Dojo Courtyard // 1200 // Zachary Chandler Standing in the middle of the courtyard as the clock struck twelve was Zachary Chandler, a dojo newbie. His jet-black hair was combed back neatly, his bright blue eyes scanning the courtyard analytically. His full lips were pursed, slight stubble on his square jaw. He was young, around twenty, decently muscular however built for a hundred yard dash. The man stood at five ten, with a slender build. He wore slim, blue jeans, and a simple, white t-shirt that was neither tight nor loose. Gripped tightly in Zach's right hand was a three foot long, inch and a half wide base, silver straight sword of New Magnesium; a metal as light as aluminum and as strong as titanium, which is indeed a real metal. His slender violinist hands wore a pair of worn, leather gloves, to protect his hands from callousing. Standing a few yards in front of Zach was another man, Ylon. He was out of his usual armor and without his usual greatsword, his artfully messy, scarlet hair matching his red t-shirt. His own eyes were a stunning orange, his cheekbones shallow with an angular face in contrast to Zach's more square one. Ylon stood four inches taller than his opponent at six two, his right hand wearing a steel, painted red gauntlet, which gripped a sword similar to Zach's in size, yet was made of titanium. His shoulders were broad, and the straight sword was rather small for him, as he was so used to his great sword, however he had switched swords for the sake of this duel. Ylon smiled at Zach, who smiled back only halfheartedly. Zach lifted his sword, and Ylon followed suit. All was silent in the courtyard, quiet enough to hear a pin drop. That was when a cold breeze blew through the courtyard, blowing a rock into the wall of the courtyard with a resounding crack. Both Zach and Ylon rushed forward, however Zach was faster; Ylon had only taken three steps before Zach was on top of him, picturing a quick, diagonal slash from top right to bottom left. Zach raised his sword to execute this, but Ylon was much more skilled in swordsmanship, and swiftly lifted his own sword up as Zach began to deliver his slash, his New Magnesium sword clashing with Ylon's titanium one. Ylon redirected Zach's sword to his own bottom left, the tip of Zach's sword striking the dirt. Ylon raised his sword, and brought his sword vertically downwards to Zach's back. Zach pushed himself forwards, his superior speed getting him out of the way of Ylon's heavy attacks. He spun, two feet to Ylon's left, gripping his sword tightly in two hands as he aimed a now horizontal slash towards Ylon's left arm. Ylon gracefully turned ninety degrees and blocked with his blade, a loud clanging of metal on metal resonating through the courtyard, Ylon's grip on his sword and his muscular arms remaining firm and steady. Zach swiftly brought his sword away from Ylon's, spinning the other way to deliver another horizontal slash, which was blocked, again, by Ylon. This time, Zach used the momentum of his previous swing to continue himself in a shoulder charge towards Ylon, ramming into him. Even thought Ylon was much larger, Zach's speed and quick acceleration was enough to make his opponent stumble back, off balance. Using this, Zach's face remained stony as he lifted his sword, pointing his blade towards the off-balance Ylon and with blinding speed, Zach's chin was above Ylon's right shoulder, the tip of his New Magnesium blade just touching Ylon's Adam's Apple. Ylon's eyes widened in shock, and wasn't sure if he hadn't recovered in time or if Zach was just that quick; regardless, he raised his hands, dropped his titanium blade, disbelief clear in his orange eyes—he was so sure that his skill as a swordsman was greater than Zach's. Zach pulled away from Ylon, sheathing his sword, and faking a perfect smile. "Well fought, sir," He said truthfully, his forehead beaded with sweat; he had been dueling for five years now, and was still getting used to the fast-paced, action packed thrill of a swordplay fight. Not looking for a conversation, Zach turned away from Ylon, his fake smile disappearing immediately as Ylon walked away, his head hung low in disappointment. ((Open for interaction or duel.))

 • "Yeah, no," Zach said, already deciding that he didn't like the other man; not that that was a bad thing, rather Zach didn't like a lot of people; in fact, there were barely anybody people he DID like. He didn't lower his sword, following the man out of the crater. "Fine; what are you doing, falling out of the sky, and making massive crater in the courtyard?"

 • Cthulhu started to brush off some of the debris when he got out. "I was trying to learn to fly with my white matter. I'm still not all that good at it." Cthulhu could tell Zach didn't like him, but it didn't bother him.

 • "Learning to fly with your—whatever," Zach muttered, shaking his head. He was a rather stubborn person, and kind of refused to acknowledge the existence of magic, even after seeing it with his own eyes multiple times.

