Why no wifi? We do full iron banner fire teams of 6 on wifi and still ping under 20. Wifi isn't the problem.

  • ping means didly squat in network troubleshooting terms. It just tell you you have a connection to a chosen network endpoint, and a very very vague idea of how long 1 packet take to get to that endpoint and back again. I can do a ping test and see that my Round Trip Time on my ping is 8ms, but I;m always red bar in Crucible. Wifi signal is too inconsistent and many many things can interfere with the signal quality. From a neighbor getting a mobile phone, to someone in your street getting a new garage door opener. Signal instability can happen at any time. This will cause packets to queue on your router, leading to over saturation on the network link slowing your upload and download and causing data to be dropped. You see it as getting shot through a wall. PS4 wifi chips are generally considered to be the worst possible ones available. If you want the best possible experience for yourself, and remember that your bad connection will affect other players PvP experiences well. Once you insert that twisted cord into that open, willing port, you'll never go back.
