My understanding of powerline adapters is that your house needs to have grounded wiring for it to work properly. Any truth to that Unfortunately, I live in a house built in 1956, and about half the wiring in the house is the original ungrounded wiring.

I have no idea dude. I live in the UK, and everything on our power is grounded anyways. I think you would need to research the subject youself. To Quote Sean Murray
¯\_(シ)_/¯
Edited by Wheeze: 8/26/2016 5:17:52 PMYeah, my research hasn't been clear, but I'll take another stab at it. The dudes at Best Buy led me to believe it wouldn't work properly, but what the hell do they really know? FWIW, I already have port forwarding and a dedicated IP address using WiFi and rarely encounter lag on my end or have network errors. I'd prefer a wired connection, obviously, but it's not in the cards at the moment. Still, cool topic, thanks for the write up.

Have you tried emailed Tp-Link? They make most of the adapters, maybe their sales support team can help?

Haha, true. I like the house. I don't want to spend thousands rewiring it. Sad face.
