Hello #OffTopic, as you may or may not know, I'm aspiring to be an Astrophysicist. I've done this sort of thread once before, and it turned out to be pretty popular, so I figured I'd do it again seeing how school is starting up soon.
I absolutely love teaching people about physics and astronomy, and I know many of you are very interesting in these topics, because let's face it, we're all a bunch of nerds here.
Also, I will say that I am still a student, and I don't know absolutely everything. I know a great deal more than the average joe, and I take pride in that, but I'm also not Einstein or Newton. Yet. Regardless, if I absolutely can't answer your question, I will most likely be able to point you in a good direction for you to find the answer.
Lastly, I won't do your homework for you. I can explain a concept or maybe give you some clarification on a confusing topic, however your homework is your responsibility, and it is important that you do it so you understand it.
So ask me anything!

How close are we to harnessing the "quantum vacuum"
-
So I heard someone talking about two satellites that got hit by small dense objects one apparently disappeared and the other got crushed and apparently they saw one break a planet is this possible?
-
How massive would I need to be for the entire universe to revolve around me?
-
Does our orbit shift slightly when there's a massive solar flare as the sun has less mass afterwards? Like, will the year increase by a few minutes or hours? If not, why not? If the question is too tough, I may have some other, easier ones.

Edited by Jasondurgen: 9/1/2016 10:56:10 PMDo you happen to know the ratio for life harboring systems to non-life harboring systems (within the Milky Way)? Also, do you agree with Hawkings statement that even if we find intelligent life, if it is more advanced than ours we will be either destroyed or enslaved?
It's kinda astronomy lol
I heard about this theory a while ago that everything in the entire universe is actually just a single electron buzzing around backwards and forwards in time, creating everything. How much does this make you lol?
