So what you're saying is.... If I connect my console via Ethernet cable, I can skip all the DMZ, ISP, uPnP and MAC stuff i don't understand? Also, if destiny uses a P2P system, why have I never seen the game pause and search for a new host?

 • Hard wire is the start of the process. put a fixed IP on your console, go to portforward.com and look for destiny ports. It deals with specific routers and gives a good step by step on how to open your ports. Just this will improve your experience in destiny, trust me I'm a doctor :)
May not actually be a doctor
• I used to have issues with getting disconnected and I was hard wired. As soon as I put my console in the dmz I've never had any issues. You can't put your console in dmz without being hard wired BTW.

 • You should be able to skip all of that stuff even if you use WiFi. Most people try to get cute with configuring their wireless routers and end up screwing things up. Default settings are normally OK.

 • No. I've helped so many friends set up their consoles in the dmz and every one of them noticed a big difference after. All routers come with a reset button in case you screw something up. There are lots of guides online. Most ppl are just too freaking lazy to be bothered with a few minutes of research.

 • Yeah no kidding. When you place a host outside of a firewall you will typically not have problems associated with a poorly configured firewall.

 • The host migration happens almost instantly. If the host quits/leaves a match, the switch is made without anyone even noticing.

 • There is some noticeable differences when the host leaves. There are red bars everywhere. It may take 25ms for a change to happen, but there will be a noticeable difference. Everyone has to connect to the new host. Even though we are already connected.