 • "It's very impressive technology if you ask me. Matter controlled by the mind? Trust me, it's awesome." Cthulhu held out his hand. "The name's Cthulhu. What's your name?"

 • Zach looked at his extended hand, and extended his right one, wearing its leather glove. He shook Cthulhu's hand, averting his gaze. "Zachary, or Zach," He said, quickly pulling his hand away.

 • Cthulhu sighs at Zach's disinterest, but smiles. "I feel like we're going to be good friends. I mean, you just give off so much positivity."

 • "I'm told that a lot," Zach muttered, and he knew that he must've seemed quite edgy in Cthulhu's eyes, but he honestly couldn't find it within himself to care; so what if people found him edgy? So what? It didn't matter to him at all. Not a bit.

 • Cthulhu chuckled. "You're a keeper. Wanna spar or something? I'm a little hurt already and I don't have my armor, but my armor is terrible anyway."

 • "Sparring sounds fine by me," Zach murmured, brushing himself off as he brandished his New Magnesium sword, examining Cthulhu over and making guesses at where his weak spots may be. In his opinion, the duel started the moment somebody suggested it, not when they began to clash blades.

 • Cthulhu had been trying to analyze Zach this whole time, but he was too distracted and didn't figure out anything. He kept his cool as he made a six inch thick ring of white matter spin around both of his wrists. "This'll be fun, right? You know what that is? Fun?"

 • "No, I dropped out of school and don't know the definition of "fun"," He said sarcastically, cautiously watching the rings of white matter, wondering if it could be cut.

 • The moment Cthulhu said "attack", Zach suddenly darted forward, taking only four steps to accelerate to max speed, twenty three miles an hour, showing the agility of somebody who had been training vigorously all their life. Zach's right leg was soon just beside Cthulhu's left leg as Zach aimed a horizontal slash with his sword, the blade whistling quickly yet powerfully through the air towards Cthulhu's abdomen.

 • Cthulhu quickly moves one of the rings and deflects the attack just in time for it to only cut his shirt. The white matter on his other hand forms a bar in front of Zach's head for him to run into.

 • White matter quickly got in the way and stopped the blade from puncturing, but Cthulhu went tumbling forward from the force of the attack before standing back up. "Okay, okay. I have to say, you're pretty damn fast."

 • Zach ignored the compliment; he never understood why people spoke in the middle of a duel. Relentlessly, he rushed forward again, lifting his blade as he brought it down vertically, a straight and powerful slash towards Cthulhu's left shoulder.

 • Cthulhu raised both of his arms up and with them the white matter. The sword clashed with the strange material and caused Cthulhu to fall to one knee. During all of this Cthulhu had yet to shut up. "You're not much of a talker are ya?"

 • "No, not really," Zach said as he raised his sword again, slashing in a downwards arc until the tip of the blade was just touching Cthulhu's head in his kneeling position. That was usually where a sword duel would end, however he guessed that the other man had some white matter magic up his sleeve, and prepared accordingly.

 • "Don't be ridiculous." Zach flat-out refused, backing away slightly. If Cthulhu didn't accept his way of finishing duels, then Zach didn't mind finishing the duel the traditional way; until one falls unconscious.

 • "C'mon man, I'll treat you to lunch." Cthulhu gets into a more defensive looking stance and his white matter forms a large block, about the size of a microwave, in front of him. "I'm getting hungry from all of the crap I've already done today."

 • "This is a waste of time," Zach muttered, sheathing his sword at his left side. He sighed, and decided to get back to training, or maybe sparring somebody who wouldn't waste his time. ((Fin... just staying in character...))

 • He watched the battle from afar his arms crossed. His right eye a crimson red seeming to dart around at every move as if analyzing it. While his left a sky blue stood still, closing his eyes he shakes his head. Noticing the mans disappointment he raised an eyebrow moving forward. Before Zach was a 5'10 cat like creature with jet black fur with spots of coco brown on him. A Great sword and two shortsword a on him as he looks into the mans eyes. "Why do you look so down you won..." He said as he scratches the back of his head. How everyday clothing moving on his body. A white t-shirt and gray shorts on him as he looks back his tail flicking.

 • Looking up at the strange creature, Zach jumped back slightly, yelping in surprise. After a moment's analyzation, he calmed down, looking at the cat creature, unsmiling. It was clear that Zach was rather harsh on himself, even if he won. "Messed up a couple times," He said, his voice hoarse and ragged. "Like when he parried me like that, I was made a fool of." Zach sighed, rubbing his temples as he replayed the entire fight in his mind's eye. He wasn't a pessimist, but when it came to these sort of things he liked to halfheartedly acknowledge what he did well but focus on what he did poorly.
