"...Be afraid." 11:30 PM, Dojoville The clattering of running boots could be heard upon the stone road and sidewalk of one of the streets of Dojoville as a roguish figure sprinted throughout the city, their figure hidden away by the thick darkness that blanketed the land that night. The figure stood at about six foot one, a suit of armor engulfing his thin body as he ran for his very life; his very existence. The man came into the light of a streetlight, where his appearance was then immediately revealed. The man bore a suit of obsidian black armor, with skeletal parts decorating the chest plate disturbingly. A thick black fabric hood hod away his head, while a literal skull served as a mask for his young face. Resting within his left hand was a thick black sword, bloodied and jagged as if it had endured intense combat. One that wore armor like this..and had weaponry such as the sword..would be remarked as a Darkwraith, an ancient survivor of a forgotten land. This one was different. He did not wear this armor as a representation of what happened long ago, but as a servant to the darkness itself. The Abyss.. The Darkwraith's younger, slightly masculine breathing emitted from the skull mask itself, as an aura of darkness surrounded him slightly. Not like shadows surrounding his body, just the feeling of despair, of being alone, of facing death. That was the kind of aura that left his shoulders. After sprinting for quite a while, the warrior of darkness stopped for a bit, his right hand resting upon his armored knee as he bent his back, heavy breathing being heard from his location as if he was exhausted. He was running from something..but what, you may ask.. That "something" then revealed themselves to the world. The right foot or inch tall feminine figure suddenly sprinted out from the darkness, and into the lights that surrounded her and the Darkwraith. Her body was clad in a suit of armor, consisting of tattered and bloodied leather with steel kneecaps and a steel gauntlet on her left hand. A dark red cape protruded from her back, trailing behind her and riding on the wind as she sprinted towards her enemy. Her face was hidden away by a leather mask, while a steel pointed helm protruded from her head. Her right pupil was a dark, intimidating maroon, but her left..a blood red cybernetic eye, lighting up the darkness surrounding her and targeting the Darkwraith, who raised his thick sword and swung downwards at the woman. In an instant, the left hand of the woman reached for her waist, and found itself grasping onto a hooked steel dagger. She immediately grasped it and raised it up, batting away the swore to the Darkwraith's surprise. In his immediate terror, the man fell over onto his back, his head banging across the ground as he did so. The woman stood over him, slamming her armored foot down upon his chest as she drew another weapon, one hidden behind her tattered red cape: a seven foot long thick greatsword, with two horns protruding from where the handle that was wrapped with thin leather met the steel blade of the weapon. Before the Darkwraith could raise his weapon once more, the woman swung downwards, the blade coming crashing down upon his arm. The man let out a bloodcurdling scream as his left arm was suddenly severed from his body, blood gushing out of his wound as his arm simply laid on the ground next to him. The woman sheathed the massive sword in her right hand, proceeding to do the same with her jagged dagger. She leaned down and grabbed the man by his armored throat, her maroon and cybernetic eye staring into the skeletal mask that hid away his face, before raising her left hand and slamming her knuckles into his head. The mask shattered into thin pieces, revealing a pale, blonde male in his mid-twenties, with an angular face, high cheekbones and thin lips. He slammed to the ground again, groaning in pain as he suddenly began speaking. "P-Please!! H-Have mercy, Watcher of the Abyss! I bring no harm to thee!" The woman clearly didn't care for his begging. As he sat on the ground once more, she slammed her foot down once again on his chest, the sickening snapping of bones being heard as another scream escaped his throat. The woman leaned down, raising her right hand and sliding down her mask slowly, try steadily, to where only the man could see. Finally-she spoke two words, before her bloodlust took over. "...Be afraid." In an instant, her teeth suddenly barred - sharpened, canine-like steel teeth, to be exact - and her head lunged towards the throat of the man like a wolf delivering the killing blow, the cybernetic jaws doing their work as she tore through muscle and flesh, shredding his vocal cords almost immediately. Out of her madness, she suddenly grasped the head belonging to the now dead man with only her left, and ripped it off of his body almost immediately. Now alone within the darkness, the woman's animalistic instinct took over as she began gnawing away at the very skull of the now dead Darkwraith, blood splattering across her face as she did so. ((Rather grotesque intro for Adeline, eh? Mind you, she killed the poor guy because he was a Darkwraith. Be careful, darkness users.))

