Unable to join target player - Local area network consistent problems

My husband and I play Destiny very regularly together, and, obviously, we are in the same house using the same internet connection. We CONSTANTLY receive the "unable to join target player" error message, and from looking around here we are not the only ones. It has nothing to do with our internet connection as my husband works in IT and can verify that everything is working as it should, not to mention we play several other multiplayer games together that have ZERO issues (Overwatch, PvZ, Battlefront, Titanfall, Halo - literally NONE of these have problems with us playing in the same lobby/fireteam). Destiny is the only game to give us this error, and it happens literally EVERY time we boot up the game. The only way we get around it is waiting it out, and trying over and over again until we want to rip our hair out. This is ridiculous and I want Bungie to fix this. This error never popped up for us until Rise of Iron. I understand nothing anyone in the forums can say will help as it is clearly Bungie's error, I'm just hoping that if enough people make it known that this is still an issue that they will get more eyes on it and correct it.

  • Me and my Dad have also had this issue just since rise of iron has come out. We have had one way that is about a 50% chance of working. If you have both xbox go into network settings and then go offline. Then go back into your home menu and sign out of your accounts. After that both xboxs need to go back into network settings and press go online at the same time. Then you will go back to xbox home and launch the destiny game, you should still be signed out. Then press A on the destiny title screen and it will bring up a sign in page. Both of you need to sign into the same account, one that you are using. Here is where it gets tricky make sure that the account that you are using to sign into that the xbox that is using that account presses sign in about 2 seconds after the xbox not using that account. And then it will kick the other xboxs account out and you simply sign into the account you want to be and the other xbox should be signed in already go to orbit and you should join up. Good Luck! And give me some feedback on how this works.
