Wind howls at the gates as a snowstorm rages throughout the Dojo, white dust piling up against the massive doors as snow pelts all who brave the miserable conditions. The storm had been raging for days on end, getting worse every hour with no sign of an end. There were seldom any guards, all who had come to work that day either snowed in or left outside, slowly falling into the dreamless, endless sleep of death. Many families were holed up together in their homes, fires crackling at all times of day and night to keep them warm and safe from the cold bite of the winter storm. At the gates and under a pass, snow crunched underfoot as a strange man made his way up the mountain towards the Dojo. He was not strange in the creepy sense, but instead in what he carried and his appearance. Covering the man was a multitude of blankets that muffled most sounds of movement, but you could not miss the distinct sound of armor clanking against metal as armor would when one moves inside it. On his back was a massive hump, seemingly created by a weapon of some sort. The strangest thing about this man was not his secrecy nor the massive weapon on his back, but the extremity of his size. His tall figure even hindered by the deep snow was distinguishable from long distances. From what one could guess, he stood a bit over twelve feet tall. The cloth blankets that covered his body could easily cover a small building, let alone a normal sized bed. His face was covered in shadow by a large hood, but a long, white braided beard could be seen trailing down the front of the man's body, snow encasing it in a fluffy coating. As he moves closer to the gate, he looks up with a sigh as a cloud of warm vapor escapes his mouth. Standing in front of the foreboding doorway, he speaks in an aged but powerful voice, thick with what could be called a norse accent. "No welcome for a returnin' old man? I suppose this weather must've scared most of th' sensitive inside, back t' the warmth of a crackling fire. I can't help but hope but one person resides behind this door, or all will be for naught." Raising a large arm, the mysterious figure knocks on the door three times in succession, the sound echoing throughout the storm and the village like the ringing of a ceremonial gong.

Slowly creaking open, a woman bearing a suit of armor stood behind the wooden gates, having to look up at the returning giant, the one that her father had aligned himself with so long ago. The knightess's armor was gleaming with a hardlight shield surrounding it, the gold underneath the shielding covered in frost and snow. The chestplate was decorated with bright red rubies, forming a necklace-like formation of the precious jewels. Her helmet was shaped like the growling head of a lion, the golden teeth bared as if it hungered for action, a bright red plums protruding from the back of the helmet. In the dragonslaying knightess's right hand was a seven foot six inch long gold and steel spear, the tip only slightly flickering with electricity. The knightess began making her way towards the giant of a man, recognizing him from the stories that her very father had told her of... She spoke at last, and although her voice was muffled by the raging blizzard winds and the lion helm, one could still hear her light, young voice speak. "You...You are Balthazar, one of my father's oldest friends...you remember Ornstein, the Captain of the Knights of Gwyn, and...Nora, of the Blue Flame...do you not?"

  • Pulling down his hood in a shower of snow, the towering giant's cloak reveals an aged face, weathered from travel. Scars and wrinkles adorn the bearded face, the tanned and leathery skin stretched and molded from years of traveling. What little hair he had on the top of his head when he resided at the Dojo before is gone, but his beard has seemingly doubled in size to compensate for the loss of the other. Snow white in color, it covers a cheery face covered in wrinkles and marks, the cheeks dimpling at the lips as a wide smile stretches across his face. Dark blue eyes pear out from the wrinkled eye sockets, little embers seemingly dancing throughout as if at an elegant ball. Chuckling, he speaks in a soft but strong voice, aged and worn from years of use. "That armor I'd recognize anywhere- That be the Dragon Slayer armor modeled after an old friend of mine... Ornstein was his name. The same goes for your weapon. If I had been a bit worse off for memory I would have thought you could have been he himself, but alas... I do not remember him being this short, nor a female. Now, I must ask you... Who are, you don such armor and not be of the same platoon as my old friend, hm?" He bends over, his face coming closer to the helmet's mask as snow rains down from his broad frame. The unmistakeable sound of armor folding upon itself can be heard under the cloak, as if he wore a full suit in a storm like this despite his age.

