he bought time for them to escape. "Come now... To place where we can't harm others... I will not stoop to your level." The man continued to back up down the hall, still facing Desmond as the floor slowly reformed. Looked like his ability to change the environment only lasted so long, and Desmond's sidearm slowly regained its weight. Whoever he was... He wasn't a villain... He cared about life... If anything, he resembled Chloe... Gentle and quiet demeanor... The difference was his will to fight.

 • "I'm willing to fight you because your meddling in someone's life where you have no right to." Desmond said, feeling the weight of the bullets in his pistol once again. Ok, so his matter manipulation had a time limit. "My willingness to kill you, depends on you."

 • "I'm sure we both know only one walks away..." He responded, suddenly slipping out of the nearest exit doorway and into the empty courts... The robed monks had all congregated nearby to watch, their Inquisitor something if a spectacle in battle. "A warm day..." He remarked, the sun beating down as his skin began to burn and smoke... But he paid no mind. The Elune's weakness... Sunlight... Their sensitive skin something of a fault... But he... He was different. It burned slowly, not like a fire, more like a slow boil. "Come at me..."

 • Desmond moved then, with impossible speed. It most definitely had something to do with the black, glossy substance coating his body. He lunged towards the monk, slashing the knife in a criss cross pattern at the man's face. This time though, Desmond had coated its blade with the Ka'kari..

 • The Inquisitor followed with the speed, albeit more calmly, his hand moving once gain to meet the blade, this time, red lines shoot across his skin so that an explosion rang out once the knife connected, and Desmond was pushed back. "How naive... To think I am unprepared because I am different. You may as well cower behind your gun once more." The Inquisitor's arm lit up with the red pattern, a long red blade like formation forming around the bottom portion like a razor tonfa. "Once more..." He was not going on the offensive, rather, keeping his distance and learning about Desmond.
