The Water Rose Dojoville The sodden feet lay barefoot against the hard tile of the stone road, the rain soaking the skin thoroughly. She walked with no real goal, headed in no particular direction, exhaustion burdening her like her hunger... But that was no concern now. Her large umbrella covered her from the torrent's onslaught, and the long black veil that hung from the sides hid her from view. And just as it seemed that she would fall from exhaustion, she found slight relief in a bench. It had no cover, but she didn't mind. It was minor solace in a maelstrom. Her chest heaved slightly, her long breaths accompanied by the distant crack of thunder, and a spiderweb of lightning... So far from home. She wasn't sure where she was... All she knew is that she needed to keep going. A refugee... // Time seemed to pass, as she had seemingly drifted off into sleep, and as she awoke she realized that the storm had given way to a clear sky. Stars sparkled above and she let out a sigh of relief. With a click, she twisted her umbrella handle the veil around her raising up and vanishing inside the contraption, the umbrella folding away a moment later. And there sat the newest member of the dojo... A strikingly beautiful woman, of strange origin. She had light blue, almost pale skin like a ghost, dotted with black. And along her legs and arms were glowing lines, turquoise in hue. Then there was her hair... Oh her hair... Sunset red, like the falling leaves in autumn. The hair perfectly accompanied her eyes that shimmered like powerful fires, warm and kind. Her face was delicate and gentle, radiating life and joy. She wore a long black dress with a hood, which her hair was neatly folded into, as was a custom of her exotic species. Lastly, there was her crest, hung right above her forehead... Held in place by a metal rod, which also held her hair in place. Signaling her status in her society... Royalty... The rarest blossom of her kind.
https://i.imgur.com/A099tv7.jpg
But such radiance was diminished by her tired eyes and aching feet. She never wore shoes... So the hard trail had hurt them severely... But the rain had eased away the trial of blood. It was clear she was no fighter, her exposing attire and soft features making it very apparent... But she was no push over. For such a gentle disposition, she held a kind of strength, a raw passion... She was lost, she was tired... And maybe even a little hungry... But she didn't dare move. Yet, despite her exhaustion, she felt sleep elude her. She knew she needed some help. And so she sat, quiet on the bench, her hands folded neatly over her exposed stomach, watching the fireflies dance and parade as they celebrated the new fresh night... And the luminous maze of stars above.
Open! She could use some info for just a talk.
• "Do you want me to carry you?" He questioned, eyes flitting sideways towards her. It was a moment of weakness for him, but he knew she was too exhausted as she was. He'd followed her this far and let her handle herself, but she'd pass out soon from walking, and then he'd have to carry her anyways.

  • "Carry me...? What do you mean...?" She asked, not really understanding the question. He wasn't an animal... And animals carried things... Generally... At least things like her.

"Carry. You. While walking. On my back, or in my arms, Because you aren't in the shape to keep walking. Soon enough I'm going to have to carry you regardless." He said deadpan, not making a big deal about it. It was strictly making things easier for himself, better to carry someone willing than someone unconscious. And with his exo's strength, it'd be no worse than lifting a bag of flour.

  • "I guess... If that would be easier for you." She nodded quietly and obediently, not able to say much more on it. She didn't dare argue with Desmond... Or anyone in general. She had learned that being submissive usually resulted in less pain.

"You don't have to act like I'm going to shoot you if you speak out of turn." He said, pulling a cigarette from some pocket on his armor, lighting it now that the rain and lessened and tolerable, putting it between his lips and lighting it with a small flame that sprouted from his fingertip. Or his armor, rather. "I'm here to make sure you don't get yourself killed, and so people don't get the wrong idea when it comes to you. You saved my life, and I'm not gonna kill you because of it. You run the show here, I'm here to make sure it runs smoothly."

  • "Y'know... I don't mind mutuality." She said quietly, like stating something trivial... But to her, it was easier to imagine a partnership. But she knew her options. Strain herself trying to fix the wounds... Or let Desmond help.

  • "Neither do I. I suppose that works out." He says around the cigarette between his lips, standing up and holding out a hand for her. "Just hop on my back. With my "special clothes," it'll be an easy trip." A hint of a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth at that statement.

  • She seemed confused by what he meant, but complied anyways, taking his gently and standing up with a wince. She hadn't noticed how painful the wounds were until recently. "Ready..." She remarks, her arms wrapping around his shoulders, long lines snaking across his body as her strange abilities seemed to investigate him... Study him... Transferring onto his body in partiality.

  • He hooks his hands around the back of her knees/thighs, weighing not even twenty pounds with his suit. He began to trudge through the grass, glancing down at his chest. "Why does your magic do that?"

  • She seemed surprised by his strength, and his touch, her eyes widening slightly, a small blush snaking up her cheeks. "It means trust... Like... An embrace." The lines didn't exactly cover his whole body, but they formed patterns and shapes, mostly taking the forms of cog like structures or flowers.