  • As the Watcher was disfiguring the corpse of the dark wrath, the metallic thump of something large and made of metal could be heard. It had the pacing of footsteps, and it sounded like someone was running. As the sound grew closer, the noise began to sound like someone was rapidly pounding on a drum, but the drum was the earth. And suddenly, the noise began to subside as it drew absurdly close, and it petered out into slow, cautious footsteps. Then, a hulking figure rounded the corner. Obviously, it was in a massive suit of armor, no human could have that kind of girth. While in the shadow, the only thing that was visible was the figure's golden visor, and the odd shape on its right arm. The shape had an angry hum emanating from it, as if it was containing quite a bit of energy. The odd shape then raised up to the chest of Watcher, and the built-up energy was visible inside of what was obviously a barrel. The figure then spoke in a computerized voice, "Who are you, and why did you kill that man. And for the love of god, what're you doing to his head!?

The Watcher suddenly looked up, as she had detecting the noise that had resonated from the barrel of the weapon. Her face was, to say the least - a sickening combination of flesh and machinery. The right side was skin and blood. Tan, smooth skin, high cheekbones and a dark, maroon eye, the woman had a face of girl in her mid-twenties, beautiful yet intelligent and kind. But the other side of her face was pure carbon and steel, with a metallic jaw, plating to replace her cheeks, and a gleaming red cybernetic eye. Tufts of brunette hair was covering her realistic eye, while nothing blocked the robotic one's view. And that's when she saw the barrel. The realistic maroon eye widened with surprise as the head of the Darkraith dropped from her hand and onto the ground. The sounds of gears and cybernetic joints and servos could be heard as she then suddenly leaped to a tight alleyway nearby, scampering into it as if she feared the one with the weapon. In truth, the Watcher didn't want to die, she couldn't. She didn't trust any with firearms to not shoot her.

The figure proceeds into the room, quickly examining the body of the Darkwraith. He then looks down the alley way, weapon at the ready, as his golden visor turns bright red. "I've got thermals you know. I can still see you. Now, if you give me a half-way decent reason as to why you killed him, I'll be honorable and use my sword. I'll stay in the suit, though. If you give me a good reason, I'll spare you entirely. Also, just so you know, that red eye of yours is terrible at keeping you hidden."

Adeline suddenly turned her head around to face Keira, revealing the bloodstained face that was once behind her mask. The right side of her face was flesh and bone, with smooth, tan skin and a deep maroon eye showing..calmness? Bravery? Honor? Odd, considering her action. But the right side was purely cybernetic, with a prosthetic carbon and steel jaw, cheeks, and gleaming red eye all present. The woman only dropped the head, rising up from the ground with haste. "You. Does thou affiliate thyselves with the Abyss, or anything related to it?" An odd question to ask someone, to say the least. It would probably be best to say no.

  • The sound of heavy-set footsteps can be heard as a large man approaches from across the street, the slapping sound of leather shoes smacking along the ground moving slowly towards her. Even though the footsteps came from an un-armored source, the weight and sound of them betrayed his massive figure. As the figure grows near, a single word escapes his mouth, it's tone filled with sadness and remorse, but intertwined with what sounded to be... Rejoice? "Adeline..." The aged but gentle voice of the giant Balthazar fades into the night as the aged warrior's gaze falls upon the mangled corpse of his savior. A clatter can be heard as what sounds to be a bag of general commodities newly purchased fall to the ground from his hand as the elder giant questions what he sees before him, a sight so startling he cannot even comprehend whether or not the very reality he resides in has fallen into disarray. "You... You should be dead. I killed you to free you from the Abyss, and you forfeited your soul to preserve my life for the coming ages. What madness has befallen me to make such a ghostly apparition appear in front of an old fool as myself?!"