Frost covering the snout of the lion helm, the female Dragonslayer only stood in place, her hands simply hanging at her side. She wasn't intimidated by the giant, and wasn't even surprised by his presence. She knew who he was. "...I am Olivia. Daughter of Captain Ornstein and Blue Flame Nora, dragonslaying knightess of Anor Londo and the Dojo." She performed a courteous bow towards the twelve foot tall man, tipping her armored head towards his figure as she bent her back slowly. After rising up, she stared at his old, wrinkled face, her voice proud and valiant. "Dad told me of you. Balthazar, if I remember. One of his dearest friends?"

  • Starting into a hearty laugh, Balthazar roars a bellow that shakes the very snow from the rooftops throughout the Dojo village. An even bigger smile stretches across his face as he pats her head with a massive hand, seemingly ignorant of the fact she wears full armor. "So Ornstein went and got himself married, did he? And he spawned a smaller Dragon Slayer, to boot! I bet it was with that Nora gal, he always did show such fancy for her... Now, I must be asking... I recall Ornstein never saying he had a father to spoil his children... If I am correct, that means the position of grandfather is open!" A glow in his eyes shows the excitement he feels, his boisterous voice surprising in the least.

"Yeah, my mom's Nora, heh. And I've got a brother, too. He's edgy, named Severin..." Only chucking softly about the fact that the giant had patted her head, the knightess Olivia kept looking up at him, although she wished that she could take off her helm in the cold and properly greet him. She absolutely loved the winter months at times, but she would risk the chance of hyperthermia or even frostbite if she removed the helm on her head. "I guess you can be a...grandpa, heh. I don't mind, truly. As long as you won't get too crazy about the things I do...heh. Ah...don't tell Dad that I drink...please... ...I shouldn't have said that." She chuckled a little awkwardly, as she had just told her "grampy" that she had gotten into alcohol. She wasn't a full-fledge drinker, she just...needed a buzz every now and then, nothing too bad.

  • Bending his knees with a creak, Balthazar groans as he lowers his eye-level to that of Olivia. Reaching into his cloak, he draws a large ornate pipe from a pocket and packs it with some dried leaves, the distinct smell of cured rum emanating off of them. Drawing a small box of matches dwarfed by his massive fingers, he takes one and strikes it on the side of the box. Lighting the match, he taps it very lightly into the rum-smelling leaves creating a small smolder. A draft of smoke wafts up from the tinder smelling heavily of Rum as The old man takes a puff on the pipe. Exhaling smoke, he speaks while looking Olivia in the eyes. "We all have have our habits, good or bad. Your grandpa doesn't mind a good puff or a drink every now and then, and he doesn't see why you shouldn't either." Standing up, he looks around at the ever increasing snowfall pelting down upon the white landscape. "We should probably head inside or the cold will start getting to yeh. You're in full armor for gods sake, you need to warm up! And don't say your cold, grandpa can tell a cold soul apart from the rest."

  • Scratching his head a bit, the man folds his hood down to reveal an aged face, old and wrinkled from travels long before. A white beard conceals much of his face, but his eyes and mouth are creases with dimples as he smiles at the sight of somebody who knows his name. Most of the hair on the top of his head is now gone, finally lost to age. Smiling, he speaks in a warm but aged voice. "Finding somebody that know my name is rare nowadays, especially one who I do not know. Forgive me, for my memory is not as good as it used to be, and I have forgotten who you are, if you do not mind me asking."

  • Smiling, Balthazar held out his hand in greeting. "Well Magrim, I see no need to introduce myself as you already know of my name. I must as one thing however. Where is Royal, if I may ask? We used to have quite the romp whenever we got together..." Laughing as he remembers events from long ago, he awaits Magrim's response.

  • Pulling down his hood, Balthazar smiles at the sight of an old face. He had come back not knowing if anybody he knew well was still there, and the surprise of seeing a good friend once again brought a massive grin to his wrinkled face. "Ahhh, Mortar, how long has it been? It feels like ages since I left this place behind... It certainly looks like too!" Walking through the gate, the snow crunches under the massive figure's feet as he stares at the newer surroundings unfamiliar to the old man.

  • Too long, my old friend, too long. How have you been, what have you been doing? *You notice that he doesn't seem to have aged since you've last seen him, then you remember the last time you saw him he was in a glass coffin*