  • He was nonchalant about it, his eyes flicking over his torso. One part of him almost laughed at the words she spoke. Anyone with sense wouldn't trust him, especially that close. He could kill her right now if he chose, and it almost confused him why she was so content about it. She knew what he was..well, for the most part. She knew he killed people for money, but she hadn't known the kinds of things that had entailed. "Interesting.." He said quietly.

  • She looked at him quietly, her eyes drifting to his armor. It felt like some kind of weather resistant coat, maybe... And it smelled of the same carbon fibers she was used to at home. Minerals weren't really different here or there. But beyond that, she felt safe with him. She hadn't known him for an extremely long time... But she had known him long enough. Long enough to know that he wasn't all just cold resilience and rough edges. He was more... And she felt comfortable with him. As they went, she leaned her head against his shoulder, the lines retracting, running across her instead.

  • He secured his grip on her legs as she hugged herself to his back, his armor seeming to emanate warmth against her body and leeching the chill from her. What would armor be without internal heating and cooling systems? He reached into one of the pouches along his belt, pulling a small bundle of leaves from it. Leaves from an Ice Akarso, a plant that brought warmth and relief, along with reducing pain. Only found in the coldest parts of where he was from, and addictive if taken in large quantities. Made a nice knockout concoction if mixed with some other herbs he carried. But in that amount, it would just make the ride for her easier. He didn't believe in anything that dulled the senses or messed with ones judgement. For himself, or someone he was giving it to anyway. "Put these under your tongue. They'll dissolve and taste good." An interesting part of the herb was whatever the person found most enjoyable, was what it would taste like to them.

  • She gently grabbed hold of the leaves and did as directed, the taste coming like water sweetened with honey. An old drink served when she had been sick as a child. It reminded her of her parents, but in a good way. It was strange though... The way Desmond seemed to have a tool or item for every situation. The perpetual planner... "Thank you..." She said at last, warmth moving over her body in waves, soaking into her skin and bringing relief.

  • "Mmhm." He said, eyes ahead on the path they were taking. He hadn't gotten far without being prepared all these years, that was for sure. "What did they taste like?" He was oddly curious for some reason. To him.. they tasted like nothing.

  • "Sweetened water... Like the kind my mother used to give me..." She responded, not at all bothered by the question. Usually it was her trying to figure something out... And Desmond inquiring about something was a nice, if not odd change in pace. "What about you...? What's it like for you?"

  • "Nothing." He says with a slight shrug of his shoulders, jostling her arms a bit. "Dried herbs, how they should actually taste." He wasn't sure if it was because he didn't really have a favorite anything, or for some other reason. But he knew that they taste like leaves, as expected.

  • "I see..." She falls quiet once more, her eyes tracing up the steps as dawn slowly approaches. "Desmond... The sun..." She had never really explained it to him, but every time the sun started to come up, she covered herself up and hid away. This time was no different than the others.

  • "Do you just wanna camp out until the sun goes down?" He questioned her, dropping her to her feet gingerly (hehe, get it?) and pulling the cloak over her shoulders and pulling the hood up over her head. There was a copse of trees nearby to the right of the steps on the edge of the forest, it would offer dense shade and he had a small one person tent in the large pack he carried.

  • "That would be nice..." She remarked, looking where he ha spouted out the clearing. She enjoyed his observatory nature, seeing promise where she didn't. "Your keen eyes are nifty."

  • "It pays to be observant." He said, picking her up once again in his arms this time, carrying her the short distance to the copse of trees nearby. Underneath, the leaves and branches overhead made for such a dense canopy no light was getting through. He set her down carefully once again, and opened his pack. Within minutes, he had his small one person tent erected, motioning towards it for Chloe. "Take a nap, meditate, pray, whatever you wanna do. I'll wake you when the sun goes down."

  • She sat down in the tent, a long sigh escaping her lungs, her body worn out. It didn't take long before she slumped back, almost as if dead. There, she slept soundly, her breathing coming out long and low. She seemed strangely peaceful, in any state. But, it helped that she felt comforted by Desmond's ever so precise senses. He was in a way, the perfect defender... She hadn't meet anyone yet that was quite like him.

  • As soon as she went inside the tent and fell asleep, Desmond's cloaking on his armor initiated as he leaned quietly against a nearby tree. Ever present..ever watchful. He had his M45A1 in hand, but he doubted he'd need it. No one had tried anything yet, and if everyone was smart, They wouldn't.

  • "Bang! Your dead!" A voice suddenly cracked the splitting air, quiet... But brutally loud... Like an assault on the mind. Like a thunderstorm... It was distinctly male, but also had a certain... Metallic feel to it.

  • Desmond froze, finger on his pistol trigger. There was no way someone had seen him. He was completely quiet, and hidden from all thermal and other optics. Unless it was magic.. he still didn't move. Just because you thought someone saw you, didn't mean they did.