The head of Adeline swiftly turned to face Balthazar, revealing a bloodstained face covered in gore and the thick red liquid, which dropped slowly from her mouth and chin onto the ground. Her face was..different. So much different than before.. The right side of her face was one that Balthazar would have remembered, at least slightly: beautiful and young, smooth tan skin and high, shallow cheekbones, with a small nose and angular face. A dark maroon eye found itself staring at the old warrior - and a look of recognition glinted in her iris. But the left side.. Pure machinery, from the looks of it. While one side of her head was flesh and blood, the other was cold, bloodstained steel and carbon, which replaced her jaw up to her eye. The gleaming red cyborg eye scanned the giant, his outfit..everything upon him. Boyishly short brown hair covered her real eye, while the cybernetic one only stared upon the man with a strange intent. With the sound of cybernetic fingers letting loose and the sound of something hitting the ground, the mangled head of the Darkwraith met stone as Adeline let go of it, her body rising up like a puppet being pulled by invisible strings. Her face was contorted into a look of utmost confusion: who was this man? What was he even talking about? How did he know her?! "W-Who art thou? How doeseth thee recognize me?!" Something seemed so...so eerily familiar about Balthazar. The voice..the voice filled with bravery and kindness..the giant stature, the peacefulness, the sense of honor that radiated around him..Adeline knew him; she didn't know where, when, or how she met him, but..she remembered him, as if once she was once alongside him..but where? Why? "...E-Explain yourself!!"

  • As the half-machine monstrosity turns to face the voice, the large statured twelve-foot body of Balthazar looms overhead her. Without his armor covering up most of the elder warrior's body, every scar and burn is visible as long as his body is uncovered. Burns and long gashes taken out from battles long ago adorn the every visible part of the man, the war-torn surface obviously tracing into the parts of his body covered by a large leather tunic and pants. His bald head shines in the streetlight's glow, the long white braided beard that flows down from his face covering most of the scars on his neck and lower jaw. Across his face is a look of such utter sadness that the normally warm embers that surround him have dulled in light, his face pale and drained of all color. "We were once enemies, and then allies. You gave up your soul to repair mine when I was prepared to lose it in a battle with the soul of cinder. You sacrificed yourself, and I thought..." Tears have started to stream down the old mans face as he falls to his knees, emotions taking over his normally cheerful or rough demeanor.

The Abyss Watcher only stared in absolute disbelief at the giant's face that hung above her, gears and creaks being heard as her feet took a couple of steps back. Cybernetic legs too, it seemed. Her breathing had magnified, her only true eye broadcasting a look of...fear. Adeline seemed to have been afraid. She didn't know this man. Not at all, although she had a feeling..a thought, to be more precise, that she had encountered him before, that she had fought alongside him somewhere, that she made a choice, somewhere along the line, that would change the outcome of something... After about three steps, Adeline stopped in place and only looked up at Balthazar: she had known him. Endured hardships alongside him, felt pain with him. She had seen that face, long ago, within the ruins of a place and considered home. The name came to her mind as she spoke.. "...Y-You were...You were at Farron...F-Farron Keep?"

  • From a distance in the cool night was a feminine figure wearing the above pictured armor, a black cape hanging on her left shoulder. A singular katana was sheathed on her back, red and black color scheme, about three feet in length. At her side was a broadsword hilt, the grip of a HardLight blade. Her bright visor glowing in the night as the figure watched Adeline eat the Darkwraith, the facial expression behind the mask one of shock and horror. She quickly pulled out her broadsword hilt, getting ready to activate it and make an attempt on this monster's life.

As the Watcher kept ripping into the skull of the dead man, she heard the quiet footsteps of the approaching woman, and slowly turned her head to face the one that had come here. The right side of her face was one that could be considered attractive - tanned, smooth skin, high but shallow cheekbones, an angular face with a small nose, a calm, beautiful maroon eye, and boyish brown hair. But the right side..purely cybernetic, with metallic plating covering her prosthetic jaws and cheekbone, the bulging cybernetic eye scanning the newcomer. Suddenly, the mangled head of the Darkwraith fell to the bloody ground with a thud, rolling across stone like a ball. The woman slowly rose, standing at her full height of eight foot one. Analyzing the blade within the newcomer's hands, her own hands suddenly found themselves drawing the dagger and the steel greatsword. The Abyss Watcher immediately reached to her back and tore the blade out of it's sheath, slamming it down upon the ground with a thud, while the steel blade sunk into the stone from the pure force. She simply held the jagged dagger to her side, but not before she raised her left hand to raise her mask and hide away her face once more. She then began speaking, with a voice filled with calmness and bravery. The savagery seemed to have been gone..held back by the Watcher as if she did not seek to kill once more. "...You there. One that draws thee weapon, as if thou seek to attack.. Art thou affiliated with the great darkness known as the Abyss? Or art thee a warrior, who seeks to avenge the monstrosity slain afore me? I wish of no violence between us. I warn thee.. Sheath thy weapon..." Adeline then tore her blade from the earth, raising it up to her side. She stared straight towards the woman, her grip on her weapons tightening. "...Or prepare thyself for combat in the best way thou can."

