Trump wants to privatize our infrastructure

http://www.slate.com/blogs/moneybox/2016/11/04/donald_trump_s_plan_to_privatize_america_s_roads_and_bridges.html
Under Trump's plan—at least as it's written (more on that in a minute)—the federal government would offer tax credits to private investors interested in funding large infrastructure projects, who would put down some of their own money up front, then borrow the rest on the private bond markets. They would eventually earn their profits on the back end from usage fees, such as highway and bridge tolls (if they built a highway or bridge) or higher water rates (if they fixed up some water mains). So instead of paying for their new roads at tax time, Americans would pay for them during their daily commute. And of course, all these private developers would earn a nice return at the end of the day.
Just what my commute needs. Tolls, subject to price increases on a whim, designed to pay for the road, and make some asshole a profit, rather than a portion of my taxes just paying for it at cost. Remember, unless you walk, you don't get to opt out of this. You could have to pay someone just to leave your house. Trump has one thing in mind and one thing only. Help his bottom line. Enjoy being scammed.

 • You make a good point and I think we can all agree that roads and infrastructure is incredibly important. I for one am open to more privatized infrastructures for two main reasons.... #1 Any privatized industry works within a free market economy which promotes competition and leads to better products IE: (roads, bridges, and so on), where as federal control operations tend be low quality, stagnant and consistently under perform.....hence the current state of infrastructure. #2 Taxes meant for infrastructure currently are routinely being siphoned to other projects and special interest groups through crony-capitalism. At least when I pay a toll, I have a better idea of where the money is going.
