You need to remember that destiny is a 2014 game and was limited to last gen consoles. Destiny 2 will be far more open world.

Half of that is right....however you forgot that at e3 before launch they showed how big scaled that very "2014" games was. Which they cut

They cut it because a lot of people were fired, quit, etc. they didn't have the budget to finish the game.

They quit because they (Activision) wanted to cut the content in the first place.