  • "... I just want to know why you're eating people," The woman said truthfully, looking upwards; the other woman was over two feet taller than her. She did not sheathe the hilt of her unactivated HardLight blade just yet, although if Adeline did not want to harm her, then she would assume that her cannibalistic tendencies were for a reason. So her stance became more passive, however her blade was still at the ready.

"A good question, thou have asked. And thus, I just provide a sufficient answer to it. I would usually say I was starving..but that would not suffice, would it? No. It would not, although it was a cause. Animalistic instincts, instincts that bring out a human's...primal nature, to be..exact." It wasn't because of Adeline's instincts that she proceeded to devour the head of one she had just slain; it was something much darker indeed, coupled with her more vicious and cruel programming and objective. The grip on her weapon's loosened only slightly, although...she was still prepared for a fight against this one.

  • "Animalistic instincts? Human primal nature?" The woman thought on this for a moment, eventually placing the hilt of her sword on the belt of her high-tech armor. She didn't trust the cannibal at all, and considering that she had just killed what the woman believed to be an innocent, her trust for Adeline only lessened. Unknown to the woman, red electricity began crackling along her forearms as her caution grew. "I think we all have a little of that," She said, taking a step backwards. "But in no way does that explain why everybody's not a cannibal. Just you."

"Why does thou act if I murder and cannibalize others for my own enjoyment, I wonder? I do not do this for fun. I do this for the survival of this land, for my own survival, and for your benefit. I sacrifice myself as a wall against this darkness; this Abyss, yet I lose control against it. This vile monstrosity..he was less than human..he deserved worse that death, and what I did could he considered merciful." Adeline spoke with a low, venomous tone, her cybernetic eye staring at the body as a boiling hatred began to show itself within her remaining eye. It was as if this...Abyss...this darkness...had done something truly terrible to the Watcher. She herself could not recall it, but whatever happened..she devoted her life to its destruction afterwards.

  • "... okay... whatever you say," The woman murmured, finally relaxing. It was clear that she was a trusting one; if Adeline said that the thing was less than human, then it wasn't her duty to protect it, as the Knight of Kaleon... was it?" "Anyways... what's your name, Miss Cannibal?" The woman asked with a sigh, her expression one of uncertainty behind her mask.

At the questioning of her name, the Abyss Watcher turned to look back towards the woman, both eyes broadcasting a look of interested. The cybernetic eye's light shined upon the woman as the cannibal spoke in a softer, more peaceful tone than either. "...I am Adeline..Abyss Watcher of Farron's Undead Legion.. • Grey hair. It was not shiny, no, but a messy sign of stress and older age. He was somewhat tall, standing at an impressive 6'2". He wore a white lab coat, clean and pristine. His pants were black, mostly covered by the coat, and his shoes were of a similar color. The man beside him was bald, replaced by a large "cat in the hat" top hat. His clothes were normal to say, a white shirt and ran shorts. The scientist spotted the woman knowing at the head, and quickly gestured to his brother. Clarent. The top hat nodded, and he swirled into the air, flashing blue. He cane down as a pair of metal boots, gloves, and forearm/shin guards. They attached themselves to the man, and sparkles with electricity. He stepped closer, his glasses that he wore tossed to the side and grinder under his heel. A smile developing on his face. The madness infected him, causing him to laugh. Hehehehehehe... "Soullessness" they call it. That doesn't exist. Only madness...

The grotesque sounds of the woman's cybernetic jaws ripping into flesh suddenly stopped as she heard "Clarent", her head slowly turning around to face the madman. The woman's face could be considered attractive, to say the least: tan skin, with an angular design, high cheekbones and small nose, alongside boyishly short brown hair. He placed one hand in his pocket, and looked down at the remaining one spark up, little bits of electricity glowing around it. His hair ruffled as his face returned to you. I could ask the same.
