While this should make perfect sense to run wired connection, I find destiny plays better for me on wifi. When I run wired connection 100+ stable 10-13ping I am playing with a small delay 90% of the time! Wifi only drops #'s slightly, but the delay is gone. WTF does this game handicap you for having quality connection?

  • As indicated in the original post, wired connections can continue to perform in less than optimal conditions. Wireless is plagued by problems. OP didn't really cover this, but there are problems like: Wireless performs more like a hub than a switch. Take a look at your router admin panel for a status page that includes your clients. People forget that they have a cell phone (or four), tablets, laptops, appleTv/smart TVs/chromecast/fire/Roku, webcam/baby monitor, smart fridge, smart light bulbs, etc etc etc etc. That's all competition. 802.11 happens in unlicensed spectrum. That means, in addition to the wifi devices above, all the other wireless devices you AND YOUR NEIGHBORS have all pollute the spectrum. Even non-wireless devices (the Microwave??) can pollute your connection. WiFi is junk. (Relative to a hardwired connection to a quality switch.) If your wired connection seems to perform worse, I'd say it isn't that your WiFi is better: I'd look for problems on your wired network.

  • It's not that it performs worse, when I test console connection wired it is always above 100mbs down 14 up. I am running dual band gigabit router for what it's worth, not a xfinity hand out. Testing console wifi is usually around 70 down, and the same 13-14 up. The problem I see when switched to wired is as if the server has deemed my connection to op and nerfed it by adding input lag. This only happens with destiny's pvp. All other games run perfect.

  • I can think of at least two ways (might be more) to detect conditions on your LAN. But not without a lot of work, and also a lot of overhead. READ: impractical. So, generally, shouldn't be detectable. Don't know what is up on your system. Oh, and you mentioned your dual-band router. But, that's not all of your hardware. The NIC on your console also counts. So do the ports on the router. So does your cable. Something as simple as a bad solder, or a cable that was crimped can also be factors.
